"Either you go for a little group to enjoy great food or if you go for a romantic evening on the patio, l'apart is absolutely delightful.
The staff is very friendly and quintessentially French which ads to the charm of the experience. I personally prefer to go during the week when it is slightly less busy but the weekends are great too. Check out their Facebook page they have live music on some thursday."

"The food was especially good. The squash blossoms were yummy! The service was slow but the waited comped the appetizer to make up for it. A great gesture. Well done. My out of town company really enjoyed the outdoor dining, the wine and the food. Only negative is that they were out of my choice of wine and my choice of entree. Really........."

"We had a delicious dinner dining al fresco on a balmy spring night. The food was incredible beginning with the chick pea "fries" all the way through the pear tart. Our main courses included the burger, the steak frites and scallops and all were delicious. The staff was especially solicitous and helpful and attentive to our every needs. A wonderful evening out."

"The wait staff were less than helpful, we had to pour our own wine and the bread arrived with the meal. My friend had the monkfish, which was salty and she did tell the maitre d', she also had the mushroom soup and her comment was "My soup I make is better". I had the goat cheese and mushroom pasta dish which was tasteless. I do have to say that my husband's one pork chop was done exactly as he requested. Additionally my friend sat on her chair and caught her skirt on a loose staple, the chair was replaced after a lengthy time trying to get a waiter.
We have been there many times and had a positive experience, but will not return this week as we had planned."

"Had been looking forward to our dinner here, as have been to L'Garage and really enjoyed it. While service was fine and the outdoor patio was cozy on a rainy night, the food was a huge disappointment. The lamb shank was very over salted, the steak was dry and tough, indicating poor quality.Normally I would have sent back but we had a very late dinner and everyone was hungry and did not want to wait for a remake. At a place such as this they should get it right the first time. Very very disappointing, and won't be coming back. Only reason not giving a poor overall rating was the service and ambiance was pretty good."

"Have dined here a half dozen times and always enjoyed. Large group, everyone pleased with their choices. Lobster risotto was uninspired. Tomato sauce, rice and a few bits of lobster. Desserts lovely.
Will definitely give one more try but diners tend to move on after a couple of disappointments, especially at this price point."

"We had a pleasant enough mid-week dinner, but in foodie-centric Marin with a wonderful farmer's market where I see chefs shoppping every week, I was dismayed to find yellow squash and fava bean puree on the menu in March. It felt out of step. Most restaurants are making an effort to serve local and seasonal produce...not hard to do in this area of such bounty. We brought a very special bottle of wine and felt the $25 corkage to be excessive for a neighborhood restaurant. L'Appart Resto would benefit from a third do-over."

"A solid French bistro, with a very pleasant setting, with Friendly staff. Many aspects of the Menu may not appeal to people not used to non-American food. Some of the meals' taste are more closely aligned with traditional French taste of how a meal should taste like, thank American taste. Must like dogs although thew day we were there they were all well behvaed. I am not a pet person, Food is excellent, well prepared with moderate portions. Presentation is simple but effective. "The meal was lovely, though not a good as when the other Chef is there. Our waiter was attentive until the dessert. My reservation said it was my husband's birthday which was acknowledged by our waiter and the person that seated us. In good restaurants this means they send out a little something with a candle. We saw this happen at the table right behind us as it was that gentleman's birthday as well. Our waiter never came back until it was tiem for the bill. A bus boy or someone took our dessert order and brought it and left. No candle with my husband's dessert, so I asked him for one while we all watched the guy next to us blow out his on a little cake he did not order but was presneted with. The bus boy came back with a candle."

"Love the casual vibe of this place. The traditional French bistro chairs set the tone. Creamy chickpea app is awesome! Steak frites is just right (kinda big, actually). For me, whenever I see cassoulet on the menu, it's a must. This version is different than others I've had, but still lovely. A bit more pork belly would've been a good thing.

"As always, we had a great time. For the most part, we know the staff. They are friendly and attentive. I just love the food. Valentine's Day was made special. Unfortunately, our reservation was late and we did not get the Tartar, which I wanted but other than that, the food was great. There was no rush to get us out. On the contrary, we stayed for almost two hours without any problem. I just love L'Appart Resto."

"ive been here many times. The food is always great. I had the scallops which were devine. My only complaint this time is the chocolate dessert (can't remember the exact name) should have been warmer, the center was not hot enough. But, still it was yummy!"

"Excellent food, and remarkably attentive service considering every seat was occupied in this small restaurant. Pricey, but the food is worth it, and I can’t wait to return. The storefront atmosphere does not enhance the experience, and on a winter night it can be distracting every time the door opens and another burst of cold air comes in."

"We celebrated early Valentines Day on Monday evening and could not have been more pleased. I had not dined at L"Appart Resto in a couple of years and it was better than even. It would definately rank in the TOP 5 of Marin restaurants. I had the steak and my husband had cassoulet. Both were extraordinarily delicious. The steak was one of the best prepared I have had period. Make sure to come hungry...the portions are generous! Finally, I also want to mention the service was excellent. Everything timed perfectly and the entres were nice and hot. Also, the "bus-girl" was so sweet and continually made sure our water glasses were full,table clean and plates removed in a timely manner."

"We have eaten here many times and have NEVER been disappointed. The wait staff are wonderful, the food is consistently good. and the chef is wonderfully creative without losing the flavors of the ingredients. He doesn't over salt his dishes either which we find is a current trend in restaurants. Even their burgers are fabulous. I can't say enough about our towns wonderful restaurant. Boy, are we lucky!"

"Owners Bruno and Olivier bring French sophistication, sans l'attitude, to a quaint location in San Anselmo. They are always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I got the braised lamb shank, just to to try something the amazing chicken dish, which is what I usually order. It was excellent -- but I may have to return to the chicken on my next visit!"

"Second time there, and much less interesting vs first time. None of the dishes rose above fair. Esgargots were rubbery and in a dull presentation. Vegetable pot pie had one carrot and four peas. Tarte tatin was so small I thought it was a joke. In most restaurants, sharing a dessert with 3 or 4 people is easy. In this case, it wasn't even enough for one person.
Oh well."

"It's hard to provide high ratings when the reason I went to the restaurant wasn't available so take this review with a grain of salt when seen through that lens.
I went to the web site picked out a great meal - a couple of glasses of Sancerre, a mixed green salad and SKATE wing.
We were greeted warmly when we arrived, got placed at a nice table with knowledgeable waiter - Thomas. Found out NO SKATE so we had some Sancerre wine and perused the menu. I ended up with a sweetbreads started, a too small mixed green salad that was very tasty, and very large well-cooked flat-iron steak with a balanced Bordeaux. We split an orange zest creme brulee' .
