"My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at the Farmhouse Inn for three nights, two of which we spent dining at the restaurant. The Sommelier perfectly matched the wine selection to each course and opened us up to varietals we had not tried before. The menu was not large which doesn’t bother me considering everything we had was wonderful. The chef’s use of ingredients was surprising on a few accounts and made me want to run home to try to replicate his bold choices. Overall we loved it. On a breakfast note, I wish I could have taken the morning chef home. She provided one fabulous savory and one sweet option every morning along with fresh baked muffins or a fruit plate. Delightful fresh food. Cheerful staff. What's not to love?"

"we wanted to try a michelin restaurant close to home, so we took advantage of the "locals' night" offer of a three course meal to try a sampling at a slightly lower price. overall, we were disappointed. of the first course; the dayboat scallop was superb, but the salad, nothing special. we added a wild mushroom tartlet with soft cheese that was also nothing special, and the cheese, just a tasteless mass. the fish entree was so bland i actually salted it, which, since i use salt very sparingly, i rarely need to do. the best item was the dessert, an exceptional gellato with warm chocolate cookies that was out of this world. will we return? probably not. too many great restaurants in our county just as good without a michelin star."

"I and my wife are used to sophisticated dinning and have been to several Michelin rated restaurants in the US and Europe. Hence, we have high standards when one talks about the dinning experience. The food was really fresh and delicious. It only lacks a bit on the presentation and menu which are not as sophisticated as other places in the Russian river valley. The ambiance is good, but nothing really special. The service was very good. We enjoyed the experience here."

"We dined the day after Valentine's Day, so the chef still had a prix-fixe menu available.. I ordered the prix fixe, priced at $45, and had a white asparagus soup appetizer, guinea fowl for a main, and a chocolate tart for dessert. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin as a main, no starters or dessert.
Overall, our dining experience was pretty good. The flavors were strong, but we weren't wowed or excited by anything on the menu. We also weren't very hungry. Service was friendly, but one of the servers accidentally poured still water into our sparkling... Overall, a reliable restaurant in the Healdsburg/Sonoma district."

"Enjoyed return to Farmhouse to celebrate a b'day. Greeted warmly, seated near fireplace as requested in OpenTable reservation. Amuse was white asparagus soup: first good use ever made of that flavorless oddity. Excellent local sardines w/olive tapendade and deservedly famous foie gras had us off to good start, but the entrees were the real stars: Pork shoulder with winter fruit was wonderfully flavorful (though more greens would have been appreciated) and the rabbit three ways was amazing. The loin and rack are usually the stars, but here the confit with mustard sauce was a revelation. Meat was moist, sweet and tender, and not at all fatty as with a duck confit. Beignets good, but lemon trio better. Disappointment: no "bonus desserts.""

I thought the portions were quite substantial and the options were very diverse if you are a meat eater. I didn't notice a vegetarian option on the menu. "An absolutely lovely experience. The food was well prepared and the service was professional, genial and casual. The prices were very fair given the quality. The wine service was particularly adept and knowledgeable. We brought an expensive wine and paid a fair corkage. We also asked that they recommend another half bottle for us to enjoy off of their list. They recommended a great, relatively obscure Gamay that was very inexpensive but of world class quality. They could have taken advantage of us or taken no risk and just recommended a very expensive grand cru Burgundy, but they chose something just as good, more interesting and 1/10th the price. Very impressive."

"We have eaten at the Farmhouse twice. Each time the food and service was impeccable. While the food is not cutting edge, the cooking is solid with great ingredients and creative and interesting combinations. High point dishes (between the two visits) were the Monterey Bay sardines, the crab, the rabbit (of course), the best-ever pork chop, and the squab - the latter three all moist and succulent. "Tucked away in Sonoma wine country, this is an outstanding place. The chef specializes in game, but also in Asian fusion, so there are these unusual sauces that are so original and a wonderful surprise to your palate. Everything is superbly done, This is a place to go for a special occasion, a romantic getaway or just to really enjoy wine country in an unpretentious setting with outstanding food and wine.
