This charming and intimate restaurant serves a generous and creative fresh market cuisine, cheerfully prepared by chef-owners Marc De Canck and Olivier de Montigny. At La Chronique, the pleasures of the table are always front and centre. But in addition to the delights it serves up, the restaurant is also known for its extensive wine list, welcoming décor and impeccable service. Little wonder it's been considered "essential eating" in Montreal since 1995.
"Nous sommes allés souper avec un couple d'amis et nous avons pris la table d'hôte 7 services avec l'accord mets-vins. Le souper a été très bon, les accords mets-vins sont toujours aussi agréables. Le sommelier nous fait explorer des vins qui sortent de l'ordinaire. Soirée très agréable."

"La Chronique has moved across the street from their previous location. The vibe in the long, narrow ground-level restaurant (they have upstairs seating too for special occasions) is a bit trendier and not as cosy as the previous location. However, the creative, just-right dishes and enthusiastic service are the same. Still my favourite Montreal restaurant!"

"The menu at La Chronique is small, but absolutely amazing. Every flavor left me wanting more. I have already recommended this restaurant to my French colleagues as I think this restaurant is very special. The cuisine is truly art. The restaurant was almost completely empty. We were only 4 in the place the whole night so the ambiance was really poor. On a busier night, I am sure that it would be more enjoyable. I am concerned that if more people don't try this restaurant that it will close! And that would be a real tragedy."

"I did much research on where I'd like to hit up for dinner on my weekend escape to Montreal two weekends ago, and something about La Chronique just stood out for me. It was my first time in Montreal, so I wanted to experience the best cuisine the city has to offer. And La Chronique went above and beyond my expectations! Let's just say MINDBLOWING. I had the foie gras to start, not one for it but I felt compelled to try it in Montreal. If you're not into foie gras, like I was, it'll make you a true believer! As for the entree, I had the angus steak. Pure heaven. The wine and champagne recommended by the maitre d' was simply exquisite. They sure do know their alcohol! And the service - the *BEST* I've ever experienced! Hands down."

"La Chronique recently moved from theirs digs across the street. It's a bit early to tell how they will manage in the new place as it seems a bit colder and darker than the original spot. Hopefully, they will get things in order soon. As for the food, nothing in the move has changed and the same outstanding quality and imagination is provided. It will continue to be one of my favs."

"For 500$ per couple without tip you expect outstanding ... Maby not our lucky night but when the only noise in the restaurent is the sound of cutlery on china and you need to wisper to have a conversation something is off... a little music would not hurt. timing of the service was off soup with no spoon , empty plates parked in front of you and wine glases waiting to be topted off ... At this level of experience and sophistication you expecte flawless execution and atttention to detail by the stff. The worst was that the somelier kept on making sarcastic comments about the fact the we complained cutlery was missing ... Not our best night out for st valentins !"
