Row 14 Bistro & Wine Bar is a sophisticated yet approachable neighborhood cornerstone restaurant with a strong focus on the pairing of accessible wines and seasonal food offerings. Named Top Wine List 2011 by 5280 Magazine. Top 10 New Restaurant of 2011 by Westword.
Row 14 features New American cuisine in executions that allow Executive Chef Jensen Cummings to integrate many other great flavors, innovative techniques and a variety of global influences. In contrast to this worldly approach to his dishes, Cummings feels a great responsibility to sourcing locally and responsibly, and exclusively using items that are fresh and seasonal.
The goal of the Row 14 wine program - as created by owner and wine director David Schneider - is to make wine accessible, fun and affordable. For both the bottle and by-the-glass list, the goal is to source great wines from around the world that have interesting flavor profiles, pair well with food, and offer a great value.

"They are really trying for a expensive fine dining experience. They have the expensive down. The food however is pretty grim. Too salty. Weird combinations of flavored. Their spaetzel dish was more a pike of cabbage and peas. Finding the spaetzel was pretty impossible.
I wouldn't go back."

"We enjoyed meal - chef catered to all my whims because nothing on menu quite fit what I wanted (because I wanted it all!) so he made a "custom" dish. Appetizers were great and shareable - mussels and cheesesteak empanadas!! Wine list seemed very nice - tried a crisp white from Spain and enjoyed. Patio seemed very nice - we sat just inside and enjoyed it. Met owner - very personable and welcoming. Will be back!!"

"Although it was noisy because our table of 8 backed up to the bar, we did fine and everyone had a good meal without going over the top of my budget. Only regret was we ordered a good white wine and when we re-ordered there was no more. Strange for a wine bistro. Wish the waiter had told us this was the last bottle when we ordered the first time. Otherwise , much fun."

"The short ribs were great. I had the pork tenderloin, raw in the middle. Not how I like my pork. I sent it back and did get more to my liking. Our waiter seemed very confused about the menu and our dessert was not very good. I will not go back. When you have so many choices for great experiences in dining, why pay for a mediocre night.

"Once seated it took at least 10 minutes for someone to wait on us and we sat there for another 15 minutes and had to physically ask if it was Ok to go the buffet when a staff member came by. The staff overall was inattentive and really seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The food was very limited (5-6 items) and was overall poorly prepared and lacking any flavor. It was obvious that many of the “pastries” had been taken out of a box and the eggs were extremely watery. Its truly unfortunate that a restaurant with such as great location and setup has such poor food and service. I hope they reconsider having this brunch ever again and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"I ordered the braised shortrib and when it I received it, it was cold.
I never send food back because things happen in the back.

"Food quality was mixed. Two meals were outstanding (roast chicken and steak). The pasta was a disaster. Terribly cooked noodles made it inedible. We had tickets to symphony, so no time to ask for a replacement. Service was very good. At 6pm on Friday night, very loud with folks enjoying happy hour. Too loud for our tastes, but maybe others would enjoy the energy."

"I made the reservation for a work group of frends. Wait staff as great and the hotel even gave us a certificate for free wine. The wine chosen by the waitress was great, as were the cocktails. The Rum was wonderful!
I was not in love my choice of short ribs as my main (too bland) but the appetizer of spring rolls was excellent."

"I booked a reservation based on great reviews, and expecting a great meal for a girls night out. Our waiter suggested a wine that was fantastic. Unfortunately we had to send back the appetizer( mussels which included several dead ones), and then the main course(duck, it was tough and dry). Our waiter was very put out, despite our effort to let him know we understand these things happen. He did later apologize for his attitude which I appreciated, and left him a good tip. It wasn't his fault the food was bad. I imagine it was an off night, perhaps we weren't the only ones sending dishes back. We wont be going back."

"I had a terrible dinner here last week. The food was burned, flavorless, and pretty much just embarrassing. The atmosphere was LOUD and I could hardly even hear myself talk. It was very expensive, especially considering the very poor quality. I would never recommend this to anyone, ever. The only good thing was that I got 1000 points out of it. I will not return."

"I was pretty disappointed with Row 14...the gnocchi appetizer had 9 tiny gnocchi...definitely not worth a dollar a bite. Perhaps if there had been some bread with which to eat the sauce, it might not have felt so paltry. And my steak tasted charred, although the cherry sauce helped to cover that flavor. I will say that the large table next to ours had problems with two of their meals, and the waiter switched them out for completely different entrees with no complaints."

"It was a good experience, I just thought the food might be a little more flavorful. The fries that came with the sliders were a bit soggy. The broth with the mussels could have used a little "umph." "Great service. When we got there, our table they had set aside for us was still in use, and the people having dinner were taking forever to pay their bill (or "check" as they say here). The hostess seated us temporarily at the bar, and when they still weren't moving, she brought us complimentary glasses of champagne, all the while apologizing profusely.
The food is wonderful. I had the lamb bolognese, which is superb. The wines are good, too."

"Easter brunch was very good. The only recommendation I have for the restaurant is to provide more sauces. The crapes were dry but the filling was fantastic. The duck confit was incredible and the price was perfect. We will go back!"

"We made reservation at Row 14 because it was close to the theater. They have valet parking for $8 and you can leave your car there and come pick it up after the show. We started with the White Bean Dip and the Ricotta Gnocchi. Both were very good. We especially liked the Ricotta Gnocchi. It was so soft and yummy and the asparagus was delicious. My husband had a 2011 Syrah from Two Rivers Winery and it was very good.
My husband had the flank steak, which had a bit of a gas char to it, but if he ate it with the cherries it tasted fine. He like the kale that came with it. I had the duck breast, which was good. The polenta that came with it had a seasoning that I didn't care for, not sure what it was. But the broccolini was great!"

"First visit here before a night at the opera. We arrived a few (10) minutes before our scheduled reservation and we were seated immediately. Ordered drinks, which were fine, and then ordered salads and entrees. Salads were fine but not extraordinary. Entrees took almost an hour to arrive. Waitress was very apologetic. Salmon entree was good. But the side of some potatoes was overdressed in a soup of balsamic. My husband liked his pork entree. It felt like we were rushing to get to our show because the food took so long. Not sure I would return."

"Love this place! The food is delicious and different, the homemade tonic makes a stellar vodka tonic, , the bartenders are super friendly, the happy hour prices are great.
