"One of the better French restaurants in the Boston area, I've always been a fan of Lumiere. Sadly, my last visit last Sunday was not quite up to my standards. Don't get me wrong - the food is still very good, but it's not quite the superb quality that I've experienced during past visits. Their sea scallops were quite good, but the steaks were overcooked (ordered medium rare, got medium well) and somewhat too tough to chew for the presumed meat quality."

"It had been several years since our last visit to Lumiere, so it was wonderful to learn that it is still an excellent restaurant. The food from simple salads through entrees, to dessert was terrific. Seasonings were subtle and added to flavor without dominating. The wine list is fabulous and accessible as it is arranged by taste and other wine characteristics rather than by region or source grape. Service was attentive. The meal was well-timed. All in all and excellent meal and value. We wil return soon."

"My annual spring forage for morels led us to Lumiere, where I had seen a chicken and morel dish on the menu. We we welcomed with an amuse of "beet tartare," minced golden beets atop a tiny slice of cucumber. We shared a side of Freekeh Pilaf as an appetizer. If you've never had this smoky grain, it's worth a try -- and fun to say, too! We both had the wonderful, moist chicken with morels as our entree. It was served atop cheddar grits, and enhanced by spring onions. With it we drank a glass of red wine from Greece, which had a bit of spice and paired well with the Freekeh as well as the chicken. Service was attentive and knowledgeable throughout. Glad to see this suburban restaurant was fully booked on a Tuesday night."

"This was our third visit to Lumiere in the past 2 years. The quality of the food, service, and overall dining experience was excellent during each of our meals. The dishes were interesting, thoughtfully-prepared and delicious. The portion sizes are just right. The staff is gracious and well-educated about the food and methods of preparation. We look forward to returning to Lumiere, and we recommend it to our friends."

"The menu at this restaurant changes constantly so make sure to ask your waiter about off-menu items. The chicken dish (morel glaze) was unreal. Perfectly moist and tender, crispy outside, with almost all bones taken out. I'm not always enthusiastic about paying $30 for the chicken dish, but here it was definitely extraordinary."

"Lumiere has become our "special" place. We have be going there for several years, a least a half dozen times each year. Always a sure thing with a chef's tasting menu that replaces the need to 'have to choose." The unpretentious staff, all of them, are very professional. They know their culinary offering and wine pairings. With years of experience, they create a relaxed, stress-free dining experience to enjoy your company and Lumiere's wonderful servings. You are in for a treat."

"Took a friend here for a late Sunday evening. It was a little far out of town but worth the drive. We had the chefs tasting menu with the wine pairings. Was very impressed with the meal given the price. The server, however, acted like he did want us or himself to be there. I know its late on a Sunday night but he made little effort to connect with us. I was not impressed. Each of the courses, however, were great. My favorite was the scallop dish, while the least exciting was the sirloin. I will probably be back."

"I had read some mixed reviews, but the restaurant came highly recommended by trustworthy sources. I am truly glad we went. The food and service were both outstanding. Even the Sazerac cocktail was so well mixed that I stopped by the bartender to ask for his recipe.
Mt greatest regret is that we are out-of-towners and cannot make this restaurant our go-to place."

"As many, we did the chef's tasting menu. The food was great. Each course was beautifully prepared with wonderfully balanced flavors. We were surprised at the degree of Asian influence in the dishes, although it made sense and worked well, especially with the seafood dishes.
We also ordered the wine pairing. It was certainly worth doing. The wines each complemented their dish well. However, we felt that only one of the wines, the Apfel Eis paired with the cheese course, was really the superb pairing, where the food and the wine escalate each other, you hope for out of a pairing like this"

"My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Lumiere and we're so glad we chose it over other fancier options. We love food and we expect the service to be just as thoughtful and skillful as the meal; we were not disappointed. The restaurant is really casual in a comfortable way and our server, Will, was a gem. He was very knowledgable about the many menu options and worked with the sous chef to accommodate some special requests. Overall, our expectations were exceeded and that doesn't always happen! We can't wait to go back with friends."

"My wife and I came here for our first date four years ago, Lumiere's has since become our traditional anniversary place. We have never had a bad experience here, the food is always delicious and the staff is professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Our most recent dinner was no exception, our server Gera was phenomenal and we will definitely request him next time. He was personable without being intrusive and made excellent recommendations on food and wine. The duck and hanger steak were both amazing, the chef is clearly going for quality over quantity and it shows. We left full but not stuffed, it was a perfect romantic evening! Thank you so much"

"My family and I have been big fans of Lumiere for a long time. As a former chef, my primary interest in restaurant dining is the service, and Lumiere has always provided very gracious and professional service.
I was a little disappointed that my Open Table reservation request for a quiet table was met with two seats near the bar, and that other patrons think this is a place to let their kids wear their baseball caps, play with their cell phones, and put their sneakers up on the chairs.
My wife (the birthday celebrant) was charmed and pleased as always, especially by the attentiveness of the service and the special caring touches."

"Was not our best meal there. We go a few times a year and have usually been more impressed with the cooking. Apps were good. Monkfish was tough and its sauce was just okay. Side order of Chinese greens was watery and the soy flavor didn't complement the main. Wine pairings were excellent. Dessert was good. Overall good but not up to expectations. Not sure if we will keep going back."

"Took my adult daughter to dinner, then we went across the street to see a movie. The selection of entree's was small and nothing called to us, so we chose four appetizers to share and had a delicious dinner with plenty to eat. The cauliflower soup. beet salad, scallops and a pasta dish were all scrumptious. And the pannicotta for dessert was divine."

"The food was outstanding; adventurous specials (goat roulade, sea bass tartare), excellent and inventive regular menu. The service was wonderful; attentive and friendly. The only thing to mention that was not great was that the wine list did not really have good lower price selection options (30-40 dollars) (as so many restaurants do not these days) so that if you were dining out during the week and you didn't want to spend a fortune on a great wine, you have limited choices. The room is not too formal or fussy, and the noise level is very comfortable; you can really relax and enjoy the evening here (especially in the booths)."

"Four of us had dinner at Lumiere and it was fantastic. Freindly, efficient but unobtrusive service. Very nice warm atmosphere. I had the charcuterie selection which included lamb sausage, duck pate and duck terrine- absolutely delicious. My wife had the tasting menu which included striped bass tartare, scallops, steak, cheese plate and dessert all of which were great. Some of the best french fries ever came with my steak. Our friends had the scallops and striped bass entrees which they really enjoyed. The apple tart and chocolate souffle cake were a great finish to a wonderful meal. Highly recommended."

"I enjoyed one of the finest meals I've ever had at Lumiere. Everything was perfect. I had hanger steak and fries after the delicious beet salad with the apple crumble for dessert. No restaurant can be completely consistent, but Lumiere comes close. This meal was the best ever. Great service too. Thank you"

"I was not a big fan of Lumiere when we last ate there about 10 years ago, but we wanted to do a little something special for our anniversary and decided to try it again. We chose the five course tasting menu with wine as a suitable splurge. It was wonderful. Not being a big carrot fan, the scallop course (even though cooked perfectly) was my least favorite. My husband loved it all. The sour cream sorbet on the apple tart with caramel was delicious. The first four wine pairings were great--the apple ice wine was a bit sweet with the sweet apple tart for me. The cheese course was just lovely. Definitely a meal--and an evening--to remember. Our server was incredibly accommodating and the staff was down-to-earth, friendly and helpful."
