"THis was our first time at Komali (have eaten at Salum countless times). We went in with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good as was service. Cocktails were imaginative and wines reasonably priced. The noise level was not as high as has been reported in other reports, but we were there early. However, the bar was packed and we were seated next to it and we didn't think the noise was too bad. Overall, great experience."

"had a friend's birthday dinner here, party of 8. everyone loved the drinks and food, service was good. FYI- they charge a $2/person cutting fee if you bring in an outside dessert- even if they are individual servings AND if not everyone has some. I was told it was not for the extra service/presentation, but to make-up for the money lost on not purchasing their dessert.
Will defintely eat here many more times, just will NEVER plan a celebration for a group here again."

"The ceviche was amazing. However, very little else was impressive. 2/4 of us had to send our cocktails back (an unusual request for us we noted). The scallops were rubbery and the pork loin was way over cooked. Wine selection very limited, especially considering the wonderful selections this regional cuisine represents. All and all, not the 'special treat' we were hoping for..."

"The food was good, but not good enough for us to make the drive from Far North Dallas. The service was excellent (although our waiter got one of our orders wrong) because it was so noisy he could not hear properly. Our biggest complaint is that the tables are very small and very close together; it was uncomfortable and we had to put our menus on the floor while we had an appetizer."

"The worst service ever!! And some of food was cold when served--cold crepes are really awful. It took over an hour to get our food, and then some of the orders were wrong. Further, we had to tackle people to get refills on water and tea and to get our cheque. It could hardly have been any worse. Shame on Leslie Brenner for recommending this establishment for brunch!"

"We had a great time at Komali! Everything was wonderful from the drinks to the dessert! My boyfriend is from Mexico City and even he was impressed by the authenticity of every dish :).
The only reason I put "Very Good" for service was because after we were seated we waited a good 10 minutes before our waiter showed up. However once noted, the owner Mr. Salum immediately came to our table and personally brought us our drinks. From then on the service was impeccable! I'm sure it was just a miscommunication between the hostess and waitstaff.
Will definitely go back the next time I'm in Dallas."

"The atmosphere was very lovely. I had the rubbed red snapper and it was delightful. It had a nice crispy edge but the remainder was light and almost melted in your mouth. I took my girlfriend to Komali for Valentine's Day and we had a great time. The Margauritas are truly to die for and the appetizers and main courses were delicious. Complimentary valet parking was the icing on the cake of a memorable evening.

"We enjoyed dinner on Valentine's Day - We had made a reservation and showed up on time. we preferred a different table from the one offered and hostess was more than kind to find another. the margarita was great. we had the street corn as a starter and the dish was good though the bowl was boring, and it might have been served with corn bread or special chips something as it tasted and looke dlike a dip and probably had too much mayo and not enoug chilli spice.
the Cohiba dish was great - no complaints and the scallops for my wife were excellent - cooked well and presented well. The jalepeno vinaigrette salad dressing was awesome - again the plating of the salad was boring - could probably use some work on presentation."

"The food specials were fantastic--great presentation, new flavors, high quality. The Tamarind Margarita is a must; was not impressed by the crepe cajetas but the housemade coconut ice cream was delicious. My entree was a pepitas encrusted lamb chop with a delicious microgreen side that offset the flavors very nicely. The server was very knowledgeable and the only negative was the noise level made it difficult to talk."

"Very good Tex-Mex food. We're from the SF Bay Area so we're pretty particular when it comes to food. Komali was a great place. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in Dallas. Noise level was loud! But food and service was great. Very attentive. We had a large group of 9. We ordered many different dishes so we could all taste. Had a great time. Definite thumbs up!"

"Elevating Mexican Cuisine high above what North Texas has been led to believe is "good Mexican food", Komali offers deliciously authentic dishes expertly prepared with quality fresh ingredients. While the restaurant receives great recognition for it's Margaritas, its Komali's food that really shines. I recommend taking a party of 4 to 6 people, order appetizers + a different entree per diner, and share each plate amongst the group. We did this last weekend and everyone in our group loved every dish. Bravo and Thank You Chef Salum!"
