With a name that translates from the Italian as "little grandmother", this dining spot offers the authentic cooking of Italy in an elegant ambience. Owner Paul Aniboli collaborated with managing partner Robert DiPierro and executive chef Richard Soriano on a new journey in traditional Italian cuisine with a trendy fine-dining atmosphere. Diners will be immediately impressed upon entering this chic, upscale yet comfortable establishment. Vintage Italian poster art can be found decorating the walls in all areas of the restaurant. The bistro/bar area is very inviting, lined with intimate tables, beige suede chairs and plush leather couches warmed by a fireplace and exposed brick. Rated 3 stars by Newsday's Peter Gianotti, Nonnina provides exceptional Italian cuisine and professional service.
"The food at Nonnina is always first-rate. I am not a fan of the average Italian restaurant, serving pasta dishes with far too much sauce and cheese. The chef here has a deft hand with pastas as well as meat and fish dishes. Everything is made to order, and it shows."

"we are Francophiles, love the Lakehouse, but had no choice other than Noninna's recently . Glad we did because it was such an improvement from the first two times we ate there several years ago. The cold seafood salad was wonderful and the wild duck a real pleasant surprise. Highly recommended."

"Ordered 3 different appetizers to split and each one was more delicious than the next. Entrees were exceptional. Service was attentive and knowledgable. We were pleased with every aspect of our dining experience. Definitely reccommend."

"Went there for dinner with a night out with my girlfriends that I had not seen in a long time. Had drinks at the bar first and the bartenders were very pleasant and polite. The food, ambiance and décor were excellent. The waiter who served us seemed to be a bit snooty but I don't know if that was his attitude or if he was trying to be funny. I'm very easy going so I did not take much offense to it but my 2 girlfriends were definitely rubbed the wrong way and did not particularly care for this waiter (I do not know what his name was). Other than that, I really enjoyed the restaurant and look forward to going back for a nice date night with my husband."

"We had another good meal....great salads , excellent veal meat balls, shrimp and chicken Parmesan. I think the chicken Parmesan should come with a side; most entrees do. Instead, we had to pay $9- for a side of spinach which makes a chicken dinner pricey. We had a good Chianti Riserva."

"The food certainly out-performed the service. I was disappointed in the service. No one really paid attention to our table of 7. Water glasses weren't filled, had to ask. Forgot second drink order, never came. Food was dropped on the table and no one ever came by to see if everything was okay. Waited too long for dessert so we cancelled it and just asked for the check. What a shame, even though the food was excellent, service means a lot to me."

"We had a great experience. The food was amazing (and we are foodies). Everything we had was incredible and beyond our expectations. The service was great too. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it, especially for a special occasion."

"I had heard many great things about this place and hadn't yet had a chance to check it out, until my wife's birthday. They had valet parking which was nice, and probably necessary on a busy night with their tiny parking lot. Walking in, the atmosphere was relaxed, romantic, and very classy. My wife and I were very surprised at how everything was so well put together, considering it was somewhat unassuming from the outside.
The service was excellent, everybody was more than helpful and gracious.
We ordered the Grilled Octopus and Ragout appetizers, which were excellent, the octopus was nicely charred on the outside with just the most amazing, tender texture, definitely the best octopus dish I have ever had. Seasoned with lemon, dill an"

"It was our anniversary and it was a lovely place for a "romantic" dinner after 42 years of marriage. We had a lovely time and the waiter service was terrific."

"A very Nice to Excellent restaurant in Long Island. The Menu offers many choices and we had were excellent including 6 first courses and 6 main courses. The deserts also did not disappoint! Prices were reasonable even for the Specials which were excellent. Only slight complaint - Wine prices were quite high for this and any other restaurant. We paid $65 for a Pinot Noir that retails for less than $20!! A bit high and would let us think twice about going back!"

"This was our first time at Nonnina's. The bar was busy and crowded, but expected for a Friday night. I thought we would have to wait to be seated, but we were seated promptly. The staff was attentive and the food was very good, although there could have been more entree choices. The veal meatballs parmegiana and calamari appetizers were delicious. My husband had the shrimp oreganato entree which he loved. My chicken parmegiana wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be, but delicious anyway (nice and moist with a large order of spaghetti accommpanying it). Aside from it being a little noisy (almost all the tables had groups), we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambiance of the restaurant. We will definitely return for another meal!"

"We had an eight o'clock reservation but, were not seated until after 9PM. Hostess told us, several times, that earlier guests had not left the table. Finally after repeated requests by our party we were led upstirs to a table directly above the bar. Upper level was extremely noisy so that conversation was impossible. Food is commendable but, with so may good and fabulous Italian restaurants on Long Island I will leave this one out."

"For the price of the food I feel it could have been a lot tastier. One dish out of three was decent. Wine wasn't chilled. Felt a little rushed. Mistake on bill and after addressing it, it was still charged. I have had much better food for less of the cost. I will not return, but enjoyed my experience there."

"Went to Nonnina on Valentine's night. Waited until 9:40 for 9pm reservation but that's to be expected on a busy night. Otherwise have no complaints. Got out of there for $160+tip for one app two special entrees and an a la carte order of Mac n cheese plus a bottle of wine which felt like a steal. Food was great. Wine list was very extensive and had I been there with friends and not some random girl I would have explored it more. Overall, it was a nice experience. Perhaps a little loud if you're looking for that ultra-intimate ambiance. The place "worked" for me so I will be back."
