Plumeria Beach House restaurant is closed on Sunday night and Wednesday night for dinner service. It is also closed between 2:30pm - 5:30pm daily. The last seating for lunch service daily will be at 2:00pm.

"One of the best buffets that I have ever been too. All of the food was flavorful, and well presented. Cold food was cold, and hot hot. All items were replenished so that none were ever empty. The ocean view was fantastic. Tables were not too close to each other. A buffet that I will definitely return to."

"The place is beautiful. It's not my frist time there. However, this time I brought with me my family. they ordered the Kahala burgers to which they were dissapointed in its untasty entree and at $20 per burger.
2 burgers, one baked ceaser salad, a glass of chardonay, calamari appatizer ( very good except for the sauces they offer ) and a cup of coffee came out to a little over $90.

"We went for the curry buffet which was excellent. There is a choice of 3 curries,representing Japan, India and Thailand accompanied by condiments. There is also soup,a salad bar and dessert buffet. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and service pleasant and unhurried. The curries are mild but flavorful. The setting is lovely, on the beach and open to the surrounding grounds."

"Plumeria is our favorite since moving to Hawaii. The freshness of all food, the presentation and the casual atmosphere with a touch of elegance all add to the great feeling of being there. It combines old Hawaii charm with a fantastic location and views. You can get a reservation to avoid waiting... The parking is a breeze as they Valet for you, inclusive with the meal with a validation. After brunch, a short walk shows off the beauty of the setting, the Dolphin Quest ponds, and wildlife, and the best kept secret of dining at the Kahala..... We enjoy the brunch more than the formal dining as it is more outside/open. It will not disappoint!"

"This was our second time having brunch at the Plumeria Beach House, and it was better before (although still not as good as the food at Halekulani, IMO). The bacon was soaking in grease, the pastries ran out and were not replaced, there was only one kind of cheese (sliced provolone) which also ran out, and only one starch (whole small potatoes). No dessert offerings. The thin pancakes with maple butter are delicious, though. Overall, it was good, but not exceptional--you are paying for the view, not the food."

"The buffet was good with a lot of fresh seafood. The desserts were also very good. Could have been better if there was more than just Prime Rib for a meat option. What puts this place on my 'must go back' list is the amazing view. Be sure to request an outside table, but avoid the hot windless nights because the termites can be pretty bad. I would recommend an early evening meal so you capture the beautiful views of the ocean and the changing colors of the sky as the sun sets."

"I have dined at Plumeria beach house for lunch several times and each time the view amazes me. The food is awesome and the servers are very helpful but the view wins me over above everything else. Whether I'm watching the rolling waves or seeing wedding couples taking photos at the onsite gazebo or one of the other picturesque spots on the grounds, I'm always entertained. Even with children in the dining area, the noise level never seems to get over a slight hum and makes for a very pleasant dining experience. If you go...be sure to have the chocolate mousse for desert...its an experience all in itself."

"This brunch at $75 per person is over priced for what you receive. I thought at the Kahala it would be a beautiful and memorable place for Easter. Our table location request before arriving was not honored, and there were tables available. The service was mediocre at best ( servers never clearing plates and standing around talking with each other) and the staff was so anxious to dismantle the buffett that nothing was ever replaced. The waitress was happy to bring warm $50 bottles of Champagne even though it was requested to be chiled before opening. Food was just okay, but way over priced for what you receive. Spent $550 to entertain friends and received about a $100 value. WOULD NOT GO BACK!"

"Great location and ambiance-located next to the water. Service was very good. Went on a Saturday night for the seafood buffet. The appetizer part was very delicious and fresh. My husband said the oysters were delicious.
The hot food items were less than impressive and the food was cold - it wasn't even lukewarm. We tried to find the clam in the clam fritters but there weren't any visible - just batter. May be they ground the clams real fine and mixed them into the batter. The garlic potatoes were bland and generally, potatoes just don't taste good when they are cold. Forgot what they called the tomato and seafood dish, but that wasn't good either. It tasted very bland. Dessert was good but selection was unimpressive-not too much variety"

"The hostess was not friendly, not rude, did not greet us in a happy excited way. She may be having a bad day. Hope she is not like that all the time for your sake.
The waiters were no where to be found. I had to ask for cocktails. I had to ask for water several times.. I had to ask for coffee for our guests and my self. The guests were brought coffee and mine was forgotten. This is not a 2 star service. Even diner's have better service."

"I have always had enjoyable meals at the Plumeria Beach House and typically will go for a special occasion. I went for Easter dinner with a friend and was very disappointed with the service and quality of food. Service was mediocre. The bus boy cleared our table as if we were gone although a purse and phone was left at the table. There were many open tables, but we found the staff slow to restock the buffet, perhaps they were short handed. The quality of food was simply not up to par. This particular event was not worth what we paid."

"Our server did not even pretend to be polite. While one of my guests was leaning in to tell me something, the server asked her in a slightly annoyed tone to move so she could clear a plate - as if waiting 30 more seconds to do so, or coming back, would have inconvenienced her too much. Moreover, a second server began taking orders, with no communication with our original server. This led to confusion between them and the original server barking at two of my guests for their juice orders when they had already given them to server #2. Everyone else I encountered was lovely, especially the valets. I'm local and I love the Kahala, but when my brunch bill is almost $400, I expect a polite server. Especially when gratuity is included."

"I was disappointed in the service. The hostess at the reception desk was extremely rude not only to me, but also to other patrons. The wait staff did the best they could, considering the the number of people dining at the restaurant. I would rate Plumeria Beach House as an ordinary coffe shop....there was nothing special about the food. This dining experience was a reminder that a bitter taste remains longer than the sweet."

"Went to play tourist and have a relaxing lunch. The hostess was friendly and offered us table outside. It was overcast, so not hot and wasn't too breezy. Our waiter Randy was so easy going and served our courses in a leisurely manner, so we could relax and soak up the ambiance of the ocean in front of us. My wife had the special, Monchong and Pork belly...amazing.I had the clubhouse...huge. For dessert she had the creme brulee and I had the Kahala sundae. Both desserts created a great ending to a wonderful lunch"

"We really enjoyed sitting at an outdoor table right near the water. The brunch buffet was good, with an assortment of everything from pastries to omlets and fresh fruit. They were preparing a very small wedding ceremony right near the restaurant and it was quiet and charming. Plenty of room for kids to play around in close view as well."

"As usual, appetizer/salad bar was very good. I liked the ahi carpaccio. Entrees were a bit disappointing. The seafood medley in the chafing dish was not too impressive. Eggplant parmesan was too dry. The only protein offered in the pasta at the action station was sausage; disappointing for me but it made my grandson happy! I did like the lamb, which is practically the only main course I opted for since there were no seafood choices there. Because the entrees were disappointing, I had a lot of bread/crackers.Desserts were outstanding. I recall three of your themed seafood buffets, Local/Hawaiian; Spain; Italy. I enjoyed the Hawaiian theme the best.How soon in advance can we know what the theme will be?"

"We were there for a lunch date. The service was extremely slow, even after we promted that we needed to get back to work. We had trouble getting our water glasses filled at the very least. The food took a long time to come out. Throughout the lunch we relied on other waiters to assist us. Even to get the bill took an extreme amount of time. The waitress then took our payment and disappeared again even though we stated our need to leave immediately. We had to have her tracked down to bring our card back so we could leave. Tables around us had people that were seated after us. They came, ordered, were served their food and ate it, and left while we were still sitting there waiting. It was horrible. I will not tolerate that next time."

The eggs were overly salted, the oatmeal on the mushy side and the coffee just so-so. "We three ladies of a certain age had the chef's prix fixe menu. Chicken, broccoli and (best of all) mashed taro - lavendar whipped taro like the best mashed potatoes you've ever eaten. The salad that came with the menu was almost big enough to be classed as an a la carte dish. The beets in it were delicious. The service was gracious, but a little slow. The view is gorgeous - the broad Pacific, and the trade winds kept us cool without blowing our hats off. The hot fudge sundae that was part of the deal could have used a little more hot fudge. I've been to a place where they give you a little pitcher of extra hot fudge. That would be a nice touch. All in all, a nice luncheon experience."

Both the Chinese chicken salad and the tofu salad were good, as was the lobster and cocktail shrimp.
The deserts were average to above average with the $7 Popsicle being amusing.
For the price, we expected better. The ambiance is hard to beat, but once the sun goes down, that's it for that. Still looking for a replacement to the old Surf Room Friday buffet."
