Harvest Moon Grille
Located in the Historic Dunhill Hotel, we are proud to call ourselves a Farmhouse Bistro. We might even go so far as to say we are Farmer to Table as Executive Chef and Proprietor, Cassie Parsons, is also the owner of Grateful Growers Farm in Lincoln County. The ingredients we use come from small, independently owned farms within 100 miles of Charlotte. We make exceptions for shrimp & fish (if only the NC coast were closer), spices, flour and olive oil. We make all our breads, pasta and many of our cheeses in-house. All the meats and eggs on our menu come from farms that do not use antibiotics or added hormones. The dining room features an original terrazzo floor, pale gold walls, dark wood and windows facing an attractive view of Tryon Street and offer convenient location for the Blumenthal Theater & all uptown events. Private setting and sophisticated fare of the restaurant provide perfect venue for business lunches or specialty dinners.

"I have eaten breakfast and lunch numerous times at Harvest Moon, but this was my first time eating dinner there. My friends and I were celebrating two birthdays, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals and time at the restaurant. The service was perfect - attentive, but not intrusive. We will certainly go back there again!"

"I took a new friend of mine here, with short notice that she was Vegan. I was pleasantly surprised that the chef came out to personally check on her meal, which was made special as there weren't any Vegan options on the menu. The chef was quite friendly and this impressed me. This restaurant really embodies the close to farm, personal feel.
My entree was excellently prepared and very tasty. I am quite grateful for restaurants like this.
My only complaint is that there was no back ground music, which I find can add significantly to the ambiance of a place. Seating was a little close quarters, which you just have to deal with and some might not object too."

"Farm-fresh ingredients and ingenious pairings make this place a great stop for brunch or lunch. I especially loved the pork sausage and scones. The ambience in the historic Dunhill Hotel is terrific. Greater attention to gluten-free menu items would be better, but celiacs can eat confidently at the Harvest Moon."

"I had high hope for the meal; had heard great things and had even been told by my dining companion that she had had one of her best meals ever at HMG. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case when we dined. The "sausage" on the charcuterie plate was bland (tasted like plain ground pork), as were a couple of the cheeses on the cheese plate (can't recall which ones, as our server didn't seem too sure when he set it down), as was the local seasonal salad. The pork belly was delicious, but I would sum up my overall dining experience as bland."

"If you like fresh food, food that tastes like food, go here. Most items were raised / grown within 100 miles, and you can tell the difference. The pork, raised by the chef, is not pork from the store, or even your butcher. This is the way food tasted in the 1800's! Amazing stuff! Eat here!"

"My husband and I visited from out of state and only eat all-natural foods. We read restaurant reviews for the city and were pleased to find Harvest Moon Grille!! From start to finish, our experience could not have been better. We were able to go online when we got into Charlotte and easily make our reservation. Our table was ready and waiting when we arrived and our server was phenomenal. Each course of our meal was top notch and well worth the money. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough---a must do if in Charlotte!"

"Harvest Moon Grille has a particular reverance for pork, as evidenced recent by the RibWich sandwich. Slow cooked boneless port with a lovely smokiness, topped with slaw on a house-made roll. "I would like to see more emphasis placed on the 'organic' food aspect of the menu and which should include more entrees for those of us who lean towards a vegan lifestyle. While it doesn't totally offend me to see pork all over the menu, (given that the owner is a pig farmer as we were told several times), I'm sure most people would prefer more variety such as a well rounded healthful menu including more fresh fish and vegetable dishes. The butternut squash soup, rolls, fresh butter and roasted carrots were delicious - as was my trout and the very small portion of baby kale saute. I could have done without the 'vegetable chips' that were tasteless and seemed better suited towards lunch. At $24.00 for an entree - not cool."

"Food was delicious and nutritious. The farm to table concept was exactly what we were looking for as we met to discuss Mind-Body Medicine while attending the wedding of a friend. The hotel/restaurant combination really worked for us as we were able to minimize time spent looking for food and maximize meeting time. Others attending the wedding commented on the restaurant being a great experience even though they weren't aware of the wholesome aspect of the food!
Service on Saturday Morning was very slow but the food was fantastic. The service on Friday night was exceptional, complementing the food & atmosphere. I would enthusiastically recommend Harvest Moon to friends and family visiting Charlotte."

"My first dining experience at Harvest Moon was excellent. This Sunday brunch, however, was a bit disappointing. Even having made a reservation, my party and I still had to wait for a table. My server forgot to bring out my order, and graciously comped my bloody mary. The food itself was a bit bland. All around, not the best experience, but I'm hoping it was just a fluke. "I love that Harvest Moon Grille serves locally grown food! The menu was creative, and the food was excellent. Service was also excellent. The only negative is the ambiance, probably due to the fact that it is a "hotel" restaurant. The other patrons were dressed VERY casually. I'm talking baggy blue jeans! Lighting was bright. They kept the traditional granite composite floor, which I always think looks grimy, but I can understood why they did it. Apparently the hotel is a historic building. Other than the appearance of the space and the other diners, everything was great!"

"Perfect location in the heart of Uptown Charlotte at Trade and Tryon in the bottom of one of the oldest buildings in the area. Simple decor. Staff was all very accommodating...even the chef was seen walking around and interacted with our table. Unique but local food with an ecclectic flare."

"We arrived a couple of minutes late but were seated immediately at a cozy table for 4.
The atmosphere was perfect, the service friendly and attentive (but not overly so) and the food-oh the food-we each claimed to have ordered the best item on the menu and set out to prove we had indeed done that! Everything was delicious and the presentation lovely and creative...too bad we couldn't stay for dessert but we had tickets to a concert a few easy blocks away. Pricey when you add it all up but worth it for a special occasion!"

"My fiance and I went to Harvest Moon Grille for a date night. The food was spectacular. He got a shrimp and risotto dish that the server recommended, and I got the Pork Shankin. Both were wonderful (though I think we both agreed that his was better than mine). I love how quiet and intimate the restaurant is. Definitely a wonderful place for a romantic dinner!"

"I am in love with Harvest Moon Grille. I have had many meals there and I am always thrilled. Be able to eat such delicious food and I know it is so pure with all of the food being served has been grown by local farmers with organic practices. Everything is grown or raised or caught within 100 miles of Charlotte. The menu constantly changes because of what is available and seasonal. When we were there in March we were able to have the first tomatoes of the season!!"

"I travel to Charlotte several times a year and mix business trips in with pleasure. I had wanted to dine at Harvest Moon for some time and got the opportunity to this past Friday. The food was very good and met all the expectations promised. I thought the potion was a little small but after adding on desert that wasn't an issue. Noise seemed to be a factor. In fact, we moved out to the bar area to have desert and coffee because several groups moved in to the restaurant space and talking to each other was nearly impossible."

"As much as I would love to give Harvest Moon Grille a rave review, I can only give it an average review. I love farm-to-table; however, this wasn't one of my better experiences. My husband and I arrived at 11a. We were the only patrons, which on a weekday wasn't too surprising. I ordered the breakfast of two eggs, sausage, home fries and toast. There was virtually no seasoning on the food which made it taste quite bland. I was surprised. I believe everything was fresh and made from scratch, just no flavor. In addition, I was told that they don't serve ketchup only later to find out they hope to make their own but were waiting for tomatoes to come in season. Perhaps this was just an "off" day."
