"Whenever we have a special event, we always come to Nana's. We probably should come more often though as it is the best restaurant in Durham. The menu changes often, but somehow remains consistent. Risotto appetizer is a staple on our table. We tried the local asparagus w/ poached egg this time around as well. Delicious. If Venison is on the menu, get it."

"Took my wife here for her birthday recently. Everything was excellent - from the bread to the wine, from the Flounder/Gnocchi to the Chocolate Tart. The service was extraordinarily fast as well. Will revisit in the future."

"The service was excellent. The food was very good, served promptly and very hot. The waiter was very helpful with the wine. We were from out of town so Nana's was not a familiar restaurant, nevertheless, we felt very comfortable. I chose it based on internet reviews and we were most pleased. If we return to Durham, I hope we can dine there again."

"Nana's is a restaurant that is hard to beat on many levels. The food is outstanding. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the menu, the ingredients, the food prep and wine list. The ambiance is great. The space itself is beautiful, but in a relaxing way and the Jane Filer art on the walls is perfection. Its also a place that you would feel equally comfortable in a coat and tie, business casual dress or jeans. If you have never been to Nana's and you love food you should dine there as soon as possible."

"Nice ambiance, very good food but that night the dining area was very noisy. It was difficult to have all involved in the conversation for the 5 sitting at a circular table. This was the first visit in a long time and I don't recall it being this noisy previously."

"In my opinion, still the best restaurant in Durham. Hard to choose what to order. Everything sounds and is amazing. Best pork dishes in the Triangle. Great service - wait staff and bar tenders are long term employees and they remember and welcome everyone."

"The arugula, pear, blue cheese salad was delicious. I had the shrimp risotto without the lonzo, and the appetizer portion was enough for dinner. Went with old friends for a college reunion and it was just a perfect evening!"

"I know you cannot ask for a specific table on opentable, especially for a table of 6, but our table was right next to swinging door to kitchen and I had to swing my chair around so I would not constantly be hit by servers. But the food was delicious and service excellent!"

"Nana's seems more like a neighborhood bistro than an upscale restaurant. The food, however, was very upscale and fabulous. Everyone in our party raved about their particular dishes. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, personable and helpful. All in all, our best experience when visiting Durham."

"We were visiting Durham and happened upon Nana's. What a treat! The garlic soup and poached egg over polenta were outstanding. My husband's flounder was very good. We had a great bottle of vino nobile. At the end of the meal we were surprised with a little treat for our 29th anniversary. It was a great find. We'd come again the next time we're in Durham."

"Nanas continues to impress and remains one of my favorite restaurants in the Triangle. The reason for our visit was an anniversary celebration and we weren't disappointed. While we didn't indulge this time the chefs tasting menu at $50 is a true bargain, just go hungry. Whatever rissoto is being offered is always another great choice. We enjoyed two seafood dishes on this visit, both were exceptional. If you're looking for a great meal, at what I consider reasonable prices, this is the place."

"Always a treat to be able to enjoy Scott and his magnificent staff's offerings. The flounder was tender and perfectly seasoned. The surprise was how tasty the salad greens with buttermilk and Maytag blue cheese dressing was. The portion seemed more sized like an entree. The prices are excellent for what I think is some the finest food in the South."

"The service is great. And the food was well prepared. I had pear salad and succulent chicken. They were both delicious and savory. The rest of the menu was somewhat pretentious. If you like veal, pork and fishy fish, then this menu is for you. I would have liked to have seen more veggie options, perhaps a scallop dish, or maybe a creative chicken dish."

"This was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time and seeing as I live in New Orleans and dine out often I feel like that is saying a lot! The creativity but simplicity of everything we ordered was just amazing. Also, I had the best two cocktails (St. Fizz and the Nickel Pickle) and have already attempted to make them myself. We even tried to figure out if we could fit in going again on our short trip. The service was just as wonderful as the food. Our server made wonderful recommendations, knowledgeable about the menu and was happy to answer any questions. I know anytime I am in the area I will make a point to dine at Nana's and I recommend others do the same!"

Would recommend to anybody in or traveling to Durham."

"We recognize the popularity of Nana's and appreciate the unique menus. Our food and service were excellent, but noise level in the room was high. Most tables are in close proximity to others, so not as private as we would prefer."

"We were disappointed in the overall experience. The reviews suggested top notch food but what we got was very ordinary. There are better placed in Durham. We won't be back."

"Appetizers and entrees were fantastic. Dessert pailed in comparison. I wish the dessert was on the same level as the savory dishes. Service outstanding, restaurant was very loud, hard to have a conversation."

"It was a delight to walk in the door and be warmly greeted in an inviting space. Sort of like being in a beautiful home. Loved the artwork and the colors. The wait staff was excellent, never intrusive. The food was fanstastic, and would be considered superb in any major city. Loved it and can't wait to return."

"A bit disappointed based on how Nana's had been touted. Fairly good food (nothing outstanding) and pleasing decor made it a pretty enjoyable evening. However the execution was poor: Despite a reservation we still waited over 45 minutes for our table and then the waitress only checked in on us a handful of times despite the restaurant not being that large. Not worth the hype but good if you are just interested in trying places around town."

"I reserve through opentable. I went earlier than my reservation time since I was already in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, Nana's canceled my reservation through open table. Open table was nice enough to give me back my points.
The food was great after I sent it back. I ordered fish and the middle/inside part was undercooked. Our server who usually serves us when we dine at Nana's always provides great service."

"This was our first visit to Nana's and the food was excellent. I would caution individuals to check out the menu on-line before making a reservation. The selections are not for everyone - especially not a meat and potatoes person. My first reaction was there was nothing on the menu I could eat. After some study the only starter was a salad and I chose a pork loin for my entrée. My wife chose grouper. Both were excellent but there were only three choices on the menu acceptable to me. I am not into squash soup, pate's, duck and the like. We will probably go back but not on a regular basis."

"We've tried other restaurants in the area on special occasions, but always come back to Nana's because it never disappoints us. The food and presentation are outstanding and we even were able to purchase a bottle of really good sparkling cider on this visit."

"Great food, elegant cooking-- excellent sea food risotto, nicely seared fish, neatly plated with first class array of vegetables, seared spinach, leeks, savoy cabbage lentils. Truly first-class!
Service by professional wait staff; very good. Wine list leans toward exotic, hi-$--hard to find basic good stuff. Seems to be a trend in Raleigh-area spots.
Shared an after-dinner glass of house made orange "cello"--very unique.
House made ice-cream was tasty, but had crystalized. Tart tatin was good."

"Had a tasting menu with wine paring. A bit heavy on cream throughout the course, but good value tasting menu. There seems to be a bit of the confusion about the order of the food and the order of wine, but as a result, I discover interesting paring. Lovely and cozy place!"
