Located on the rooftop of an old warehouse and accessible by a private elevator, The Fifth Grill & Terrace is an experience you should not miss. The press has called us 'a glamorous hideaway' and our terrace 'the best patio in Toronto'. Our award winning cooking is described as 'the perfect blend of classic steakhouse and French cuisine'.
"We were informed several times about there new menu. It was starting on May 9th and 10th. they advertised oysters, steak frites, tapas. We booked our May 10th reservation under this information. when we arrived they had non of the above. We will not be returning."

"Unique menu, service, presentation, and dining experience. From the initial freight elevator ride up to the roof top dining experience (indoor and outdoor available), it was a highlight of our Toronto visit. A short walk in a developing neighborhood was clearly worth this dining experience. From the chef's surprise to appetizers to entree and dessert specials...truly a wonderful experience at a great value."

"We came as a group of four women, an annual night out on the town. We planned the Fifth as we could have a nice dinner, followed by bottle service and a private section in the club downstairs. When planning the evening however, my "VIP" contact at the Fifth didn't mention that it was an 80's/90's theme - once we finished dinner and got to the club, we all looked at each other and immediately all said "we can't dance to this!" and went somewhere else. Bummer. The dinner itself was delicious, however the portions were incredibly small. The location of the table was the rooftop, which I am sure is all open & beautiful in warm weather but it was enclosed in plastic and was too chilly for one of our girls."

"Adorable setting in Toronto hotspot! Once you find the front door (it's a bit of a process), it's fun and trendy! We had informed them our party size had shrunk at the front door, and by the time we reached our table upstairs it had already been reset for our new party size. Funky freight elevator in use!
For those that drink, Amazing wine list! However not so friendly towards the non-drinker. We had two expecting mothers at our table and were shocked to learn that our diet pops cost the same as a beer! ($6.00) While our waiter was well versed when it came to pairing wines with our meails, we were disapointed when we had to gain his attention for another round.
Our dinners were delicious! "Gourmet" portion sizes."

"Initially, our experience was underwhelming :( Had a 9:00pm reservation and were not seated until 10:30pm. Waited at the bar for 30 minutes before we were served. Upon being seated we were given menus and our server disappeared, not a great start to our evening... I had organized the evening for five of us, a bit embarrassed about the experience, I went to find the manager and the executive chef, Brad asked if he could assist me. I explained the situation and he immediately apologized and stepped in to rectify the situation. Thanks to him, our experience went from horrible to outstanding. Passionate and proud of his menu, he shared some of his favorites with us. Everything was exceptional - despite awful service initially would return."

"asked NY Sirloin to be medium -- both steaks came back well done. They were happy to re-do the steaks -- this time we ate half -- the other half was rare. Normally go to Mortons where after 20 years we have never had a bad steak. thought we would jump cue and try something new that appeared to have a pretty good YELP rating. Wasn't worth it."

"Loved the 6oz New York Steak! Juicy and tender, it melted in my mouth. My boyfriend had chicken which was also amazing with roasted mushrooms. Water service was excellent and so was the guy at the elevator and coat check lady. Loved the atmosphere, though I felt under dressed wearing jeans. This place was more for an older crowd didnt see people in there 20's there."

"The food portions were a little small for my liking, but the ambiance is terrific. We sat by the fireplace - very cozy but chic. Staff are very friendly and inviting."

"I had always passed by this place and decided to go for dinner last weekend. I always thought it was only a bar/club and was happy to know that the rooftop was a restaurant. The place has a closed terrace which I'm sure is really nice in the summer. The place is very romantic but the place is also appropriate for dinners with friends. They don't have a huge selection of wines by the glass; however, if you want a bottle, then you'll have a longer list to choose from. As for food, I had the steak with the peppercorn sauce. It was really good and tender, especially given that I like it really well-done. The service was really good and even the chef came out to check on our food. Overall, I would recommend it and would definitely go back the"

"We went to the fifth for a special occasion, and despite the food found ourselves disappointed overall. The ambiance and mood of the restaurant was confusing at best, and the eclectic setting and setup was a bit disjointed, and the layout was either a hipsters paradise or a conservative nightmare.
My meal, the grill mix, was well cooked and very enjoyable, however, I was more than disappointed with the portion size. $45 included a side dishes of broccolini, and approximately 6oz of assorted cuts. The food was excellent, but I felt the platter was well over priced. My girlfriends chicken was also greasy and she ended up not enjoying it at all. For the price and overall value, we were certainly left wanting more."

"The Fifth Grill had a great ambiance and the food was worth every penny (but be ready to spend a lot of them:) The steak tore apart with a fork and melted in your mouth...I would definitely go back."

"Our server was horrible, I feel like she was very rude. I asked for a blue steak cooked rare, and she made it seem like I didn't know what I was ordering. She took a very long time to take our order and finished pouring water for 4 tables before she did when I had already told her we were ready."

"the experience was great, my wife and i enjoyed ourselves very much. I had the lobster and she had the half baked chicken. The only issue iI had was that iI found the lobster to be small for a "whole lobater", other than that the experience, ambiance and staff were great."

"Great restaurant nestled in an historic building - too bad the original freight elevator has been replaced as it lifted guests and their dining expetations to new heights! No draught beer, unfortunately, but the bar is well stocked. Definitely the place to impress a date."

"The food was excellent-interesting, well-prepared and generously portioned. In addition, dining at the Fifth was like being a guest at a friend's perfectly furnished historical loft. Even though we were there (this time) for WInterlicious, the staff went out of their way to make the occassion memorable. The complimentary proseco at the start, the amuse buche, and the take-away cookies at the end were all unexpected extras that enhanced the feeling of being special."

"Absolutely loved it. Food was great, server was superb, and ambience was perfect fusion of romantic-eclectic-chic. We've been here about five times over the last two years and we'll definitely be back. We view it as a treat to go to The Fifth so we save it for special occasions, but we'd go more often if we could!"

"Not being entirely on the up-and-up, I found the main door a little hard to find, but my frustrations ended there. Upon greeting, we were treated to top-to-bottom attentive, friendly, and professional service. The staff knew their menu inside out and backwards, and were happy to offer suggestions.
Food highlights: Salad with blue cheese vinaigrette (how? IDK, but it was good) was crisp and fresh; the flatiron steak grilled accurately and seasoned well (not top-10, but certainly good); the chocolate cake w carmelized pecan was slightly dry, but had great flavour when combined.
Not necessarily the most creative/flavourful menu I've had at a restaurant - but, overall, a fresh, warm, and interesting experience. Would go back."

"Went for winterlicious. Menu wasn't anything spectacular and food wasn't anything to remember. Service was poor and my husband didn't even get served his whole main course, a portion was forgotten. Service was subpar, waiter hardley came by tochdck on us. We wouldn't go back, I expected more."

"My friends and I came to The Fifth last year for Winterlicious and had a wonderful time and great food. We came back again this year to relive the experience, but this time the food wasn't as amazing as I expected. Still very good, but the steak was a little tough and the cake was a little dry. The atmosphere and service is still exceptional."

"The Fifth Grill & Terrace not only has delicious food that is presented like a piece of art but it's an absolutely incredible dining experience. I still am still shocked that it has been open for 16 years and I had never even heard of it until I discovered it as a participating restaurant for Winterlicious. As the manager said to us "it really is a hidden treasure in the city". No words will describe how wonderful our evening was but all I can say is that it is definitely a "bucket list" experience. The decor is fantastic and the service is outstanding. We can't wait to go back!"
