Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar is a Coastal Italian restaurant with food and ambiance inspired by the Amalfi Coast, Italian Riviera and Sicily. Chef Victor LaPlaca creates light, fresh, and flavorful Italian cuisine that captures the spirit of these Italian provinces, where food, wine and hospitality are celebrated part of everyday life.
Isola primarily operates as a reservation restaurant.
"The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It looks like you are inside a greenhouse so you almost feel like you are outside and the decor is beautiful. If you go in through Crosby street, there is a great outdoor area. The food was very good. All the crudos are delicious as well as the fish. And you must have the tiramisu for dessert, delicious!!!"

"This restaurant is really very pretty. Its set in one giant greenhouse type room with lots of greenery and beautiful chandeliers. We started with raspberry, white peach bellinis at the bar which were made with fresh fruit and were absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a lot of meat and fish enters, this is not the place for you. However, there is a really nice selection of pizza and pasta. Myself and my friend tried the pasta and there were no complaints. Definitely worth going!"

"I would like to start by telling you how beautiful the room is - loved the ambience! The service, from our waitress to the bus boys and the person who filled our water glasses, was very attentive and friendly - pretty amazing. The food was also excellent. High marks to our plate of cheese, nuts, and meats antipasta; the beets salad; cod cheeks; tuna crudo; and the veal raviolis. The entrees of steak and chicken were very good, although we all preferred the shared appetizers more.
I had read the reviews about the poor service and the loud music, but my party did not experience any of that. We did go on a Tuesday evening and it was fairly early for a New York dinner - 6PM to 8PM."

"I took my boyfriend to Isola to celebrate his 30th birthday. The space is gorgeous and the food was delicious, but the music was so loud it was impossible to carry on a conversation. What would would have been a great meal was ruined by the DJ spinning so loud that we walked out with sore throats from screaming at each other."

"Amazing ambiance!!!! The restaurant is really great and worth visiting! The music is a bit too loud for lunch time, but the DJ was the best in terms of music selection! The food was just OK but deserts were INCREDIBLE!!!"

"Really do not have any complaints. Beautiful space. Service was good not great. Waiters were polite and attentive. Food was good brunch food. Drinks were small. Without drinks good value. With drinks, as we all know in NYC, value worse.
50/50 I would go back."

"One of the best pasta dishes I have had in a long time. Cauliflower Agnolotti with truffle butter, mushrooms and parmesan. Yum. The waitress made a great wine recco as well. I was expecting the scene to be intimidating, even on a Tuesday night, but I guess because it was a Tuesday, it actually felt very relaxed and chill. Nice to have a surprisingly low-key moment at this hot spot. There were no shortage of celebs, though, we saw Emma Watson and Jonah Hill (who must have been staying at the Mondrian since they just walked through the restaurant together) and Ashley Tisdale, who was having a drink at the bar."

"Have been to Isola several times for drinks and have always enjoyed myself, but went there for dinner for the first time earlier this week and had the worst dining experience I have ever had in NYC. It took us 40 min to get served our appetizer--we even had to ask the hostess where our app was. Then they completely forgot to bring us the crudo we ordered. Once we finished our apps, it was another 20 min before they cleared the table and, after all that, we waited another 20 min to be served our main courses which were dry and showed up in scalding hot plates (obviously they had been left out under the heat lamps for a very long time). Needless to say, I will never go back for dinner."

"This is an incredible restaurant with a visual impact second to none. That said, the food is not to be believed: really authentic Italian cuisine. The service people were very helpful and professional, something that is hard to find today. We will definitely go back."

"Energetic for the noise is an understatement. Everyone was talking so loudly because you could not hear your dinner partner across the table. The music was blaring. It's a real trendy scene Saturday night. I was staying at the hotel following my wedding and we were probably two to three times the age of most of the people in the restaurant. If you're older and staying at the hotel, I suggest finding another restaurant in the neighborhood where you'd have a dining experience and not need to get out as soon as possible (which, I suppose is the aim) so you could have a conversation."

"While the food was amazing (tuna crudo, sepia alla plancha, the meatballs, the scallops, and the tartufo), the service was lacking. Our server was disinterested and I had to ask for water on a couple of occasions. The bussers were on top of their game clearing plates but the server would disappear. The ambiance was great though and I'd like to return when it gets warmer in order to eat outside."

"I came here for my girlfrinds birthday & was very impressed. The small area in front of restaurant ligned with tress and fairy lights gives a nice ambiance before entering for dinner. The food was great (Although I have had better Italian) We started with a Crudo dish, while good its not my idea of italian & I would skip next time around. We also had a Foccia bread with caramelized onions which was fantastic. I recommend tryin the meat ball starter, I saw a few people order it & it looks fantastic!! As a main we both had pasta dishes, oxtail ragu & clams with pancetta, both were very enjoyable. All in all in the food it very good but to some degree it is the ambaince that you are paying for at this Soho spot."

"My friends and i went there for restaurant lunch. We actually ended up sitting at the bar and ordering of the regular menu! The food was great, particularly the crudo and I believe the artichoke pizza. The cocktails were also awesome. Actually our bartender(I forget his name) was great and eager to fashion up new cocktails based on what we liked!!!
The space is absolutely beautiful! I can only imagine how it must look in the evening!! Although, it is attached to a hotel(a great hotel at that!), I strongly recommend trying it out. The restaurant certainly holds it own. Thank You!"

"The food was really terrific... the best meatballs I've ever had. I would recommend going back for the outstanding food and the beautiful ambiance. There isn't another room like it in NYC. However, the service was not up to par. We had to ask for a waiter after being seated for 10 minutes with no menu, drinks, etc. No bread was brought to the table and we were charged $12 for water when we asked for tap. Had to find the waiter when we were ready for a second round, too. Still, worth the trip."

"Great restaurant inside chic boutique hotel, the Mondrian. Crudo was excellent...esp the Hamachi crudo. Bellini fans...the Mondrian Bellini is fab! Our waiter was knowledgable and very helpful with suggestions. Great restaurant week menu. This place is esthetically beautiful inside...sexy spot for a date."

"Isola is amazing! From the food to the service, however, the desserts trumps everything in the restaurant. The desserts are worth going back for more time and time again! The deconstructed tartufo is single-handedly one of the best desserts I've had in recent times. I'd skip dinner and go straight for dessert."

"Isola has it's own time zone.... It is 35 minutes later than NY time. So if you want to eat at 9, make a reservation for 815.
9 PM reservation: refused to seat us with 5 of 7 of our party present 910 the other two show up Gee, we are waiting for the table to pay and then reset 930: 3 empty tables 935: I collar the manager to ask why we are not seated 945: waiter comes over 1000: wine ordered at 950 is poured
I think you get the idea
Food is adequate but not outstanding
The dancing hostess was amusing and the DJ music choice made those comforable tiwh 80s/90s mix happy the room is pretty and rocking
Wine list a bit pricey"

"went to Isola for the lunch restaurant week special w/ some colleagues. It is a BEAUTIFUL restaurant, will a windowed/greenhouse-esque roof, beautiful white glass crustal everywhere. I had the meatballs (amazing!) and the chicken, also very good and everyone gets the panna cotta, which was nice, but I hate grapefruit which is what tops it. Wish they would've offered other dessert options. Definitely want to go back here in the summer time to sit outside. The restaurant was fairly quiet, so it's odd that we barely ever saw our server, not the best service, but the ambiance/decor/food make up for it."

"We were staying in the upper east side so it was a bit of a hike, but I loved seeing different parts of the city. When the cap stopped and we saw the beautiful white lights outside we knew we were in for a treat. The host who seated us was very eccentric, super nice and even made sure we had prosecco promptly. Inside was beautiful with all the chandeliers. The chairs weren't the most comfortable, tables close...but overall very nice. I got the scallops and they were amazing. Everyone loved their choices, but scallops the best. I would go back again."

"I recently went here for Saturday brunch. They had an acoustic guitar player who only added to the vibe. Its pretty much a fancy greenhouse with gorgeous all glass chandeliers and vases hanging from the ceiling. The food was amazing! My friend had a burger that was so perfect it looked like it belonged on the magazine cover and I had the steak, eggs, breakfast potatoes that was delicious. We chatted the entire time and never felt rushed by the staff or straining our voices over the background noise. After walking around soho it was a like a little magical garden hidden in between the buildings. We definitely plan on heading back."

"The food was very good. Allthough we visited for the NYC Restaurant Week we ended up getting something from the main menu.
The only complaint we have is that it took too long for the waitress to take our order (after providing the menu cards and water); and then we waited for someone to come to our table at least 10 minutes after our plates were taken away. We also asked a waitress for two espresso's, and she just forgot. Mind you that the place was not busy. The Bus Boy was great."
