European-inspired dishes, quintessential mid-century cocktails and eccentric interiors have made this continental tavern one of River North's favorite spots.

"We had 8:45 reservations, but no tables were available (no one was leaving probably due to the Bulls game being televised). Staff was very polite in the matter. After waiting about 20-30 minutes, I went back to check and they said our group was next, before I could get a word out. Once a table was available, we were seated. I'd still say our experience was great."

"The host station had attitude. The server had no personality and seemed bored. The noise level was very loud. The lamb and chicken came out over cooked."

"I've been to the Hubbard in a few times and I always enjoy it. The food, service and ambiance are great. I had a friend in from Kansas City and he really enjoyed it too. He'll be back on business in a couple weeks and mentioned that he'd like to go back. The chicken thighs and the bacon wrapped dates were really good. The scallops were just ok. The rest of our food was great!"

"I've only come to Hubbard Inn for the bar scene--this was my first time dining. Was very disappointed when the hostess told us our table wasn't ready yet and it would only be a "couple of minutes" 35 minutes later my friend complained to the manager and we were seated. Service was very slow...wasn't impressed, There are many better options just a few steps away. Food was very good and I did enjoy the menu."

"Very accommodating for large groups (we were 6). We got a combination of mostly small and a couple large plates to share; my personal favorites were the whiskey braised short ribs (so soft!), the beet salad and the scallops. Cocktails were pretty good and strong too. The place has a cool interior with nice light fixtures and a bunch of eclectic art on the walls. The only downsides were the noise level and the timing of service. It was crazy loud the entire time. Also, when we first got seated we ended up waiting for a while before anyone came by and at some point during the dinner, another round of food came out but we had no plates. Overall very good and would go back again."

"Overall my experience at Hubbard Inn was positive. The drinks and food were really tasty and staff was attentive and helpful. My reason for the three star rating is due to the fact that we weren't seated until over an hour after our reservation. I made the reservation same day on OpenTable. When we arrived they did let us know they were a little backed up and said they would find us when the table was ready. An hour delay just seems like poor planning on the restaurants part. Luckily we weren't starving. I don't think I will make reservations there again due to this experience. I would recommend sitting at the bar for drinks before dinner somewhere else."

"had a reservation, yet still waited over 45 mins to be seated. they asked us to wait at the bar, where there was no room and it seems they do that on purpose to force you to drink more of their $14 cocktails. Food was overly sauced, seasoned and salted. just an overall weird experience and can't say that I enjoyed myself."

"All of our food came out in 10 minutes. Too soon and not separated. Good service from the nice waitress but mussels were horrible and steak tartar was bland!"

"We had a group of 6 for date night this past Saturday. The menu has some vegetarian options, much better if you eat fish. After explaining I was a vegetarian, I forgot to order the mussels without chorizo, my bad, but would have been awesome if our waitress had caught that. Lights went down and music went up around 10pm, prompting us to ask for the check, since conversation was hard. I'd recommend their cocktails, as opposed to wine (selection is limited). I'll go back as this place is accessible and fun for groups!"

"We loved Hubbard Inn. The scallops were delicious--especially with the squash and walnuts. The short ribs were to die for--the meat was so tender and fell off the bone. The flat bread was a nice choice as well. The craft beer selection was expansive. The malbec and cabernet were refreshing and well-priced. The manager was welcoming and professional and took great care of us, especially when we were 30 minutes early for our reservation. We usually don't eat meat, but the wagyu burger would make any vegetarian turn carnivorous. We'll be back!"

"A fantastic place for either dinner or just happy hour drinks. Their menu easily caters to both with fantastic ambiance. Service is attentive and friendly but not too overbearing. I will definitely be coming back."

"Very busy and bustling, the bar is lively without being too loud. Definitely tries for an upmarket feel in the decor, tables, silverware, menus etc. Food is average at best, my salmon was small and bland whilst my fellow diners burgers were shamefully basic (a bad burger is inexcusable in Chicago). Prices are a bit steep and our server was completely devoid of personality but got the job done. Will go elsewhere in future."

"This was my first time at Hubbard Inn. It was a Saturday evening and also Restaurant Week, so I'm unsure if this is how the restaurant typically is. Regardless, I was disappointing with the experience. Although the food and drink were excellent, the service was the complete opposite. We were seated 50 min. after our reservation and waited an additional 20 min. for our server to arrive. After our meal, it took an additional 45 min. to take care of the check. I was very disappointed that the wait time before and after our meal was nearly 2 hours (with a reservation). Although, I was completely unhappy with the service and likely won't return for dinner, I do recommend for the great drink selection and neat decor."

"The service and food was very good. However, for small groups, they only have high top tables which makes seating very bad for people with bad knees or any physical problem. I will not return because of that."

"We came here for the first time for restaurant week. My husband, best friend and I went on Friday Feb 8 for dinner. We had a reservation at 8:15pm and came early and had a drink at the bar. When we checked in at 8:15pm, we were told that our table wasn't ready and to wait at the bar. After 45 minutes, our table was finally ready. We enjoyed drinking at the bar, but made reservations weeks ago and were frustrated that it was 45 more minutes until we sat down. The drinks and food were great and we enjoyed the overall experience, but when our waiter (Andrew) found out that we were there for restaurant week, he ignored us for the rest of the evening. We would have ordered several more drinks, but he didn't come by until we were finished."

"Another Chicago Restaurant Week dinner - had the $33 prix fixe menu and a great bottle of wine. Place was packed so we had to wait a while for our table but they have a good cocktail list. Food was good but not outstanding. Medjool dates with goat's cheese and bacon were delicious as was the cheese faltbread. For main courses the short rib was excellent, I had scallops and gnocchi that were swimming in oil. For dessert it was this really basic chocolate mousse with whipped cream and a mint leaf on top that looked and dtasted like it had come out of a packet. Come on - it's Restaurant Week you can do better than that!!"

"I've been here before and everything was excellent. Unfortunately this time was so-so. It took forever to even be served water. I was a party of two and they sat us at the window, so we basically had to shift ourselves in order to talk so as to not both just be staring out the window. The gal who sat us basically brought us to our table and turned around to walk back. We tried to the whole "excuse me" on order to ask for a different table (which there were plenty as it was only 5:30) but she didn't even bother to turn around. She clearly didn't speak English as when we arrived she was told what to do in another language- weird. Food was fine- not great. I'm disappointed in this visit."

"My family and I came here for my birthday dinner. It was a great find in a part of the city I don't frequent enough. The first thing that wowed us was the atmosphere: awesome decor and ambiance. Then came the food. Incredible! Since it was restaurant week, dad and j had the Prix fixe. I got bacon wrapped dates, short rib, and mousse. He got flat bread, scallops, and gelato. Mom got the salmon. All were exceptional! I don't think I've ever eaten that much meat so fast and wished for more. And the chocolate mousse was to die for. Tasty cocktails too. Would definitely go here again. The only down side was the noise level, but that's to be expected on a Friday night in a busy part of the city."

"I love going to the Hubbard Inn and sitting in the back by the fireplace and having drinks. I ordered a Mojito and sent it back as it was bad, so I ordered a glass of wine instead. Then we had dinner up front. The tables and chairs are high up, so it is sort of hard to jump up on the high seat with your big coat on. We had 4 appetizers, and all the food was great. We did not order an entree, as we were too full. The wait staff there is excellent and very friendly. Will go back again."

"We had dinner reservations for 9:15, weren't sat until 10pm. We arrived and checked in at the host stand and 2 hostesses greeted us coldly then after we gave them our name and told them what time our reservation was they just ignored us so we stood around for a few minutes, then finally asked one of the hostesses if we should just go get a drink at the bar or if our table was ready and she said, yes do that, very cold and abruptly. They both looked like they didn't know what they were doing and were getting reprimanded by some manager type person. They never apologized for our tablet taking so long and never once smiled or looked happy to be there."

"Hubbard Inn is a great restaurant, however extremely loud. Expect to be yelling to communicate. Staff was stretched a bit thin so didn't come around as much as they could have. Reservations are a must, but don't be surprised if you are asked if you want to be seated with others at the same table... If you are to go again call the restaurant with a reservation and be sure to describe what kind of table you would like and where in the restaurant...if you are seated near the bar expect people to be bumping you while you eat."

"Menu was very eclectic and odd. Normally this is a good thing but here there were just too many weird ingredients in each dish. Me and my two friends all had difficulty finding something to each on the menu. Portions were average size but food was also very average. Decor and atmosphere was cool though."
