French Garden
French Garden Restaurant and Bistro Bar features farm-to-plate dining in both elegant and casual settings. Executive Chef Arturo Guzman creates French-inspired seasonal menus using daily harvested produce, herbs and culinary flowers from French Garden Farm, and the finest local meats, cheeses, and wild-caught fish.
Enjoy beautiful patio dining, a private room for parties and special meetings, elegant dining areas for romantic dinners, as well as receptions, large parties, and weddings. The full bar offers a bistro menu, the finest local wines, beer, and signature drinks using fruits and herbs from our farm. There is also a cosy fireplace and live music with no cover charge.
French Garden Farm, our 30-acre bio-intensive heirloom orchard and garden, is four miles west of the restaurant on Cherry Ridge Road. Take home seasonal harvests from French Garden Farm every Sunday during Brunch at French Garden Restaurant. We look forward to serving you at French Garden.

"we celebrated a birthday and decided to eat in the dining room instead of the bar so that it would be quieter. We had not been there on a Sunday before and it was not busy. the food was really good but the service was very slow. I think they had to cook the duck twice. There was only one other couple in the dining room and they were going to set us right next to them. They moved us when requested without any fuss. It was a good time with good food. Yes, we would go again as it is close and a lovely environment."

"Food was executed well. We chose to eat at the bar/bistro area where a band was playing. The garden area was pretty & also relaxing place for dinner, but for those wanting a more formal atmosphere where it is quieter for nice conversation the dining room is perfect. A good restaurant with 3 distinctly different places to dine."

"I took my wife and her aunt to this restaurant for Mother's Day Brunch this past Sunday. We had a 130pm reservation. We choose an outdoor table as it was a beautiful day! The selection of food was fantastic........the quality excellent. They maintained the quantity of food throughout the day. The service was fast, and most pleasant! We could not have been happier. The price was an outstanding value at $39 per adult. Exceeded expectations!!!"

"I took my sister there for a birthday lunch and we enjoyed a delicious meal of very fresh food. We had the artichoke with aoili, accompanied with micro greens, that was very tasty, just needed a little more sauce with it. Then we shared the fish tacos that were presented on an attractive plate of sauces, shredded cabbage, avocado and lemon, just right for sharing. Our wine selection was a local pinot gris,refreshing for a warm afternoon. We sat under a huge cypress (?) tree that provided a perfect amount of shade and breeze. Service was very attentive...just one little detail in that our waitress mentioned that the kitchen was a great distance away. It was uncertain if she was complaining or excusing herself for the time it took...awkward."

"While to food was very good, the service staff shined. From the hostess to the busstaff, you felt like you were in a friend's home for dinner. Alway smiling and engaging, the staff were well versed on the cuisine and the ingredients.
Truly a pleasurable experience and one that I will be repeating soon."

"The service began very slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty on a Saturday night... The cheese course was well done. The overly ornate and awkward salad seemed to be the cause if the service delay, it lacked dressing. The rest of the meal came in a timely manner and was well prepared. The NY strip was high quality and perfectly prepared. The sides were simple and well executed. Next time I would skip the salad course and focus on the entree and dessert portions of the menu."

"This place is fabulous. Everything we tried was exquisite. One of the best meals I have ever enjoyed. The scallops with bacon was our table's favorite but the mussels (an appetizer of great porportion) was up there too. They carry a "Federalist Dry Creek Zin" that is out of this world. Highly recommended this restaurant.

"This is a wonderful discovery! We remember it as Marty's Top of the Hill....a long ago hot spot for singles! The transformation is amazing...the food was superb! The presentation was beautiful and artful, the produce fresh and aromatic. You can definitely tell the veggies are home grown and handled with respect. The interior is very beautifully done. We came for my daughter's birthday lunch, mid-week, the wait staff was so attentive and warm. The chef came out of the kitchen for a minute and we were able to praise this humble man for this gorgeous food. Definitely worth the little extra drive to be in beautiful Sebastopol for such an amazing dining experience. I only wish they had a more substantial wine list."

"Very good food, though could be more inspired, but I was only there for brunch. Will return for dinner someday very soon. Very good drinks from the bar. If the weather is nice, you must sit out on the patio. Very relaxing even with the highway right in front.
Our server was excellent. Very personable. There was a bit of a problem with front of house/host/hostess duties. No one was there and no one took responsibility for seating us and we had a reservation which was pretty much ignored. That is my only complaint."

"I picked this restaurant to try during Restaurant Week because it looked interesting. The dining area is attractive and the outside patio looked lovely (we ate inside.) It was hard to chose between the starters; I got the soup and my daughter chose the sardine. Both were great. We both had the halibut; the broth was amazing! We had to take some of the chocolate dessert home because it was so rich. I would definitely return, especially for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary.) The servers were attentive and friendly."

"Enjoyed our dinner at French Garden. Salads and soup were delicious. Loved my Asparagus lasagne. Chocolate dessert was yummy. We were there at restaurant week so 4 of the 6 of us had the price fix meal. We liked our server very much, although there were a few mistakes. One of the three drinks were wrong - not the servers fault. In addition, we were charged for 5 price fix meals instead of 4. We caught it before we paid but it just leaves a "bad taste" when this happens."

"Our dinner was extremely well prepared. My pork loin was cooked to perfection. One great thing about the restaurant is its use of local produce. The owner has a large garden plot where all of the vegetables are grown. That means the inclusion of baby carrots, cauliflower, and locally grown herbs on every dish. That definitely increases the quality of the offering."

"Great way fo spend a brunch and lunch time on a weekend morning vit was quiet inside. Roo ckose to the road especially if a truck ir motorcyxle zips by Good menu. Wiuld have liked to see a couple if specials offered and not just one. Sadly, the waiter did not bring the remaining portion of the dessert--which had only one bite 'out' the purpose waa for ys to take it home--we forgot as well due to a few drinks. Prices for coctails runs a little high by Sebastopol standards. Overall we enjoyed the food. Portions miderate cif you are very hungry...this may not ne the place for you. It was a special occasion meal. Overall --happy."

"The French Garden is not the restaurant that it use to be based on our recent experience. It seems as if the chefs change frequently at this restaurant. We waited a very long time for our entrees. It was extremely noisy in the dining area near the bar. The filet mignon was the best entree out of our three orders. Don't believe we will rush back anytime soon."

"In 2012 we had a wonderful lunch here. Sadly, my solo lunch to start 2013 was a full level below that fine memory. Persimmon salad was out of balance: tart dressing overwhelmed the minimal accompaniments of chestnuts, chevre, and fruit. Oregon seabass wasn't as fresh as it could have been, but sides of risotto, vegetables and sauce could have stood on their own as a vegetarian entree they were so good, so the dish did redeem itself. Cappuccino was large but too "wet"; good taste but way too much milkiness. Service here is always excellent; the two waitresses worked smoothly in tandem which made the meal a real pleasure, slight slips in the food notwithstanding. We plan to return on our next visit for dinner."

"I went to the French garden yesterday & the night before 2 very different events. The first night was a presentation on archeology the scholar Marija Gimbutas! The big rooms were full. the meal was served in a timely way even thou there were no empty chairs. The sea bass my companion and I both ordered was perfect. The wine & care all was great. The following evening my husband suggested we go to the bar for a light dinner with 2 employees. He had the perfect hamburger onion soup & apple pie, our employees had the smoked trout salad & fish tacos, they loved it. They shared a flour less chocolate cake which was over the top. I had french onion soup, sautéed greens with walnuts & raisins. If I was asked to go again tonight I would. A+"

"We enjoyed our brunch. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. My portion was on the small side but it the food was good. I like that a lot of the food is organic. Overall, we enjoyed our brunch."
