Legal Harborside - Floor 1 Restaurant and Market
The first floor hull of Legal Harborside is a nod to Legal Sea Foods’ heritage, a fish market opened in 1950 in Inman Square, Cambridge that expanded in 1968 into a no-frills restaurant where guests sat on picnic tables.
Here you'll enjoy a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist as well as shareable plates, pastas and pizzas made to order in an open kitchen. Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch the shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). Opt instead for the large elliptical bar where both wine and local beers are on tap or request patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk. Other highlights include a "catch and release" trout pond and a retail market, with a fish monger on site, that offers fresh seafood, takeout and grab and go.

"Two of us visited Legals for a business lunch. Enjoyed sitting outside as it was a wonderfully warm day with no wind off of the water. Watching the busy harbor was delightful as well. My dish (Portugese Stew) was outstanding. Ask for extra bread to sop up the delicious juice! The other diner had the seafood trio and commented how good it was. Bon Appetite!"

"I've been here at least 8 times, and it's consistently excellent for fun, informal dining with a vibrant, really fun feel from the fresh layout and design to the deck opening onto the working harbor. This is THE place I bring every out-of-town guest to show off the "new" Boston.
Service is top-notch. When I commented that I'd love more wine, just not a full glass, the waiter actually said he could sell me half a glass! I was floored! I like the Sausage & Shrimp Orecchiette, but without anchovies and with green beans substituted for broccoli rabe. They make the substitutions every time, even when it's busy. The wait staff, managers, hosts are all so friendly.
Gluten-free diners feel like royalty with their own rolls & menu."

"Our server was Maggie, she was fabulous- very accomodating and took excellent care of us! We ordered the scallop &Shrimp stuffed artichoke special for the app. AMAZING. We also split a lobster roll (you HAVE to when you're in Boston), again, Amazing. I had the Scallops as my main entree, perfectly cooked, would definitely recommend. My husband ordered the Arctic Char special, which was good, until we realized we got a bad cut of fish with a ton of bones (not their fault). The manager empathized with us and comped this entree, offered to replace with something else, but we declined- shared my meal instead. They also brought us a complimentary dessert since since one of our meals wasn't up to par. Great customer service and amazing food."

"We had an 8:30 reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The restaurant was busy and it was close to graduation so we understood. Overall we had an enjoyable time. My only complaint is it took a while to be seated and took longer for our food to come. Our waitress was pleasant and the food was phenomenal!"

"We were a group of 14 including 5 kids under 10. We sat on floor 1. Food, as always, was very good. Some of our group was delayed and even though the restaurant was full, there was no pressure from the restaurant.

"Honestly amazing food. The crab & pepperoni pizza and the crab roll are absolutely to die for. The Portuguese stew is also really good. Not crazy about their smaller plates like the hummus small bites but everything else is fantastic. We also had a great waitress and amazing view."

"Service was good but my only complaint is that the waitress for some reason did not want to remove all my glasses and plates that was piling up in front of me. She kept giving me drink refills and my salad, then entree, then dessert and the dishes just kept piling up."

"Waited 30 minutes past our reservation which was a hassle as the hostest said we would be seated in a couple minutes. Because of this we did not head upstairs for a drink. They did make up for this by allowing us to choose any starter off the menu for free. After that the experience was great. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She was also very attentive and provided great servive the whole night. The friend calamari and lobster were very delicious. The Boston cream pie was more of a lava cake which was the only food item I was let down by. All in all a great place for dinner."

"we had a great server, very friendly, knowledgeable and accomodating. I recommended the skirt steak because I've had it and it was awesome and one of the individuals wanted a surf and turf combo. Unfortunately it was overcooked and the steak knife couldn't even get through it! I was bummed because I love that cut if its done properly. Her scallops(the surf part!) we're perfectly cooked. I wanted to say something to the waiter but didn't want to make a scene. I've been to your restaurant 4 times and never was disappointed but this was someone from out of town and I was trying to make an impression and it was a let down. I will be back but if you're going to offer meat on your menu it should be consistent with your seafood. Thanks."
