Accanto is a lively cafe, enoteca and neighborhood gathering spot located next to Genoa restaurant in Southeast Portland. Accanto inhabits a formerly vacant space in the historic Genoa Building. Offering several antipasti, small plates, housemade pastas and large plates all meant for sharing, Accanto’s menu will change with the seasons. Accanto's wine list draws from Europe, as well as the Pacific Northwest; guests can also choose from Genoa's extensive bottle selection. The beverage list features cocktails made with spirits from local distillers, as well as Italian Grappas and digestivos. Since we live in the greatest beer city in the world, local microbrews will always be on tap. After many years in the making, this quiet neighborhood corner finally comes to life. We hope that you can join us.
"Accanto is one of my new favorites. The food is always excellent and interesting. The service is spot on. I have been for dinner and for brunch. Both times I enjoyed myself very much. This restaurant was recommended to me and I can't recommend it enough now!"

"Fantastic food + flavors to be found at Accanto! This was a second visit for brunch and both were great experiences. Eggs Benedict, trout hash, deviled eggs and the donuts with lemond curd shared equal praise. Freshest, most flavorful breakfast potatoes at a PDX brunch spot I have had in a LONG time. Added bonus here- you can make reservations."

"Food was good, but not great or exceptionally memorable. The fish special was the best item. Everything else was good. Great in other cities, but we are so spoiled here in PDX."

"Restaurant way to loud for conversation which is what the 5 of us wanted. Food was good we enjoyed the food, but the noise level was a bummer. We sat next to the door to the kitchen. Our service was excellent.
We enjoy your small plates."

"Love the food at Accanto. I have eaten dinner several times and brunch a couple times. You can order small plates or a full meal. The bartender is excellent. The staff is helpful giving suggestions and accommodating your needs. Restaurant is small and definitely need reservations, especially on the weekend. Brunch is one of the best in town."

"Accanto is an offshoot of a much higher-end Italian restaurant next door, geared towards more of a neighborhood vibe, very lively. Food was very good but not outstanding. Service was... well, after informing the server that there was a birthday at the table and assured that a candle would accompany whatever we ordered, dessert came and went without it. When we remarked on it there was an apology that informed us how badly the server felt about forgetting this, but no action was taken to remedy the mistake, a mark of inexperience and poor training..."

"We shared the Dutch Bambino with rhubarb compote and cornmeal breaded fried oysters among the 5 of us. Yum. I had the trout hash which was marvelous. Two in our party had the asparagus and truffle omlette, one had the tradionale, and one had the duck hash with roasted beets. All excellent. Service was a little slow, but in a European lazy Sunday brunch kind of way. Music was a bit loud, but they turned it down upon request. Definitely will be back!"

"The butter lettuce salad was beautifully done with cream and sweet lemons. The pasta was homemade and nicely flavored with good pecorino cheese. Fresh bread, two kinds, and the perfect manhattan. Better than we'd hoped."

"This was our first trip to Accanto in a while, and we left wondering way we hadn't come back sooner. Everything from the butter lettuce salads to the Brussels Sprouts to the Pastas was delicious. We had to make a play and so our charming server got us out in good time with making us feel rushed. Great place! (Now its time for big brother Genoa again!)"

"I took my friends who were visiting from San Francisco to Accanto for brunch to show them what Northwest cuisine looks like. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The coffee was perfect and the service was very friendly. My only complaint is that our wait person seemed to get irritated that we did not leave quicker. I understand to some point, but it did not seem that there were people waiting for tables. It was a less than lovely ending to a wonderful experience."

"We love Accanto, and try to go as often as possible. In general, the wait staff is friendly, knowledgable, and give a fun vibe to the restaurant. While we did not have the type of wait service we've enjoyed in the past, it won't keep us from going back!"

"Accanto is a great neighborhood restaurant which shares a kitchen with Genoa its upscale sister restaurant. We were a party of 4 and had a great table in the back of the restaurant which was very roomy and away from most of the noise. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped steer us to some of his favorite dishes. The pasta is made in house and the pasta dishes have lots of flavor and are very satisfying. The appetizers are very generous and very good as well. We finished with hot donuts with lemon curd, one order was enough to make the four of us happy. The meal was reasonably priced and they have an adequate wine list to to go along with the delicious food."

"We hadn't been to Accanto in over a year and we were very pleasantly surprised by everything the 3 of us ordered, plus the very professional waitress who served us. (experiences in years past were pretty good but not outstanding). A special entre of Tombo tuna was perfectly prepared and complimented by the marinade and some delicious grilled radicio-like "greens." Lasagna and gnocchi with pistaccios were also outstanding. Nebbiola was excellent. The tiramisu ranks among the best I've had in my entire life -- absolutely divine (rivaled only by a favorite restaurant in San Francisco). We won't wait so long to be back!"

"While we arrived at 5 p.m for our reservation there was all but three guests in the restaurant. However,it took approximately 25 minutes to receive our food. We both ordered the Lamb Bolgonese Lasagna which was artfuly presented but the Lasasga did not have a bit of Lamb taste. We've heard so many great things about the restaurant, from the food the drinks and the ambience, unfortunately our first visit was dissapointing."

"Wow! What a wonderful find. Every person in our party of four enjoyed his or her meal: creamy, garlicky polenta, dutch baby, duck hash. The coffee was a bit too strong (undrinkable per one of us). Great setting. Beautiful light, love the art on the walls."

"Went to Accanto with 6 women who meet monthly to try a new spot. All agreed Accanto will be on our return list. A large table was reserved for us at one end of the dining room, so it felt private and we could all talk without disturbing others. Tried several things from the HH menu, including the tasty Whiskey Sour and a very nice white wine. Small plates were delicious and nicely presented. Salads were fresh and perfectly dressed, pickles especially good and the Fritto Misto was crisp and light with some nice surprises. Pastas were so tender and flavorful, gnocchi melted in your mouth. Ended with a scoop of perfect vanilla gelato with a shot of espresso poured over at table side. Service was absolutely perfect! A lovely evening."

"Discovered through OpenTable that Accanto was open for weekend brunch. We had had a nice dinner there, so we decided to try the brunch. We had a very good time - good food, good service. Recommend having the fruit plate as a side to balance the truffles (omelet), gravy/sauce (duck), etc. Overall, it was very nice. And, with our OpenTable resy's, we did not have to wait to be seated :-)"

"Wonderful food and great service. We were a group of 7, and not everyone's food came out all at once. The kitchen appears to be small and it was a busy Sunday brunch and we were having a great time, so it wasn't really an issue. Inventive breakfast treats - I will definitely return!"

"The food was fabulous and the staff very friendly and nice. The service, however, was very slow. Not sure if there was a problem in the kitchen that particular day or if this is standard at Accanto. It was not what we ordered (drinks took 15 to 20 minutes from ordering) as we ordered pasta and other things that would not be time consuming in the kitchen. Nevertheless, the staff was very nice and the food was excellent."

"This has been my favorite restaurant. I hope the departure of David Anderson doesn't spell a decline, because our dinner was not as memorable or enjoyable as usual. Our fritto misto was very good as always, but the rabbit pappardelle was nice but unexceptional. The menu had changed and there were fewer exciting offerings. Our main complaint was the very loud music--one of the things we have enjoyed about Accanto is that it is quieter than many places, with no overpowering background music. James Brown is fine in a pub or barbecue joint, but out of place in Accanto. We asked to have it turned down, and to their credit they did, though we noticed that when we were getting ready to leave it was immediately turned up again."
