"Food & service were great. Sadly, however, we didn't the expected romantic & quiet Saturday evening. Someone was hosting their birthday party/dinner right in the dining area & took over the whole place. She was loud & constantly made announcements throughout the evening. Her guests were making speaches too. It was as if we were crashing their party. We really should have been pre-warned by West when we made our reservation. That was disappointing."

"What a surprise. I hadn’t been since they first re-opened a few years ago and was blown away by the food. Was there on a Wednesday for lunch, very quiet- maybe four other groups. Very affordable, $12 salads or $28 for skirt steak and arugula salad with shave parmesan cheese, yummy. I parked on the street but there is valet too. Can't wait to go back."

"West is located in place you would not even think to consider a restaurant. The Angeleno hotel is an old Holiday Inn that is iconic for the area. The views are fantastic as you can see from downtown LA to Catalina and over towards Malibu. It affords a nice bar and the food is very good."

"While the view is fantastic, the ambiance very good, the food misses the mark. Expecting an excellent cut of meat for a $40 rib eye, the cut was well below par, a disappointment. Too expensive for what you received. The cocktails were good. My recommendation, stick to the bar for a nice drink, the scenic view and have dinner elsewhere."

"While our server was attentive, the kitchen was extrememly slow. We were seated promptly for an 8PM reservation, but didn't get served our main course until 9.30. Our bill came at 11. The food wasn't very inventive. I had shrimp risotto which was a bit on the oily side and my husband had the salmon which was seasoned and served with the skin side up so all of the flavor was lost once you ate the fish. The menu wasn't extensive and there weren't multiple options that interested us. While we had an enjoyable time and the view is fun, we won't return. Also, the bartender had no idea how to make a champagne cocketail and had the barback ask me how to make one."

"I was encouraged to visit West because of a Groupon deal. The service was good, although knowledge of the wine list was a little vague, but our waitress did bring the bottle for a taste.
Our appetizer 3-dishes for $18 were good value. We had the eggplant Parmesan, calamari and anchovy insalata. All were well done. The lamb entree was good, although not as tender as expected. My halibut with kale and beans was very good with crispy skin. The creme brulee dessert was competent. Nothing amazing.
On this Monday evening there was a live jazz band in the lounge which attracted a full house.
This is a nice place. The service is attentive and friendly and with validation valet is ok for a hotel at $7. Not sure I'd make this a favorite of m"

"I was expecting alot more from this resturant! But hotel was very small, and the view was not that great. Once we got seated it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to even come to our table to introduce herself.(let me add, it is not even busy!) When she finally did and we placed our drink orders I never recieved my drink. We had other waitress ask us if we wanted anything to drink and told them we had already placed our drink order. After finally recieving it we placed our food order and that came out in a good amount of time. But after that we never saw our waitress again! At least at our table, during our meal she asked the table next to us 3 times if they were doing okay and if she could get them anything but never once to us!"

"My friend and I went here for his birthday, and we had an amazing time. The food was excellent, and the service was stellar; our server Deirdre took good care of us, and pretty much every staff member there told us to "have a good night," etc. and I think the manager/owners came by our table at the end as well and asked us how our meal was. We got a window seat, which was nice as we had a view of the Getty, which seemed only a few footsteps away. I can't tell you how many times I have driven past this on the 405, but had no idea how fabulous it was! My only complaint is that in the Opentable comments I had said it was my friend's birthday, but when they brought dessert they didn't put a candle or anything. Say something that night!"

"It's a nice place for a special occasion since things are rather pricey. The view from the restaurant is nice since it's at the top of the hotel on the 17th floor. It's a classy place. The food wasn't necessarily spectacular since it's more about the ambiance anyway. It's also pretty dark inside, like other expensive places. It wasn't particularly busy so service was good."

"My Dining experience was great, and with Dine in LA affordable..I am not sure now that Dine in LA is over if I can come bacause of the price point..it would be great if they had a special that would be more affordable.....the Valet broke my windshield wipers and was not very pleasant about it......they did comp me a cab home, but were unappologetic and surly....today I had them repaired at Jaguar , who said they were not broken, just they had both been loosened! "The cauliflower soup and cheescake dessert (from their Dine LA menu) were delicious. The short rib was excessively fatty without sufficient meat to balance. Also, the waiter took nearly ten minutes before approaching our table, and subsequently offered a consistently disinterested attitude for the entirety ofnthe meal. The other servers and support staff seemed to be more on the ball.

"Don't let the outside view of Hotel Angeleno fool you. At night, it looks completely different. Valet parking is the only option when you get there so be aware of that. West restaurant and lounge is located on the 17th floor and automatically feels trendy once the elevator doors open. Awesome bar - try the cantaloupe martini.I mainly wanted to go because of the awesome view. So if you can get a seat by the window, I would. From the bar alone you could see the 405 fwy and everything around. A very romantic but lowkey place. Seemed like a place for an older crowd, but I'm still glad I came. It's not very well lit, but there are candles everywhere. Food was pretty good and service was pretty decent"

For example, I requested a window seat when I made a reservation two days before the date, you guess it, we had to wait for our table and no window seat, "You are invited to wait in our lounge for one, when it becomes available."...Hmmm. Our waitress was very nice and service oriented. But, the other staff was untrained. Had to beg for bread twice. I ask if I can have some sauce for my steak and was told that the sauce was on the steak. Our waitress had more of a customer service approach by asking me if I wanted to have some extra. Overall, an enjoyable meal, but, not over the top."

"The food and atmosphere was above average, but the service was very slow. Upon arriving a little early we sat at the bar waiting for the hostess to check to see if a table was ready for us and that she would come and get us when/if the table was available (which is what she told us she would do). 20 min. pass our reservation time we had to go to the hostess and remind her we were there. After being seated, it took another 20 min. before our waitress came over to acknowledge us and offer us anything to drink. Our waitress was very slow to attend to us throughout the rest of the night. If the management can get their staff to put the customers first then I would highly recommend this place to others. "Great potential here. Food was A- (Skip the dried out calamari) and the bartender needs to go easy on the bitters and vermouth in a Manhattan. Waitress was a kick and knew the menu and wines. Great view, location, decor. I agree with one diner who said that the restaurant was trying to figure out whether it wanted to be a serious eatery or a club scene. Pounding drum machine does not mix with dinner. If you want to turn off lots of folks who might want to converse at dinner, this is the way to do it. Despite the strong points noted above, I'd think twice about dinner here with that sound track."

"Quite lovely and potentially romantic but for the 70's disco music playing throughout dinner. Were the music more digestion friendly the experience would have been lovely. Great view of the roof and upper levels of the condos next door. Where are the vistas you would expect from a spot billing panaramic views? Excellently marbled and seasoned Ribeye, and the Oso Buco did fall off the bone. I espedcially enjoyed the house green salad which was inventive and unique. Ahi tartare was good, but not the best I've had; chunks of ahi were too big and thus a bit tough."

"This place is great. I have been to many restaurants and I would just give it a good, just because I know there are better places out there. The menu is somewhat small, so I would check it out before you head over there. I got the filet and it was SUPER good. My girlfriend got the salmon and I must say, it was very juicy. I would go back again...If you are looking for something new and different, you should check it out..."

"West Restaurant at Angeleno is ideally located as a mid point between the San Fernando Valley & West Los Angeles. The food, service, and art deco meets modern ambiance, are all good. The spectacular view overlooking West Los Angeles makes the dining epxperience an esepcially rembered event. On the day of my particular business lunch the weather was fowl; moderate to heavy rain. This detracted from the view experience but, made this business luncheon more subdued than it may have otherwise been. This, I believe, enhanced the actual dining experience. Becuase of the rain, the restaurant was not serving many customers, thus quiet. The $7 validated parking fee I believe to be high."

"West was an absolute pleasure for my wedding Anniversary dinner(or for any other occasion at all). The food and service were far superior to most restaurants in Los Angeles. I have not enjoyed a meal like that in a while. I sent my compliments to the chef with the waiter and with utmost class (as this restaurant exudes), within the next 15 minutes, the chef appeared at our table. We were thrilled to be able to ooh and aah over the food, to the chef, personally. The ambience and the view is so romantic and the service supreme. I highly recommend this wonderful find and can't wait to go back."

"Beautiful view of the city at night, and a very nice menu, quite good (a bit too pricey) food, and pleasant, if a bit slow, service. Somehow the place does not cohere though - it lacks personality/character (not unexpected, it is a hotel restaurant). It would be a great place to go drinking and eat with business cronies, especially if some are from out of town, but is rather impersonal for a neighborhood restaurant. PS The only parking is valet, and costs more than it should."

"It was so dark at first, we had to use our iPhones to read the menus. The waitress should learn to use a light touch ( a little at a time)when pouring from a half bottle, never more the a Qtr. of the glass. Otherwise, an excellent experience."

"The food was a little disappointing especially for the price. The restaurant was quite cold and I kept asking for the heat to be turned up or the AC turned down but it never happened. The waiter was very nice but very distracted he forgot to bring the wine with our meal but did take it off the bill which was a good gesture. Overall it was a nice evening but not sure I'd go back."

"What I found most interesting that when I tried to make reservations for 5 at that time, it said it could not do it .... Upon arrival of my reservation (same time, 1 less body) there were 2 , 2 person tables there and NO one else .... So my original reservation should NOT have been a problem.
I informed the restaurant of the 'conflict' ...."

"Our second time at the restaurant, this time choosing from the regular menu. The food was good to very good. The steak was not the best I have ever had but definetely good and better than other places claiming to be a steakhouse. We had Martha as our server for the second time and service was spectacular, she is wonderful. The view is very good being up at the 17th floor overlooking the Los Angeles basin."
