"Lunch service- terrible and slow. Sat down and no acknowledgement or even offering water. Had to ask to finally get water. Server took a long time to come over to take the order--- 2 softdrinks ordered and delivered at a reasonable time. However it took so long for the food to come and the softdrink glasses were empty the whole time- no offer for a refill untill we had to flag someone down. So many people working but they had no idea what to do---Very disappointing."

"Got a table for 4 hear last second through OpenTable, after failing to get a table at "The View" (packed with drinkers at 11pm).
The place is VERY nice. The entrees cost about 25 per. VERY good food. My girlfriend had the Duck Canatelli with Truffles, she loved it. I had the Halibut. It is the best halibut I've ever had in my life. No joke.
Ambient lighting, good food. Perfect last second place. Surprised it's not busier."

"Bluestem always delivers great dining experiences. My partner and I ordered the delectable lamb burger and the duck confit salad, both being exceptional. I think what separates this restaurant from most with a focus on meats is that they have their own butcher room and a certified butcher on staff. I've never been disappointed in any meal there and my lunch was no exception once again. You can count on one or both owners of the restaurant to work the floor themselves on any given day, that is how solid the service is. Highly recommended when on market street and looking for an excellent meal."

"In the heart of downtown where all the shopping is, hidden right behind Coffee Bean, this restaurant has surprised me twice!
I've been here twice, once for dinner and once for sunday brunch. What I love most is the food is fresh and flavorful, the servers are polite and thoughtful, and I feel they separate each dining party well enough so louder groups are not interrupting the more quiet people. Dinner can be a bit pricy but it's worth it for the food, service, and 100/100 health score. If you want to experience the place and not have your wallet bleed, go try their brunch/lunch."

"Bluestem Brasserie was super helpful in getting us set up on the patio and with a heat lamp in case the wind was too much. Our server recommended us sharing plates so we could try different things, some did, others did not. We were not disappointed. The portions were healthy and the food was all delicious. We had plenty of brunch cocktails and our server made sure no one went without, especially the bride-to-be. This was a great location close to BART with patio seating. The Bloody Mary however left something more to desire. I loved the garnish of cocktail onion, caper berry, and olive, but the mix was a little bland. Definitely a great choice for groups as they were accommodating. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty low key."

"This tucked away, not easy to find restaurant turned out to be average. I had high expectations from good reviews and the menu. Great atmosphere and decor. From the center cut hardwood floors, high ceilings, lots of windows and unique art there was plenty to look at. Mixed crowd of twenty something and business dinners. The menu is a limited mix of land and sea with nightly specials. Steak tartare was mild with subtle favors and came out warmer than expected. Oysters were Small but sweet. Cilantro mignonette was aperfect Pairing while the frozen cucumber water didnt work. Barramundi was very good with its crispy skin. Over cooked potatoes but a delicious well balanced blood orange sauce accompanied the fish."

"Our third visit to Bluestem, and this was the first time we were seated upstairs. We enjoyed it! Food, Drinks, Service all wonderful. The burger is definitely up there with the very best in SF, and the appetizers and desserts also very creative. We like this menu, and although not a bargain, it's good value for the money."

"I dined at Bluestem with a group of six for a going-away party. We started leisurely at the bar for nicely done cocktails. We were then seated upstairs which allowed for a more relaxed and private setting w/o the need to shouting over each other. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food choices were varied and tasty. I had the pork dish made 3 different ways which I really enjoyed. All in all a very solid dining experience which I could recommend."

"Had such a great anniversary at Bluestem and am so glad my husband and I came here. Food was so delicious and the staff was so helpful! We asked for a recommendation on a beer and the manager suggested one and now it is my husband's favorite beer. We live far away but it will now be our place to go when we are in SF. Thank you everyone at Bluestem for making my husband and I's first anniversary dinner so special!"

"I'd never heard of this restaurant until a friend recommended it when I was looking for a place to have a good lunch. Though it's in the heart of downtown, it was wonderfully quiet & cool indoors on a warm day. ). Our server was exceptional, and the four of us had a delicious meal with a very nice rosé. One of us had the frittata, which was very good. Also recommended: the steak tartar with quail egg. Unlike many restaurants, this one offered a well-chosen cheese platter in addition to sweet desserts---but no one complained about the cookie jar or the Honolulu Hangover, either.
The decor and flowers of Bluestem are elegant and tasteful; I highly recommend this restaurant and definitely plan to return."

"What a great spot for lunch located so close to the museums! From the moment we went into Bluestem Brasserie to the moment we left, we enjoyed every aspect. The maitre d' moved our reservation up very graciously. The menu has a lively, almost self-deprecating tone, very refreshing after so many restaurants that take themselves too seriously. Our waiter was a gem, understanding our need to share dishes, providing us with fresh plates for that purpose, refilling our water glasses frequently. My only complaint is that we were never offered ice in our water on a very hot day. However, a minor glitch in a very delightful lunch experience."

"A friend from out of town was staying at the Marriot Hotel, and this was the conveniently located restaurant my wife and I chose to take her to. We knew we would have about 2 hours to visit with her, and that worked out well, because that is about how long it took us to have appetizers, a main course, and dinner. The restaurant was noisy but not too noisy for nice conversation, and it was a very comfortable place to enjoy each other's company. The food was excellent, prices reasonable, and the service was attentive, though, as I said, slow. This is a great place to take an out of town friend, especially when you want to have time for a nice long visit in a comfortable and convenient location that is close to the convention center."

"A relaxing dinner was exactly what I needed for a long week at work. My fiancee and I decided to give Bluestem a try after reading the positive reviews of others. We made a reservation at 7:30 on a friday night, and was promptly seated to our table. The first thing that we enjoyed was the ambiance and the thought put into the decor. The fresh flowered center piece really added a sophisticated touch.
We had the Roasted Bone Marrow and Fried Green tomato Caprese. Black Truffle Cavatelli, Apple-Fed Pork with Rye Spaetzle and for desert the Honolulu hangover. A few of the dishes was a little to heavy on the olive-oil but other than that the flavors were pretty good. Overall awesome experience"

"I hosted a birthday party here for my boyfriend's birthday and we were very impressed with the service and the food. Our waitor was very knowlegable on the menu and drinks offered which helped us make diner and drink choices. We received our drinks and food in a timely manor and they were all very good good. I was a little unhappy with the flavoring of the artichoke on my dish and the flavoring of the duck that my boyfriend got, however everything else was delicious. We were also very happy with the fact that we were able to reserve the big round wood table by the window, it really made our dinner and party really special."

We never felt rushed to finish up and clear the table for the next patrons. The coffee was also great. Go there when you have a chance. "Hostess should know not to sit a group of five business guys in a booth where they're rubbing legs with each other just to fit in. It was so awkward we had to ask to move to another table, which wasn't a huge problem in the early evening empty restaurant. Wait staff adequately performed the minimal service required, but nothing beyond that. The food was good and varied in the menu offerings to support a wide range of tastes, but it really wasn't memorable. The best item was the citrus sundae. All in all, it's okay for a group dinner, but I'm not convinced the price/value ratio is up to par with other similar priced venues available in the City."
