South City Kitchen Vinings
With elements of South City Kitchen Midtown and some features unique to this location, South City Kitchen Vinings brings a combination of energy and comfortable metropolitan sophistication to a new neighborhood. Traditional, fresh ingredients prepared in an open exhibition kitchen are used to create our version of contemporary Southern cuisine. The restaurant features an oversized bar with communal tables and cozy booths as well as a dining room lined with French doors that open to a spacious outdoor patio. This is the perfect spot for families and friends to enjoy dinner, Sunday brunch or a quick bite at the bar.

"We've been living in Vinings for a while now. I don't know how many times we've driven past South City Kitchen. Recently, we had an occasion to dine at the Midtown location and it was great! For Father's Day we decided to give the Vinings location a try. How could we have missed this gem! All this time... We will be returning to South City Kitchen again and again. Loved it!"

"Get to South City Kitchen a little early, as it is nestled in a cute little plaza surrounded by boutique shopping that you won't want to miss. When seated, be sure to get a Low country iced tea, a sweet, refreshing cocktail that tastes a little too much like a non-alcoholic sweet tea! The gouda fritters are excellent and melt in your mouth, and don't miss the fried green tomatoes that they are known for! You can't go wrong with the fried chicken or the shrimp and grits. Be sure to save room for dessert, it's usually a seasonal item, but if you can get the chocolate pecan pie, don't skip it!"

"Last minute reservation. Hostess and wait staff were excellent. Food was OK. Appetizer of pan fried chicken livers slightly over-cooked with slight burnt taste. Beef Brisket Benedict entrée would have been fantastic if the poached eggs had been cooked properly- the yolks on mine were like a hard-boiled egg. Desserts were great. Will try it again."

"The brunch was good except for the very slow service. After we ordered, the appetizers came out fairly quick, but the time between the apps and the entrees was way too long, at least 30 minutes. Also, I ran out of tea in my glass and asked for more but was never brought any and had nothing to drink during dessert. When we left, I still had no refill on my tea. Also, it would have been nice to have a beef/steak choice on the menu especially for Father's Day."

"I like to take out of town visitors to South City Kitchen. It provides a good taste of southern cuisine but with a twist - more interesting than other restaurants that offer southern cooking. Took a group of five for Sunday brunch. Two of my guests had the chicken and waffles. They both commented on how good the fried chicken tasted. I had the vegetable plate - loved the flavors of the roasted corn and tomatoes as well as the perfectly grilled asparagus. The staff was friendly but not intrusive."

"I must say, this was my 6th experience with SCK Vinings in the past couple years and if it wasn't for our waitress, the evening would have been shot. The food was just "OK". Everything lacked intense flavor and the drinks were weak. Our waitress, was friendly, super attentive and humorous."

"SCK - Vinings is a consistent performer. Most of their items are good, not spectacular; comfort food with a flare or twist. The biggest negative is that their prices are about 15-25% above the norm, IMHO. The portion sizes are slightly below average, although there is no overall pattern. Not a place I would recommend if you are planning on a huge meal or a huge celebration. I have hosted 2 "dinner parties" there and both times felt over-charged and still hungry - ouch. But very nice for a quiet Tuesday evening meal with a few friends."

"South City Kitchen is one of my favs and a regular dining spot. We visited for Mother's Day dinner. I felt it was a little overpriced; $100+ for two people (no wine/alcohol). The food was very good, however we ordered our peach cobbler dessert 'to go' and it was packed WITH the ice cream. By the time we got home and opened it the cobbler was in a pool of melted ice cream and soggy. I threw mine away without even getting a bite. I didn't think I needed to ask for the ice cream to be packaged separately...lesson learned."

"We sat down to a friendly energetic greeting in a restaurant full of husule & bustle. The Gouda fritters were a nice start, but the pulled pork was dryed out . We had ordered a very nice bottle of wine, which our waiter upon cleaning off the appetizers spilled an entire glass all over the table and myself. He apologized, but did not offer to replace it in any way. This left us with a bad sense of how this restaurant takes care of their customers, and not much wine left for the rest of dinner. The main course was the famous fried chicken. A boneless chicken breast with a nice crispy crust. There were some collard greens laying on a dollop of garlic mashed potatoes, making the potatoes soggy. No dessert was ordered."

"The Vinings location attempts to mirror the cooler loft-like atmosphere of the midtown location, with ultra-high ceilings, brick, and metal. Consequently the noise level is high, but the ambiance doesn't hit the right notes somehow. The food is great and the location is right for those in West Midtown, Austell, Vinings, and Smyrna. If you can't get to the location in Midtown or don't want to face traffic, it's a fabulous choice.
When we went, the wait staff was not as terrific as it usually is. The waiter's wine knowledge was mediocre at best and he seemed never be available when we wanted him. However, the food was delivered speedily and piping hot. All in all, it was a good experience and I'll definitely go back."

"Having eaten at the location in Midtown (and thinking that it was fantastic), I was looking forward to giving this location that was a little closer to home a shot. This did not disappoint. The menu between the two locations has some differences, and I think that the food at the Midtown location was a touch better, the food here was still quite good. I had the Georgia Trout, and while it was enjoyable, I found myself wishing I had ordered the Short Ribs my date ordered instead. The service was excellent though and gives them a slight bump in my overall opinion. If you're not looking to head downtown, this location is an excellent substitute."

"This was my very first time to South City Vinings (Easter Brunch); I've been to Midtown. The food was very good, but I found it very inconsistent, particularly on the entree & dessert. Appetizers was good. Entree - both of us had the shrimp and grits. Aside from being a tiny amount, my friend had 8 glorious shrimp, I had only 6 -- I felt slighted. For dessert (peach cobbler)? Oh my. My friend had about 6 pieces of peaches, and no crust (topping) whatsoever, and I had all topping and 1 peach; both had a scoop of icecream the size of a teaspoon. I started to get our waitress, but my friend convinced me to just swap - what ended up being two tablespoons of peach dessert. Quite surprise for what seems like a classy restaurant."

"Four of us had a great Easter brunch at SCKV. Our table was ready when we arrived, and we were seated promptly in a nice section of the dining area. We each had different choices from their fixed Easter menu. All were delicious and appropriately served. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Couldn't ask for more."

"Friendly and attentive service from the hostess to the attentive wait staff! We had a reservation and were seated right away. Nathan waited on our table, who was the best you could hope for!
