"MODERN CANADIAN CUISINE"
Red Canoe Bistro is serving fresh, flavourful, exciting and innovative Modern Canadian Cuisine.
Our focus is on regional Canadian ingredients that combine classical techniques with current concepts.
Our fantastic seasonally influenced menus will highlight Canada's farmers,
fishers and producers while supporting
Canada's cultural mosaic and its rich ethnic cuisines. As nightly specials we will also feature multiple course tasting menus exploring ingredients like the fruits of Niagara, wild edibles or local game meats.
We have two warm and inviting licensed dining rooms with space for private parties, events and meetings of over 70 guests. We also bring over 25 years of collective experience to off-site event catering.
"The one thing that sets the Red Canoe Bistro apart from other restaurants is that they focus on getting their produce and food from the local farmers in the area. The food was delicious and well presented. Our waiter was also very good and he was knowledgeable about the wines that they serve. They have an extensive wine list and most importantly the wines are from the local area. I would definitely go back. I'd like to try some of their other dishes and everyone at our table was more than happy with their food. It's a good place for special occasions as some of their prices can be a bit pricey, but the food was well worth it."

"Food and service were very good, but there was a very long wait times between courses. Fortunately, we were there for an evening out and the extremely leisurely pace did not hamper our enjoyment of the evening. However, those who wish a faster paced meal should be cautioned not to expect that here."

"We ordered the seven course with wine pairings - absolutely delish. The cauliflower, potato + aged cheddar soup was simply perfect. Will definitely be back next time we are in Burlington. Our table of seven people had a fabulous time there catching up and did not feel rushed at all."

"I had the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Expensive but not outrageous. Chef very accomodating in making a substitution on 1 course. Everything delicious and beautifully presented. Friendly (but not intrusive) and knowledgeable server. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend."

"This was our first time at the Red Canoe. The food was excellent. We had the spinach and wild mushroom salad which was delicious. Then for entrees, lamb and pickerel. Both served beautifully but very small portions for the money. The pickerel was $27 for approx 4 ounces. One criticism was the noise, we had to raise our voices to speak across the table and with everyone else in the restaurant doing the same, there was no sound absorption. Also the music was too loud. The server had a "chip on her shoulder" attitude. We were served promptly but she had an edge to her personality that was not appreciated and she did not do a table check after the entrees. We would not go back. It's too bad because the food is very good."

"This is a great little place where the food is local and made for you by the owner. The meals and their presentation are fancy but the atmosphere is simple and comfortable. What a great place to go for a great meal. The dinner will be pricey but the food is delicious. Flavourful but not spicy. This chef is very, very good. If you are looking for something that is not a chain restaurant and want to feel like your food was worth every penny spent than this is the place to go. Casual, comfortable, personalized and delicious."

"really appreciated the vegan/vegetarian menu and options but it would have been great to know they existed via the website -- If it were up to me, (the vegetarian), I wouldn't have come here as I thought I'd be eating salad. Again. Good food -- but quite pricey. Not the place to come if you're offended by veal, foie gras or other inhuman meats!!"

"The bread, salad, chili, fish, vegetables were fantastic. Excellent wine recommendation. My only complaint were the desserts. My sweet potato pie was tasteless and my husband's apple struedel was tough. The portions were great for the appetizers and mains but very small for desserts."

"Food was terrific. Courses were just the right size. Service was good but there were long periods of no one stopping by, especially at the end of the meal. Would defiantly go back though."

"Have never had a server more knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wine - especially Ontario. Great food/great service/well chosen wine -- a superb combination."
