"This used to be an incredible diamond in the rough. Now I'm afraid it's a faux diamond. Server was very good but you cannot overcome bad food.
Baked garlic and goat cheese appetizer was very good and the food deteriorated from there. Caesar salad was limp and the ny strip special was inedible with a large vein running through the middle. Braised cabbage and polenta accompanying were both throwaways."

"Great service, but both times I have been to The Classic Cafe the appetizers and entrees were served warm like they were sitting out about 10 minutes. I expected more, it seemed that they can't time the cooking to get it to the customer as soon as it is off the grill. The food was good, but for the price paid, the taste was not commensurate.
I had hoped this would be a great local place for superb food, but I guess I am still looking. And you can't pick the other patrons of the restaurant when you are there, but the room acoustics seem to make you a member of everyone elses conversations!"

"Absolutely delightful!! Some in my party had trouble identifying the restaurant..so maybe better signage? It's not called Classic Cafe on the sign outside, just says The Classic along with the names of other places at the same address and it sort of looks like the large blue building is a hotel?? I'm not exactly sure why they couldn't figure it out...but two cars couldn't. So, just an FYI
But, the food was delicious!!! It's an hour away from me...but I imagine I will be back sometime in the future!!"

"We have gone to Classic Cafe many times. The food was excellent on this trip as it has been in the past but the service really missed this time. Our waiter was not present. Our orders were taken by one of the proprietors. It took 15 minutes to get a glass of wine. Longer for our entrees and we were never offered the dessert menu. After our plates and empty glasses were finally cleared from the table, our waiter brought the check. No creme brulee. Very disappointing."

I wish restaurants would QUIT the 4-course Valentine's day/New Year's day - those of us who are smaller simply can't eat all that food! "This family-owned and run restaurant is a very special place. The owners grow their own vegetables and herbs in their own garden on-site and buy locally grown ingredients. The menu changes regularly.
Recently, I hosted a business dinner at the Classic Cafe. My out of town guest was staying close to D/FW Airport and I needed a Mid-Cities location. Quaint downtown Roanoke fit the bill perfectly and this spot stood out as a welcome change from the usual mediocre multiple location offerings. My guest raved about his t-bone pork chop and my rainbow trout was perfectly prepared. The staff was extremely attentive while giving us the right amount of privacy to discuss business.
Try it.....You won't be disappointed."

"My fiance and I was so excited to try out this restaurant because of the raving reviews! It was in a cute little house with an appealing menu. I ordered the grilled meat dish with 3 different meats and was disappointed in how it was cooked. A little bit of dry and not as flavorful for my taste. I would definitely say that the service was great and everyone was very friendly there! We loved the jalapeno apple dessert - that was my favorite part of the meal!"
