"We had a large group for a birthday party. The food was just ok and the service was not very good. Our entrees were served cold and the side dishes arrived after we had eaten most of our entrees. The worst part was the hostess....she was incredibly rude to us. I would not recommend this restaurant for groups."

"We decided to go for a selection of appetizers rather than entrees, which was a lot of fun... The staff was always glad to provide us with plenty of hot, tasty sourdough bread to accompany the appetizers, and each selection was inventive and yummy. The only exception was the chowder, which we feel should have had more CHOWDER in a bigger bowl for the price!
Unfortunately, there were 2 infants in the dining room that definitely put a damper on the dining experience at this upscale restaurant. We are always dumbfounded by the lack of consideration on the part of parents taking infants to a fine dining establishment, or taking young children that haven't been taught how to keep quiet...

"Our past experience with West Shore Cafe had been really great so we were disappointed with our recent visit. We love the venue and the views of the lake are spectacular.
Service - the Waiter seemed very inexperienced and unattentive. He rarely came by our table and when he did he seemed uninterested and bored. He never asked us whether we liked our food.
The appetizers were OK but not great. The main dishes were really poor. The Short Ribs were fatty and the mashed potatoes had far too much horseradish in them. The pasta dish did not taste good. A couple of our party did not feel good a few hours later.
Overall our experience was very negative. I hope the restaurant does something to improve as we would like to return in the futu"

"Nice ambiance, although this restaurant really shines in the summer with its lakeside patio and panoramic views, it is cozy and warm with great views in the winter. Mondays in the winter are half price entrees!!"

"This was only our second meal at the West Shore Cafe, but we enjoyed it immensely. We started with the crab bruschetta, which was served on a large slice of french bread. It was particularly good, without being overly filling. Just right for two people. The special that evening was chicken fried steak, but not your father's chicken fried steak. Being intrigued with that as a special, we both ordered it and it was great. It even included two glasses of wine for $20, so not only was it delicious, it was a great value. We ended the dinner by sharing the blackberry-apple cobbler. In all a great meal for a great price. I don't think we'll ever return to the Sunnyside Restaurant, which for years has been our "go-to" place for fine dining."

"I was very impressed with the overall experience. You can beat looking across lake tahoe while enjoying a 5 course meal!
The bonus was to see a family of 5 dine. There is plenty of room and the open atmosphere does not drown you with the family chatter.
Make friends with this place as you should be back once you visit!"

"My husband and I have dined at west shore cafe several times before and have had very nice experiences. The setting is lovely and the staff is very friendly. This time, I and another in our group ordered the braised short ribs, and I am sorry to say they were awful. I have never sent back a food item in a restaurant, but I was sorely tempted this time. The meat was tough and undercooked, and I'm not even sure it was a short rib cut. The horseradish mashed potatoes were tasteless (no hint of horseradish flavor) and the three small roasted carrots were skimpy. The others In our party enjoyed their meals, however, and our waiter was amusing and attentive. Hopefully the chef will get the braising thing right on the next visit."

"After many trips to the Homewood area and passing by this restaurant with interest many times. We decided to go there for our anniversary dinner.
It is a beautiful location and atmosphere lots of locals but extreamly loud with lots of people with a little too much wine in their system.
The live music was wonderful our server very attentive."

"Service has been hit or miss here during the summer months, but our most recent visit was a clear hit. Seth was our waiter and was attentive, knowledgeable about the wine list and friendly. When my wife wasn't sure which wine to order, he generously offered to allow her to taste a couple of samples. The pacing of the food delivery was very good. Our courses were delivered at intervals that were neither rushed nor excessive. Mac and Cheese was some of the most flavorful I've eaten lately and brussel sprout and bacon appetizer was fantastic. All in all, a very nice winter evening."
