"Me and my boyfriend dined here and we were completely satisfied. The food was excellent and our waiter was great!!! The only negative is that the dining room is a little cramped, but we will definitely be coming back!!"

"Derek's was amazing. The layout is so elegant and refine with just a little modern flare. The staff were tremendously accommodating and the food was delicious. I've been here twice for dinner and both times the service was impeccable. The menu is slightly pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. The drinks are great as well. I ordered a moijito from here and it was made to perfection. The location is ideal for an upscale experience without having to venture too far from home. We were seated quickly and received our orders in a timely fashion. I will be dining here again and hopefully people will view this review and want to do the same."

"I know it is always a bad idea to eat out on Mother's Day but this was an especially bad experience. This restaurant is not big enough to host a brunch. And then they only had 1 person at the egg/omelet station. The result was a long line, cold food and many unhappy patrons. Some people just left rather than deal with the hassle."

"I've been to Derek's on a couple other occasions and been happy so I figured it would be nice for Mother's Day. I had a reservation for 2 and upon arrival felt the hostesses anxiety, few wanted to sit outside as it was cold and there was a wait for a table. Ok so the buffet line was long and I felt the food was not presented in the best way it just didn't look good, tasted ok but looked tired and unappetizing. The cook maning the omelet station did not know the proper way to make an omelet and was really just making scrambled eggs to order and added way too much grease to the pan making the eggs really yuck. Brunch buffets at Derek's is not their forte."

"The staff acted like they didnt want to be there...on Mothers day! We appreciate you working while everyone arounds celebrates but at least ACT like you want a TIP OR SOMETHING! I literally watched the table across from me get up and leave after receiving their drinks because the waitress acted liked she couldnt be bothered! Ina business were customer service is how the money is made, they could care less!"

"We went here to enjoy a Special Mother's Day meal and enjoy we did. The service was great. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The buffet was delicious. There were numerous freshly cooked items to chose from. We enjoyed the create your own omelette bar and the French toast made from hallah. The Cesar salad was fresh and tasty. The serving containers were constantly being refilled so that you never had to wait for something you wanted to eat. The atmosphere was nice and we would recommend everyone try Derek's. it has been around for 20+ years for a delicious reason."

"After being seated outside on a Friday night, with a res, they gave us water and took drink order in a timely manner, as expected. But then we waited. Took half hr to take our order, still no bread. An hr later we had to ask for another drinks round. 75' after sitting we got a measly basket of pita bread, one tiny inch square each. 90' after sitting I got my salad appetizer. And then the mains finally came. Boy-O- boy that pork was worth waiting for. Tasty. Small portion though."

"I wanted to try something new other than the downtown resturant. I was not disappointed. Derek's was a perfect choice to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The moment we walk in the door we were welcomed by a friendly host. Our waitress was outstanding and the food was the same. I will definitely return to Derek's for another meal. "My girlfriends and I hadn't seen one another in years, so I selected Derek's. The food was great; however, our table was in the back of the restaurant where it was very noisey. In addition, our waitress kept checking to see if we put our payment on the table because she was ready to go. That drove me absolutely instance. If it wasn't for the food, I probably wouldn't go back."

"We have been to Derek's multiple times and always enjoy the food, the only downside is how cramped the seating area is. You are really sitting on top of other couples. Back to back seating is super tight and there is really no room between tables next to each other either. It's basically one long line and you sit across from who you come with."

"We have eaten at Derek's multiple times. The food is always unique and tasty. We made the mistake of taking a booth by the bar, which was occupied by a bunch of loud 20-somethings. We asked the waitress if we could have a pizza with half plain/half pepperoni, since our 3 year old would have had the plain for dinner. Her response was, "we can't do that". The service was also very slow, as they were fairly crowded.
Derek's dropped down significantly on our list of places where we want to eat after our last experience there."

"I've been to Derek's a few times before this visit and even hosted a holiday party there but this time was less than exceptional. The waiter seemed frazzled, didn't really know the menu and was less than accomodating when my friend did not want her entree. "My dining experience at Derek's was outstanding. I was entertaining friends from out of town and decided to try something a little bit different. They enjoyed the shops along Main Street and our experience at Derek's provided the highlight of our evening. The quality of the food was truly outstanding. I had the barbeque chicken wings as an appetizer. The sauce was sweet and spicy and the wings were meaty and tender. My entree was mussels and pasta and again I scored big time.There were plenty of mussels and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. The oreo cheesecake I had for dessert provided a perfect closing for my wonderful meal. Our waitress Lauren was attentive and very pleasant and Derek's has moved up to the top spot on my list"

"We had made our reservation on Open Table and then we we got there we were told we could only sit at the bar or outside. After expressing that we weren't too interested in either they miraculously found us a table inside. Once we sat down our waiter was slow to come greet us and bring our waters but we chalked it up to the fact that the place was very crowded. Once our food came though, all complaints went out the window. We ordered wings off the restaurant week menu (made with a three olives BBQ sauce) and they were impressive, to say the least. When dinner arrived, BBQ ribs and the pork shoulder we were blown away. The ribs were delicious and the pork shoulder with grits may have been the best thing I've ever tasted!"

"I have been to Derek's twice. The first time was not terrible. My boyfriend and I had a great time eating. It was a bit crowded, but the space is small and it was expected. The second time was terrible. We were there for 2 hours, not of our own free will. My friend and I found Derek's to be the best spot for Manayunk's Restaurant week. The food was great, except for our cold desert that we waited approx 20 minutes for. We also waited almost 30 minutes after we were finished eating just to get any attention to have our leftovers boxed up. On top of that, we were stuck sitting at the bar, not that the bar was terrible, but it was after we had made dinner reservations."

"I eat here often. Usually the food is very good. This visit everything was so salty. We ordered a veggie plate, the grilled eggplant was pure grease, the edamame with rice was tasteless and the salt was overwhelming on the mushrooms. We sent it back. The side salad was served with lettuce that had turned brown and swimming in dressing. It was by far the worst meal we have ever had here."

"We went for brunch on Saturday. Derek's is more than gently used now. The decor needs a refresh. The run down décor (chairs, walls and lighting), slow – but kind wait staff and cold coffee really ruined my fond memories of the place. Don’t sit in the back."

"Im am in love with this place. Tried it with my girlfriends on a Sat night everything was good and fast especially for a Saturday night. The waitress Lauren was great. The place was a little tight but the crowd was so nice it didn't matter. I will look into a group gathering there for my birthday because the rent the 2 nd floor out for private events. ..."

"Food was just ok and we had a waiter who was in the Twilight Zone. He barely mumbled one special and then we overheard the waitress at the next table recite a whole list of specials! The mgr apologized when we told him but it didn't help the zoned out waiter. This restaurant is in my neighborhood so it's convenient but I think it has seen its best days. Decor is a little shabby and food is overpriced for the quality and lack of creativity. But, it has an awesome burger so I will go back for that eventually!"

"Overall, this was a very great place to drink and eat for brunch. However, there was no reason I should have made a reservation because it was so crowded. Luckily for me and my boyfriend we were able to find two seats at the bar, otherwise we would have waited at least 20 minutes for a seat. The food took a long time to get to us - app. about 15 minutes and main dish nearly an hour. The food was really good though, and it wasn't a complete mistake going there."

"Food was good, but service was very slow. We waited over 1/2 hour between 1st & 2nd courses, even though it wasn't that busy at that point. Also, beware the "free parking" advertisement. Although the posted signs list 2 local lots, only one actually participates, and they will only reimburse you if the attendant happens to have change (which she didn't when we were there)."

"I have come to Derek's for lunch and drinks before and loved it. I came recently for dinner and was a little disappointed with the portion size. I ordered a pork belly and there was very little on the plate. Our server was knowledgeable, but spoke about the dinner specials for about five minutes and I did not have a lot of time to catch up with my friends over dinner. Overall, I still love Derek's, but prefer to go there for lunch rather than dinner."

"This was my second time there and the food was great... our waitress not so much... we had to flag her down a couple of times because she hadnt come back to our table to check on us and we needed things... she seemed a lot more concerned with the other tables then us... was very disappointed with the service she gave...."
