"They keep the ambience going from entrance to exit. Wonderful service, prompt and the wait staff never wrote anything down that I saw, yet were perfectly on task! I thought the food art would be more impressive and interactive but it wasn't. Still wonderful food and fun. Look closely for the entrance you could miss it from the street. Try the rock roll ny, freaking awesome!!!!! I even ordered one to go for back at the hotel!"

"Everything from start to finish was fabulous. Hostess was accomodating and very friendly. Staff was fantastic. Our server, Johnathan, was amazing. Very outgoing, playful and attentive to the table's needs. Would definitely go again."

"This was a fabulous choice - it was different but still most enjoyable. The ninja wait staff was great (not cheesy) and we had a most enjoyable time. our server, Jonathan, was great. It may be a little pricey for some, but it was worth every penny. I highly recommend - the food is also delicious. Outstanding restaurant!"

"The good:
Setup of the restaraunt was outstanding,
the village setup was amazing and there
was a great ambiance.

The bad:
The ninjas are anything but, they do the best
they can to sneak up and shout to startle you
cute the first time or two, but very tedious by
the end of the night. How about getting the
food onto the table or maybe clearing the table
without being seen?

The food:
Food was decent, a cut above the rest however
dissapointing that the signature dish of the
restaraunt was sold out."

"We went to Ninja for the theatrical experience, which was delightful. What we didn't expect was the high quality of the food! The vegetarian menu (for me) rivaled the regular menu (for my boys). The food was imaginative, gorgeous, delicious, and served with artistry.

"We finished our Friday in Manhattan with dinner at Ninja, downtown. We made the effort to go downtown for a fun dining experience with my two sons, ages 10 and 19. The food was good, with some cool special effects, and the atmosphere was themed and fun. The staff were very pleasant and upbeat. If you go, make sure that you order some of the items that include the effects."

"You go here for a 'dining experience', not a dinner. Don't try and have deep and meaningfuls or a romantic time here as you'll get cut off by a semi-stealthy plastic sword mid-sentence more often than not. The staff are enthusiastic, the design is fantastic and gives each table a lot of privacy, but I'm not totally convinced the theme works. The food was good, not great. Good for one-off occasions or visitors in town but not a regular favorite spot for sure."

"Dining at Ninja was the most fun I have ever had eating out at a restaurant. The staff was fun, energetic, and highly entertaining. They made my husband and I feel like we were in an old Japanese village, at night,and full of ninjas. It was fantastic! The food was pricey but absolutely delicious. And the best part of the food was that many of the dishes came with a presentation like one would come out on fire or burst into flames,and another would come with dry ice. WORTH EVERY PENNY. My husband and I cannot wait to go back again. The waiters Robert and Toby were fantastic. Our evening did not have a dull moment because of them. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!"

"We took our 12-year-old daughter to Ninja for her birthday and it was just perfect -- a fun theme, but sufficiently grown-up so she didn't feel patronized. The "Ninjas" on staff is fantastic. The food is expensive but nice; they have an interesting menu so you don't feel like your at an amusement park. Not to the place to go for a gourmet experience but everything is well-prepared and again, the staff is amazing, they really make it special. We loved being in our own private hut, as well. It was a lot of fun."

"The food was very good. I had the Hanzou five course dinner and although the price is high, I think the quality and quantity make it worth it. I really enjoyed the sushi and fish dishes while the steak and accompanying sauces were well prepared.

The atmosphere is very unique, with every staff member dressed as a ninja and acting the part. Each table seems to be private and enclosed in areas designed to look like parts of a ninja village. Some dishes are considered "ninja art" dishes and come with a little show such as pulling a sword out of the plate, the waiter setting it on fire, or smoke boiling out everywhere.

For me, all this adds up to make for a fun change of pace."

"What a place!! You almost don't feel like your in NYC once you enter the ninja village. The presentation of the food is amazing, as well as the food itself. The Sparking Sake (Sawa Sawa) was an excellent choice to go with dinner and a fair price for a bottle. The atmosphere was unlike most places I have been to with similar cusine choices. Overall one of the best places I have been to in NYC. Be sure to reserve weeks in advance for space fills up quickly."

"We have visited the Ninja for the first time and it was amazing! I loved every minute of the whole experience!
The design of the restaurant is awesome and the atmosphere is great! We were seated in a little private room with sliding doors and there was really nice japanese music playing. All the waiters were dressed as Ninjas and really friendly. The food was amazing!! Eventhough the menues are rather expensive I do recommend ordering one! There was sooo much food and most of it good! The only thing I did not like was the braied beef which somehow did not tie in with the rest of the menue. The rest however was superb! I don`t have enough characters to describe all the cool things you can expect at the Ninja so go and find out for yourself"

"Was an overall good time and the food was pretty good. The entertainment was also very fun and interesting. Everyone was very friendly and nice however the service was very very very slow. Our reservation was for 3 people @ 9pm. We arrived at 8:50. At 9 we were brought to a bar to sit for 20 min which was fine however it was 10 min before we were served any drinks etc. After we were sat down for dinner the entire dinner process was about 2.5 hours. There were many gaps of no one tneding to us."

"Ninja was great all of the staff was friendly and funny. food was great. only few issues the staff seemed a bit too busy at times there were running around crazy sometimes we couldn't get there attention but they all were very helpful. We loved our experience and greatly appreciated the waiter(sorry forgot his name) that we had he did a very good all nite long and even made a special treat for my girlfriends bday by having the whole rock garden section sing to her Happy Birthday on 4/5/10."

"I loved this place. I truly had a great time. All of the Ninjas were pleasant and very delightful.

Our server Jerry, was very professional, and his service was great. The one dish, I had the creamy shrimp was delicious. They made my entire party feel great.

The food was great, as well. The menu was not overpriced. I wish they would have had better drinks, but I would recommend this place to friends.

The owner even thanked us for coming. Customer service goes a long way.

"Being a native New Yorker I was a little skeptical about going to Ninja as I was expecting a Tourist Trap restaurant. Boy was I surprised, we had alot of fun and love the interaction. I won't give away too much info but I would definitely recommend this place for a group of people! The food was also delicious and filling...we ordered the Hanzou course menu which is $88 but is enough for 2 people plus we ordered an extra appetizer and could barely finish all of it. The drinks at $12 are delicious and pack a punch!! Overall, fun experience."

"The atmosphere was really great but the ninja's didnt do anything. They walked around and were all white, none of asian decent. Maybe a few but they werent doing anything. I really expected more out of the place. I had also called in advance to tell them that It was a birthday and they forgot!!! I had to get up and tell them to remind them and they brought a piece of chocolate 1"X1" with about 5 pieces of little fruit...Id probably never go back. The food was good and each table was in a little room for privacy which I did like. So if your looking to spend a romantic night, not a bad place to go."

"Awesome restaurant and very unique. The food was surprisingly good for a "theme restaurant" and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere is cool and each table is separated from the others by walls and/or a screen so it feels rather private. They try to scare you at times throughout your dining experience beginning as soon as you walk in but that's half the fun. If you purchase one of the "packages" the price, though still not cheap, it not too bad. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back again in the future."

"The restaurant is very unique. The entire restaurant is decorated and centered around 1 theme - ninja. It's extremely creative, in terms of the decor, as well as the presentation of some of their signature dishes. I rate the presentation and the artistic design of some of the dishes, as well as the decor 5 starts. However, the food is mediore. I had the 22oz Rib eye steak. I've had steaks at many restaurants and was definitely not impressed. The sushi and sashimi were not as fresh and smooth as other Japanese restaurants.

I would still highly recommend this place. It's definitely worth your one visit. and Yes I would go back there again, not for the food, but for the decor and the presentation of the food."

"Not only was the food spectacular the whole experience was fun and enjoyable. It is a little pricey but totally worth it. It had a wide selection of traditional Japanese dishes and was very accommodating to special requests. Certain dishes, typically the more expensive ones, had a personal act that went along with and it was really cool to watch. It also had good price options for how much you want to pay for how much food entertainment for example for 88 dollars per person you can have the full experience around 5 courses of specially prepared food or you can pay 38 dollars for one special dish and 2 ordinary (though still tasty) dishes. The waiter we had really made the experience personal and we shared a lot of laughs"

"I have lived in Japan for 8 years and I have never found a Japanese resturaunt in the USA that could compare until I found NINJA. The atmosphere was incrediable the food was fantastic and the service is something you would have to experience for yourself. I took my wife there for a special dinner for our anniversary. When dessert arrived we were suprised to see happy anniversary written into the chocalate candy. Will definately go back and highly recommend.

"Although the price of the foods doesn't matter to me, what matters is that the quality of food should be good if the prices are gonna be expensive and your paying almost $100 bucks per person. The food was poor as well as small proportioned and it was very disappointing in my experience there. Although I would say that this restaurant definitely has a "fun" atmosphere with a wonderful theme,its not a place I would come back to again. Its a good place for birthdays and special occasions and the service was fair. I thought I was going to see more shows from the hype I read about but it was okay. "I surprised my husband here for his birthday (because I know he secretly wishes he was born a ninja)and he loooved it. I don't want to give any of the surprises away but this is really a great place to take your loved one or even a group of friends. The food is delicious and is served with the ninja theme in mind. "If you've never been to Ninja you should go... immediately. We went expecting the experience to be great, but also expecting the food to be mediocre as it often is at themed restaurants. "It was everything I expected it to be. I researched the place and all the reviews were correct. Its a great place to have a fun night out at a themed restaurant. My ninja wasn't japanese but I was ok with that. It's understandable, being in New York. He's performance as a Ninja was great and that is really what we came to see. I expected a whole skit of shows through out the experience which wasn't what happened. If you want to see some Ninja action you have to be willing to foot the bill for it. You buy the dish with the Ninja Star next to it, you get another performance with the dish. Those dishes aren't cheap but like the Ninja waiter said "After all you came here for the Ninja experience, you should choose the Ninja dishes"."

"The signature dish, Katana, was a tiny amount of out-of-this-world beef and a large amount of passable potato under piles of real crab mixed with suremi(cod made to look like crab), under a cheese topping. The caesar salad had a large creative piece of fried cheese over a nothing salad. Desserts were huge on presentation but less so on taste. The teriaki chicken was perfect in every way. The atmosphere was fun and the "show" makes it a trip worth taking. If we weren't so tightly crammed into a tiny room I'd have rated it higher but the tight quarters made it less fun than it usually is."

"I had read several outstanding customer reviews of Ninja and I have to say the hype was well placed. Everything about the restaurant was amazing and the food was absolutely worth every cent I spent. (And since I spend about $80 for my meal that's saying something!) The staff was friendly, fun going, and knowledgeable about everything that came out of the kitchen. Some children at the table next to me spilled water on the floor and the wait staff was right on top of cleaning it and warning other guests about the wet floor. I will come back the next time I am in the city and plan to recommend it to all of my friends who live in and around NYC!

The only drawback is the waiting area is small, so ABSOLUTELY make a reservation ahead of time!"

"The experience was great. Just what I expected. The staff really seemed to enjoy the theater of their performances. The food was not outstanding. My 13 year old daughter was quite happy with it though! I had a 5:15 reservation to make it easy to make an 8:00 Broadway show. When we showed up, the taxi drove around the block twice trying to find the place because the #25 address is not on the door that says Ninja and there were no lights on. Luckily, a waitress was entering as we got there and let us in at 5:25. We were not seated until about 5:45. This delay was a bit of a negative."

"We went to Ninja for my son's 13th birthday celebration dinner after seeing the restaurant on the Travel channel a few months ago. We were all looking forward to our evening there and we were not disappointed. Out of everything, I was most impressed by the employees. They were one of the most attentive, entertaining, and enthusiastic staffs that I have encountered. All the food that we ordered was great, especially the rib eye steak and jalapeno star roll. "We were a party of 4 people and we had a great experience. The first step was to take the elevator down the restaurant and we were guided by some ninjas to a waiting area. After a few minutes, we got our room ready (very Japanese atmosphere) and we ordered. We had the Hibachi ($88 per couple) with a choice of two first courses and two third courses as the seccond and fourth course were just one. Of course, there were a few desserts to share after the four dishes.
The Hibachi had spectacle with it and I'm not gonna tell as you have to experience that.
Our waiter was splendid and the magician that came to entertain you, also great.
Higly recommended if you wanna have a great night out."

"This was a very expensive meal that I absolutely loved, and would tell everyone I know to visit.once

Every dish was absolutely beautiful! the use of dry ice and fire was fun and very creative. The staff was very fun and friendly. The decor was absolutely stunning! The service was epic

unfortunately, I would not return. The food was average at best, it seems they spent all their creativity on the look of the food and not the actual taste. The price was ridiculous for the quality of food.

The magic show after dinner was unprofessional. If I am spending over $100 for dinner(and wine) I don't want somebody at my table asking for more money.

This was an amazing and entertaining event, with average food.

"Everything was ok until my dessert came with a piece of broken glass in it. The only concession they made was to give me a 20$ gift certificate. They sent out someone who decided not to be able to speak English and he just shook his head when I told him that they needed to throw out the entire batch of chocolate mousse. I should have asked for 4 t-shirts for us instead. Mind you I only had a very slight cut on the inside of my lip and my bill for 4 came to only 315$ which I paid in full and gave the excellent waitor a 65$ tip.

I'll be very honest here and just say that I think that the intrigue of this restaurant has worn off and they just don't give the same effort that they did four years ago when they first opened"

"When you enter the front door you know you are in for something very different and from the time you sit to the time you leave it doesn’t disappoint. I don’t want to spoil any of the opening surprises but the showmanship of the wait staff was fantastic. There are large dining areas as well as private tables for two which are like private booths/rooms.

The dining and drinks are fantastic. There are several ways to dine, you can pick one of the course style meals for a flat price or choose your own entree. They also have a vegetarian menu. The presentation of the food was wonderful and the special “Ninja Art” dishes were fun to see.

For a nice date night or to celebrate a special occasion this is a must!"

"We had a wonderful time here for my husbands birthday. It would have been much better with a group, I think attention is paid more to a group. Our food was very good! The only major complains is the magician that came around to the table. Its not like he was doing Ninja tricks or anything like that. Plus, I thought that for a menu that is as expensive and class as Ninja was, its was kind of ridiculous to have someone come around with the intentions of getting a tip. The person across us said "well, I only have a large bill." And the magician said "well, I can easily break that." I did not think this was classy at all.
We would come back with a large group as long as the magician isnt there soliciting tips....."

"Ninja New York was outstanding. The food was awesome, every dish got better and better. Although very pricey, the meals were worth every penny, especially dessert. It was nice to see the magic show at the end, the magician Eddie was awesome. I still don't know how he was able to make two balls appear in my closed fist...I tipped him very well because he is a genious.

"Ninja has a really fantastic idea, I certainly give it to them for thinking up such a cool idea of having Ninja wait staff. Loved it. And of course so did my 11 year old and even my 17 year old. Thanks for the great experience."

"This place was a lot of fun and entertaining for all who dined. Very unique and one of those places that you want to tell others about. The food was outstanding, and they put a special spin on how it is served and presented. You should not be leaving hungry. You can not be too shy, here and have a willingness to play along. Bring a group of four or more, and it will be a great time."

"Your significant other will be very impressed if you take them here on a whim or for spevial event!!! They did the birthday right... TIP: put info in the comments section if it is your friends birthday with their name and they will put their name on a piece of chocolate in their desert. Cocktails were very well flavored but on the small side. Service was very attentive for a Wednesday evening (restaurant was half full)Toby was our servers name. Got one of the prix fix courses - priciest one... with all ninja art dishes. Fantastic presentations on dishes! It was a great show."

"I enjoyed my experience although I should have been more prepared for the "entertainment" part of the experience. I don't always deal well with people jumping out of nowhere and scaring me. At first it reminded me of a haunted house, which is something I personally rather avoid. I am not good with scary or horror but like i said I should have read up on this place a little more to be prepared for that. Other than the the experience was wonderful. Waiters energetic and entertaining and food presentation was phenominal and it tasted great! The alcoholic mixed drinks were great as well. A good list of fruity drinks which I love!"

"Spent the entirety of our 5 course Japanese meal getting ninja'd by our ninja waitress and ninja hosts. Was a ridiculously fun time. The food was ok - definitely not as good as another restaurant would serve for the same price. Overall I would highly recommend the experience to any of my friends."

"The servers were entertaining and really went out of their way to make it a cool experience. Even the hostess at the door was really really nice. Drawbacks were the menu options and the quality of the food. We were disappointed with the appetizer options, so we got a maki roll instead to share as an appetizer. My husband got the short rib which was a good portion but really really fatty so you couldn't eat most of it. I got the ginger pork, which was so dry that I had to drown the bites in the sauce they provided on the side. The dessert portion which had a nice presentation was tiny!! It was a ridiculously small portion - maybe four good bites? Once you see the place, the menu will definitely not bring you back."
