"From the title, you know what to expect...the atmosphere is paramount, the service excellent, the courses came out timely and never felt rushed. We had an assortment of appetizers and entrees...Calamari (must have been a skinny Squid!) and Steamed Mussells (excellent and plentiful) Fish Stew, House Salads, and Numerous Shrimp and Grits, Hickory BBQ Salmon and Crab Cakes (they can claim NO bragging rights with this dish, nothing spectacular about the crab cakes nor the red rice!)"

"When we arrived we were greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter was friendly. Location had a nice view. The problem, the food. I had the fried seafood platter and the seafood tasted as if it had not been cleaned properly, the red rice was very dry. One of my dinner companions had the paella, it was ok but nothing special and their was no flavors brought out, it was not a cohesive bowl. My other companion had the grouper. The sauce was OK but have definitely had better tasting at other Charleston restaurants and the portion of fish and potatoes was small for the $$. The food lacked quality for the price charged. I am use to eating and medium to high $$$$ places and the food here was not worth a second visit. Location great, food lacking!!"

"I like to bring first time visitors here for the great view, dolphin watching from your table, ambience. Service and food are great. Very consistent. Food is fresh and well prepared. Has prime rib for the non-seafood lovers which is rare in this area. Overall great experience."

"Water's Edge is a lovely place for a nice dinner. Great food and view. But keep in mind a party larger than 4 and the quality of the food declines slightly due to trying to get all the dishes out at the same time. I had the swordfish special and although the plate was piping hot the actual food was cold."

"The view was amazing. We had a window seat inside and were entertained most of our dinner by the jumping dolphins in the creek. We enjoyed watching the beautiful boats go by as well. Our service was fabulous and the variety of menu choices suited everyone in our party."

"We eat out a lot and had never been to Water's Edge during our visits to the area so we decided to try it out when it came up on Open Table. We were very glad we went. Our server, Daniel, was wonderful, informed and friendly. The food was above average and I can't wait to go again. Looking out at the boats coming and going on Shem Creek while dining just put the cherry on top.

"This visit did not live up to past experiences. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and made reservations well in advance. We were neither seated in a timely manner, nor in the requested location. The place was loud and almost out of control. The server was pleasant enough, but the food did not live up to expectations. My wife's seafood was of poor quality and she said it did not taste fresh. My "Downtown Country Fried Steak" was tough like shoe leather. We have eaten here many times but won't be back."

"It was prom night in the area so their were lots of teens in their finery, and tons of noise. Food was rather good but it was a bit pricey. Our server was very good and did his best to serve couples and small table while juggling the huge tables of kids. ad we known they would be there on their way to the prom, we might have opted for a later reservation. Parking was a nightmare."

"The specials are quite good. However, stay away from the "seafood" platter. My companion got the platter. I asked what "fish" referred to on the menu and was horrified to hear "tilapia." That is a freshwater trash fish. Any "seafood" restaurant serving tilapia is suspect to say the least."

"We had a wonderful lunch. Our party started out as 6 but my brothers surprised us and joined us as we were being seated. The hostess was not happy about moving us to a larger table but our waiter was great and accomodating. The restaurant wasn't very crowded so we didn 't think the hostess should have been upset but she was. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Beautiful view and restaurant I had a ceasar salad which was good and a shrimp cocktail that was excellent. My husband had fish stew that was excellent. Crabcake was excellent. Club sandwich and chicken pasta with veggies were good. Key lime pie and pecan pie were excellent. We love this restaurant and will definitely be back."

"My wife and I shared a bowl of shrimp bisque that was a little bland ... I ordered the pecan crusted grouper and the crust was over cooked and hard with an overpowering balsamic ... My wife ordered the fried oysters and shrimp and they were very good ... I had the house chard (2) and was charged $9 for each glass and it was not even good wine ... After the tip our bill was $110 ... That's ridiculous ..."

"The grouper I ordered was delicious and my friend said her salmon was great too. The ambiance of the restaurant is great but only if you aren't seated at an awkward table in the middle of the room, which we were. You really couldn't appreciate the view, which is the whole point of going there. Still, the food was good and the server was attentive."

"My family went for my birthday. The food was wonderful. View of Shem Creek was very nice. I am very glad we made an early reservation. When we arrived at 5:45 the parking lot was full because of Happy Hour I assume. We found a spot out of four left in the back of the lot. So being early worked out great. When we left people were jockeying for parking spaces. We had a man follow us from the entrance to the back of the lot trying to beat others for our space. I am Happy we didn't wait later to go. This was my first time at Shem Creek and Water's edge and it won't be the last. Even though the price is around 17-37 $ unless you have the 10$ Cheeseburger you get lots of food for the price. Again we will definately go again."

"We were staying at Wild Dunes and booked Valentine's Day dinner at Water's Edge. Restaurant was full, but we were seated right away at a great window table with a nice view of Shem Creek. The service was very good and the food mostly well prepared and tasty. My wife had the crab soup and grouper which she found excellent and I had the spinach salad followed by the filet and scallops combo. The salad and filet were excellent, but the blackened scallops were small and not pan-seared. I would avoid the scallops, but the rest of the food was excellent. We have eaten there several times before and will definitely return."
