Linger
Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.

"We made reservations for sunday brunch and ate downstairs where the menu is slightly larger. Food was great, our waiter was very knowledgable and friendly. We had the best mimosas with a peppered flavor. We went upstairs to the outdoor area afterwards and enjoyed the view.

"This was our first time at this restaurant. Saturday evening - restaurant was packed. Though we had a reservation & showed up 5 min early, were seated only about 25 min past reserved time. Probably because it was spring time & weather on this particular day was cool & breezy, which meant few takers for patio seating. Once seated, our server was friendly & very knowledgeable about the menu items. Our party consisted of vegetarians & people with food allergies. Our servers' knowledge was very helpful with making menu choices. The only hiccup was with Pad Thai - our server overlooked the fact that it contained fish sauce, but when we pointed this out, it was promptly replaced with a fresh dish made without the sauce Overall positive experience"

"We went to celebrate our friends' 10th wedding anniversary. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The food was amazing! When it came time for wine, the sommelier guided us to two excellent bottles of wine. The best part was the Happy Anniversary card the staff signed, glasses of bubbly and chocolate for dessert. Just all around one of the best dining experiences we have ever had."

"Ordered about 5 things upfront assuming they would spread them out as we ate. 3 of them came at the same time which made us feel rushed and we ran out of table space. The only thing I would have changed would have been order things as we ate throughout the night so we would have avoided having too many things on the table at one time."

"This visit, we sat on the roof top rather than inside. Did not like the fact that we were served wine/drinks in plastic cups. I can understand not using stemmed wine glasses, but there are non-stem wine glasses with flat bottoms that would work. Many people had their drinks in real glass and others had plastic. Not good. The wait staff and bus staff were definitely not as good as those I have encountered in my previous visits. We had 4 in our party and they completely forgot one of our guests meals. The rest of us were almost finished with our meal before hers arrived. We are coming for dinner in early June and this will be the final test as to whether we continue patronizing this restaurant in the future."

"I was kinda bummed that we were sat at the smallest, most crowded table for two in the entire resteraunt for a 5:45pm reservation when there were very nice two person booths open, not in the middle of a bunch of people, so that definitely took away from the experience. The food and service was great though."

"When i looked up Linger, it was rated as one of the top restaurants in Denver and it didn't disappoint. The start off with a cup of popcorn seasoned with spices, the Red Lentil Dahl with the crunchy pieces of lentils, the chicken b'stilla, and finishing up with the Peanut Butter Bar....it was an amazing and DELICIOUS journey through food. All the portions were small which made my dining experience even more enjoyable. If you haven't been to this restaurant, treat yourself because you're in for food flavors that you typically can't find at one single restaurant. I could go on and on about this restaurant, but the bottom line is that it was probably one of the most UNIQUE dining experiences i've had to date."

"The regular brunch menu is yummy with many little dishes to share! I was expecting a few unique items for Mother's Day Brunch. Had table in upper back room next to bar. Very relaxing on Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful, cool breeze flowing into the room from the huge open windows! Parents liked it more than the kids (16,20). Bill was a pleasant surprise, less than $75 for four. Service was unusually lacking. Expecting first-rate service according to all the other reviewers on Open Table. They must not have had our waiter. Could have been an overall "Very Good" with more attention from our waiter."

"Both the food and atmosphere were highly enjoyable for our Sunday brunch with friends. I made reservations ahead of time, avoiding any possible wait time. The food and drinks came out with perfect timing even though the place was busy. Everyone was happy with the menu selection and all enjoyed selected dishes.
The only small annoyance was our very good server neglected to offer split checks. We were clearly separate couples and would have appreciated an offer to simplify our payments (never fun as the accountant to have to calculate checks after a meal), especially since computer systems make it reasonably easy on servers' ends. Besides this nitpicky side note, brunch at Linger was a wonderful way to start a Sunday."

"It's a little on the pricey side as far as price to food proportion ratio goes. The plates are on the small side but oh man the food is excellent! The BBQ tacos are to die for and they make the best Pad Thai I think I've ever eaten. There were 4 of us at the table and we each had to order 2 plates in order to get a decent meal out of it. The good thing though is that the food is made to share so it's easy to order a bunch of different plates and pass them around the table. The food was more satisfying, the waiter was friendly and knowledgable, and the atmosphere was great. Can't beat the view from the Roof! I'd defiantly go again but I'd say that t's more of a once in a while kind of place for me."

"We had a lovely dinner with 6 people total. Linger's menu is so much fun for group dining - it allowed us to try lots of different plates with food from around the world. "Happened to see the marquee for Linger from our hotel room and made a reservation for brunch. The restaurant has many levels with cosmo but comfortable decor. The service was unhurried and attentive, the recommendations were all spot on and food came out simple, fresh and delicious. Buffet special cocktails are $3. Tried the coconut fizz drink. Yum. They put the lime in the coconut and ginned it all up. . Four or five of the dishes vied for my order and both of ours came out mmmmm, mmm good. Sides of bacon were perfectly cooked. Their take on brussels sprouts is unusual and tasty. Can't go wrong with this neighborhood gem!"

"7 of us celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday at Linger. The table was waiting for us. No wait at all. The server was friendly and attentive. The food selection was great. Several of us are vegetarians and there were enough options for us. Everyone enjoyed the lunch. The food was creative and was presented nicely. We'll all be going back! Only down side was that it was quite loud, but to be expected for a busy restaurant."

"Went there for lunch recently. It was crowded, but not noisy. The service was outstanding and attentive, dishes were recommended and explained. Tried the Devils on Horseback...how can you not like anything with bacon? The Ginger Chili Shrimp was nice...crispy with a bit of sweet and heat. Pad Thai was OK. Red Sangria was refreshing. Can't wait for my next visit!"

"Everything about this restaurant is done extremely well. I was surprised at how affordable the individual dishes were for the quality. That said, my boyfriend and I easily spent the $100 gift certificate we had between us in one trip. I will definitely go back and will recommend it to others."

"I haven't been for brunch, but this place rocks the hiz-zay! Ginger Shrimp, fried brussels and PB dessert were fan freaking tastic. Bahn Mi buns were amazing too. Our server Nathan, all of our back waiters and the manager made the night perfection with unequalled service. Bon Appetit... but make reservations. This place is PACKED!"
