"Throughout the years of our son's attendance at St. John's College our family has had many occasions to eat at Harry Browne's. Whether it has been Easter brunch,lunch, or dinner with two or nine persons, the food, service, and atmosphere has always been excellent.Our most recent visit was for our son's graduation celebration; there were nine of us, and we were pleasantly seated in a raised alcove that was both open to the room, and private at the same time. A good time had by all! The only potential inconvenience: the special brunches are set upstairs; for the less able this may be a problem. Our younger guest made the trip back up to pick up desserts for their grandparents. Harry Browne's has been our favorite restaurant in Annapolis !!"

"Harry Browne's is a downtown Annapolis classic. Tucked away from the classic "docks" area on State Circle is this cute / romantic restaurant with great food and an adventurous wine list that you can enjoy with a business associate or a significant other. Not overly romantic to hamper a business only dinner, but with the right person at your side, easily romantic with its lighting, intimate tables and classic design."

"I've lived in Annapolis for > 10 years - been to nearly every restaurant in a 20 mile radius but for some reason never dined at Harry Brownes. So for my birthday I decided to give it a whirl. Notable issues were noise level was deafening inside the restaurant, took my part of 4 over an hour to get our orders. Just getting initial service and one round of drinks took longer than I'd expect. They bring water with lemon without question to the tables which should be by request first (yes someone in my group doesn't like lemons but...). We had a request to swap a petite with a standard filet and both cooked differently (med and med rare). The swap was made but the doneness was backwards. Sub-par at best... Not going back..."

"The quaintness of the circle around the old state capitol house, shady, stately trees, cobble and brick streets, tiny shops with attractive merchandise, and then,the Naval Academy just down the street so you also have the smells of the Chesapeake, the small tables with white linen cloths set on the sidewalk and the scent of good food, all these set the stage for what would have to be a delightful dining experience, and Harry Browne's does not disappoint! A recent lunch there - with a delectable fried chicken salad, a cobblestone salad with ham, turkey and bleu cheese, and a special grilled ham and cheese sandwich - what could go wrong? The spring day and the ambiance were matched by Harry Browne's chef and staff. Take me back - NOW!"

"Normally the food and service is excellent. The lobster and filet special was not as good as one would expect at this restaurant. The lobster was very chewy and the steak was not seasoned very well. The service was very slow. We attribute these problems to a new server and the fact that there was a large private party upstairs.

We will return in a few weeks and hope that service and food have returned to their normal high quality."

"We stopped off in Annapolis for lunch en route to DC. This little restaurant was a delight. We were a little anxious when we saw the linen table cloths that we were going to pay a lot more than we wanted for a lunch. But that was not the case. the prices were very moderate. The food was excellent and the service was too. Our waitress was attentive and seemed to enjoy the banter one of the party engaged in. Definitely a great find and we will certainly return the next time we find ourselves in Annapolis. The central location was an added benefit."

"Harry Browne's is a dinner out mainstay for us. We particularly enjoy the Sunday Brunch. It's a very comfortable setting with a nice mix of buffet and menu items available. Hard to choose between the Classic Eggs Benedict and the Omelet Bar .... but we enjoyed both between us."

"I took a group of 6 and struggled to get reservations. The restaurant is small, sitting around 10 tables downstairs. The food and wine were excellent. This is why it was hard to find times for the reservations. It was well worth the trouble.

I would suggest getting an appetizer because the portions were smaller than many places. I ordered the pan seared scallop and shrimp, it came with 3 scallops and 3 shrimp on a polenta brick. My calamari appertizer was done perfectly and I don't think I've had better. The bill was around $350 for 6 with drinks."

"We go to Harry Browne's for brunch and enjoy it. We decided to go for our anniversary and we had a great expericence. We had the Muscles for an appitizer. The portion was large and quite tasty. The cream sauce was nice versus a typical white wine. The beet salad was a nice compliment to the rack of lamb. I could have done without the breading on the lamb but it was good and cooked well. The highlight of the meal were the scallops and mushroom raviloi. I would stop in for just that. Service was spot on."

"The quiet atmosphere was great for a lovely dinner and conversation. Upstairs in the bar area another group of people were enjoying a more boisterous evening. A place for everyone at Harry Browne's!
The wine list is extensive and someone is always ready to recommend a great wine. The salad was crisp with the right amount of salad dressing. Both the Rockfish and Pork Chop dinners we had were excellent. The wait staff was attentive and the courses came with the right timing. Great dining experience."

"We very much enjoyed the ambience, and were grateful that you didn't seem to be too busy. It made it quieter than we anticipated, which was good for us, as one of us talked very quietly, and it would have been a strain had it been busier.
The food was great. My dessert, the bread pudding, was not that special. Should have been a sauce to pour over it..."

"this was a first time visit to a place i have heard mixed reviews on- since it was restaurant week, and the menu looked good, we decided to give it a shot.
the biggest disappointment of the evening was the fact that they had run out of one of their main entrees by the time we got there- and it was only 7 PM on wednesday evening. I don't even know how you can plan that badly. what on earth did they do for the rest of the week?
second was the tuna tartare - all it had in it, despite the description being significantly different - was tuna and cracker crumbs ( or i guess they were cracker crumbs- they were wet little blobs of something) the tuna was very good quality tho, so it was edible."

"It is always a lovely evening and dinner at Harry Brownes. A little off the beatn track with great ambience. The food was delicious- arugula salad, ahi tuna and my husband had a steak dinner. I don't know why we do not go more often. Especially to the surprisingly hopping bar upstairs."

"Harry Browne's is a long-established restaurant with a lively upstairs bar/lounge. Their food is not adventurous but it is always very good, well prepared and served nicely in a good portion size and with flair on the plate. Service here is always excellent. the decor is comfortable and lighting is subdued. Cocktails are good pours and the wine list is rspectable if not excellent. the Happy Hour upstairs is really good and friendly. It is always well attended being on State Circle in Annapolis. I think this is a place you can recommend to others or take your folks from out of town and be confident that you will have a very enjoyable meal."

"Harry Browne's was very accommodating when our group changed from 6 to 4 for our reservation. The wine recommendation was fine, except she started with the most expensive bottle on the list. Our food, selected from the restaurant week menu, was good. The tuna and rib-eye entrees were both excellent. The crab cake entrees were just OK. Dessert was delicious, our check just took a little too long to come, but we had good conversation in between!"

"Great food and very good service. Everytime I visit Annapolis it's a must to eat at Harry Browne's. It has never disappointed me. The cream of crab soup is one of the best I have ever eaten and the sandwiches are all wonderful. The service is top notch and the location is quite enjoyable. Easy walking distance from anywhere in Annapolis."

"This is our favorite restaurant in Annapolis. We first discovered it the night before we took our son to I-day in 1999 when our son wanted a great steak. The food was delicious then, and it continues to be outstanding-- the fish is so fresh, and the crab cake is the best in town! Not to mention the cream of crab soup! Yum! The menu offers nightly specials and an excellent selection of choices to satisfy all palates.
The ambience is wonderful, very inviting, and comfortable with attractive artifacts and artwork representing Annapolis throughout its history.
There is a wonderful bar upstairs as well - perfect for pre or after dinner libation!
Harry Browne's has it all!"
