"Ember has a somewhat odd fusion menu, most of which worked. I had the hangar steak with an unattractive, but delicious, sauce and my friend had the Spaghetti a la Drunken Man. Both were good, but didn't blow me away. The Thai tacos and fishcake appetizers were delicious. The desserts are not worth the calories."

"Very much enjoyed our pre-theater dinner. One of us got the prix fixe menu, which is a great bargain at $25 for a glass of wine, appetizer, entree, and dessert, the other ordered off the regular menu. Nice portions of VERY tasty food. The ambiance is quite pretty except for the jarring rumbling from whatever system they've got churning below or in the walls. We moved our seats and felt it less, but it is a bit of a distraction."

"Ember Room was deceiving from the outside, looking like a very small intimate restaurant but it actually quite large in the interior. Food was excellent and while the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, I think our server was new and also not fluent in English which made things slightly awkward. We had the chicken curry and terra cotta fish cakes to start which had just enough heat and enabled us to actually taste the food not just the spice. Dinner was pad thai lobster and a lobster roll with the famous fried rice with pork sausage and chorizo. All were delicious. A great spot in the theater district and we would certainly go back there again."

"The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. I started with the Crystal Salad. The seafood was cooked well, but the sauce on the glass noodles was so hot it was impossible to eat after a few bites. Thai is supposed to be spicy, but this was out of control. I told the waiter it was too hot and, naturally, my Cashew Chile Chicken entree was bland...and the chicken was overcooked. I could have gotten chicken just a good at any Chinese lunch buffet anywhere int he country. The ambience/decor is pretty meh, too. Service was friendly and occasionally attentive. The speaker near where we at was way too loud, too. I don't recommend this restaurant. It seems to be very overrated."

"Smoked salmon wrapped lettuce was good as were the crispy bean curds as appetizers. For entrees, the sea bass was good, fried rice almost below average, and the green curry vegetables were, I thought, exceptional. Service was a bit lacking - too many tables per waiter perhaps, or just mediocre staff. The vibe was good but couldn't seem to decide what it wanted to be with clubby music but strangely an older hetero couple crowd when we were there. Not exceptionally memorable, but reasonably priced for the experience."

"We had an early dinner before a Saturday night show, and the restaurant was not very busy, but starting to pick up. The waitress was very helpful, and gave us thoughtful, detailed recommendations. Service was quick and not overly conspicuous. We were even able to get in two beers at Happy Hour prices! The food was great, unusual, and very reasonably priced for NYC. We had a special Easter appetizer - eggs in a basket of rice noodles with Tamarind sauce -- which was delicious. I loved my Pork Belly, and my husband ate every last bit of sauce on the plate of his chili glazed sea bass. We'll be back..."

"Great food and perfect portion. Dessert( lime crepes) was unexpectedly delicious!. Service was very good, attentive and checked on you once in a while. Great drinks collections. Good ambience just a bit noisy, but still tolerable!. They sent one of the dishes to the table wrong and they fixed it immediately, I was impressed!. Great vibes of energy. The waiters/ waitresses including the busboys were very friendly and helpful."

"This was my second time dinning here and it has become one of my favorite places to eat. It's good for a romantic dinner or even a group of friends. The first time was on valentines day and I fell in love with it. The food was amazing, service was on top of things and the atmosphere made the night. Last time I was here it was me, my boyfriend, his sister and her friend and they also loved it. Joseph was an amazing server. I would recommend ember room to anyone who wants good food, good service, and an amazing night!"

"First timers we found the service and food to be terrific. We selected a number of appetizers and entrees off the menu and shared. Particularly outstanding was the scallop salad and the mango salad. It's modern Thai so the food stays true to the tradition but with a modern flair. Our waiter was super wonderful, attentive and helpful. We dined early at 5:30 before the theatre but even by 7:15 when the place had filled up it wasn't noisy. We also had a lovely dessert of 14 layers of crepes with some lemon filling. It sounds huge but it wasn't. It also wasn't too sweet--quite a nice way to end the meal."
