"Scottish food? Really? That was the response of my family when told I'd selected the Haven, because of their fair to poor dining experiences in Scotland. However, they left fully satisfied. Duck confit, scallops, fish and chips (but not the peas) were all very good. Toffee sauce outstanding!"

"We brought our mom to the Haven for Mother's Day. We were all extremely impressed! We started with the seafood platter which had a variety of smoked fish and the Scottish deviled eggs. I had scallops, my mom got the fish supper, my brother the burger. Everything was perfectly done and the flavors were fabulous. The fried fish batter had a nutmeg tinge to it - unexpected but yummy! My brother says its the best burger he's ever had. Atmosphere is funky yet homey and the service was great - you feel like you can relax. Our server was also helpful explaining the beer list and letting my mom sample something before making a choice. And, the owner gave her a Scottish candy bar for mothers day. All in all, we cant wait to visit the Haven again!"

"As a table of four, we ordered 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts, plus drinks. Not a crumb remained on any plate. Everything was beyond our expectations ~ fresh and delicious. The cullent skink was made to order and outstanding. I had lamb vindaloo and whilst excellent to most American palates, I would have preferred it a whole lot hotter (as in spicier). Husband enjoyed the haggis which was individually prepared and cooked. I liked it but, once again, thought it might be tempered a little to American tastes ~ not as spicy and peppery as we have at home. That being said, it was delicious and we scoffed the lot. Sticky toffee pudding went down a treat and we all left very sated and vowing to return."

"We found The Haven on Open Table and were excited to try it based on other reviews. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was awesome...very energetic and lively. The staff were authentic Scottish and super helpful with beer recommendations. The food was really good across the board (there were 4 in our party and we all ordered different things so I had the opportunity to try several items on the menu). And to top it all off, there was an amazing bagpiper who played a couple of songs each hour. We had a blast and will definitely return!"

"We made a reservation and were seated almost immediately in a location that was really not to our liking. The staff immediately moved us back to a "waiting" table where we were able to chat and snack until a new (and perfect!) table was ready. They were understanding and happy to help us, the food was fantastic, everyone was lovely. We will definitely return!"

"My wife and I have been going there for a few years now. We feel welcome there! Everyone is warm and friendly. They treat you like they are happy to have you there. The food is great and fun. The vibe is great. The service is great. It takes us 40 minutes to drive there but it's worth it."

"We had a reservation, but our table wasn't ready. Nevertheless, the staff was good about keeping us informed and we were seated only about ten minutes late.
Service was attentive and efficient. Staff was concerned that everything was o.k. In fact, I didn't like the beer I ordered and the waitress was very gracious about my returning it and ordering another.
My only quibble is that my chicken was unexceptional--a generous portion, but bland. Not something I'd order again. I will, though, return. There are plenty of other dishes to try."

"We like The Haven. We've been here twice. It's Scottish, which is unusual, and it is has the feel of a small European neighborhood restaurant. The workers are friendly and the service is very good. (I like the Full Scotch breakfast with a pot of tea.)"

"We had a choice of JP restaurants last Friday night, and tried The Haven. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The server was attentive, and took our drink orders. There is a large selection on the drinks menu, and it was easy to find something that would complement the meal. We ordered the fish and chips, and were again served without too long of a wait. The large piece of fish was fried to perfection, and the chips were great with the homemade ketchup. (Of note, the chips held vinegar well, and reminded me of chips I had eaten in the UK.) The portions were the perfect size, and we had room for dessert. I wholeheartedly recommend the deep-fried Mars Bar, which, for those in the know, is manna from...well..The Haven."

"I made reservations to Haven at the recommendation of a friend. I had a longtime friend visiting from out of state, and it was a great place to meet up and catch up. The restaurant is small and full of great energy. Our waitress was amazing and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was just perfect. We were able to have a long meal (and try some great food) without being rushed."

"I hesistate to give an honest review simply as I'd like to keep this place a secret! Fantastic place with a great beer list and fun servers. Though I'm only Scottish by heritage, the menu seems pretty legit when compared to the pubs I visited in northern Scotland.

"My husband is of Scottish descent and were very excited to make the trip to the Haven for dinner. The reviews were great so we were excited for a great meal. We are adventuresome and well travelled dinners and enjoy a wide variety of food. We both agreed that our meal was one of the worst meals we have had in a long time. The menu was limited, the Scottish eggs were fair but not the best we have had. We were shocked the the ratings for the food were so high. Very disappointed in the food. and sadly would not recommend nor return for another meal."

"The Haven, time and time again, proves to be one of our favorite spots to eat out in the city. Jason, the owner, is one of the most kind and charming gentlemen I know, and the food, OH THE FOOD, is OUTSTANDING! The scotch egg is sinfully delicious and the burger is the BEST burger in all of Boston, no exaggeration. The service is flawless every time. The servers are always super knowledgeable and attentive, I have never felt like I had to wait too long for anything. This is and will always be one of my top three restaurants in the city. Truly a Haven."

"We've always enjoyed The Haven. They have a fantastic beer list and an extremely knowledgable and friendly staff. Our waiter paired beers with the food expertly, winning over two skeptical wine drinkers. I find the food top notch but on this visit my stuffed pepper wasn't cleaned properly. The top wasn't removed completely leaving me to bite down on the stem and its connected matter. I do wish the vegetarian option changed more frequently than it does. The three other people we dined with had no such problem and thoroughly enjoyed everything. A fantastic night overall."

"Due to traffic, we showed up one hour late. The Haven was friendly, understanding, and sat us immediately.
Most of the food was very good, except for burger, which was GOD-LIKE.
The service was friendly and the ambiance was wonderful. When they served us our dinner with a delay due to miscommunication, they comped us a burger.
I would definitely go back."

"The first time we went to The Haven was for Valentine's Day two years ago. Since then, we've been regulars. The food is always fantastic, the beer list phenomenal, and the new cocktails they come up with are always tasty-- one of our favorites is the Maggie May. We came back for V-Day this year and were just as pleased as we were the first time! The scallop special was unique and delicious, and the new amaretto trifle was a perfect end to the evening. Keep up the good work, everyone!"

"the haven is such a treasured spot! the food is delicious - best burger in JP. staff are friendly and fun. great beer list. love the atmosphere for a lively (but not chaotic) bar/pub experience. noise level really varies based on how busy it is. can be moderate to energetic. I don't like super loud/chaotic places but i do like a lovely energetic atmosphere and that's what you get at the haven. it's a cozy pub that's a sure-fire bet for good food and a fun night."

"A welcome change of pace from the Irish pub. I always enjoy discovering new Scottish beers and dishes (sassitch and mash? rumbledethump cake, anyone?) at The Haven. There's always a nice, relaxed vibe and friendly, knowledgeable servers. Their special events and music offerings are intriguing, too. I will be back, for sure."

"Who knew Scottish food included lamb vindaloo?! The menu reflects the Scotland of today and on two visits all entrees have been excellent: white pudding (sausage) with winter vegetables and amazing mashed potatoes, excellent fish and chips, seared scallops with more winter vegetables, and the Haven burger. If you need a fix of Scottish soul food look to the starters - the duck and parsnip salad is wonderful, but the star is the Scotch deviled egg - superb! And yes, you can order haggis and neeps, if you dare! Lots of interesting beers on the list (a few on draft). The wine list is short, but fine. We tried the cocktails on a prior visit -creative, but I like my Scotch neat. Skipped dessert because we were stuffed. A real find!"

"As someone that has visited Scotland on several occassions, this is the first place we found that has both the food and ambiance to match the real thing.
