"My wife and I chose this restaurant for our anniversary celebration because we have come to rely on it over the years for consistently high food quality, preparation, and service, as well as the the cozy elegant ambience that the Harvest Room in the Hotel MacDonald offers. One special feature of the menu is the offering of various organic meat and vegetable choices. The chefs show creativity in the blend of flavours - we were not disappointed. If you tell the staff that you are celebrating a special occasion like and anniversary, they will also bring you a little surprise at the end of the meal. This restaurant is on our "must visit again" list."

"i would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. VERY VEREY VERY expensive; food ok but not worth the price. the ambiance was horrible (an update is in order!) and the biggest complaint is that on the hotest day of the year so far, they didn't want to open the patio because it took too much staff. For the money I paid, I could've gone out 3 times somewhere else. NEVER again!"

"We were there for quite awhile, first having drinks in the lounge and then our meal in the actual restaurant. The service was attentive but certainly not overbearing, the food was amazing, and the little extra touches were great. They brought us a complimentary plate of chocolates for our anniversary (and for almost every other table as well)and we left the restaurant feeling happy and stuffed."

"We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Harvest Room in the Hotel Macdonald. Our server was Ivan, who was attentive and courteous throughout the evening. Our dinner choices were outstanding- my wife chose sablefish and I chose venison. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and were delicious. My wife chose the scallop as an appetizer, while I had the salmon "three ways". Besides the fact that I only noted two ways that the salmon was prepared, it was a beautiful prelude for the dinner that was to come. The setting for the restaurant is exquisite and perfectly suited for a special occasion, such as an anniversary. all in all, a perfect evening."

"For a restaurant inside one of the nicest hotels in Edmonton, I expected much more than The Harvest Room delivered. The food was just ok, considering their lunch buffet costs $26 per person for soup, salad and sandwiches, significantly more than eating elsewhere for the same type of food, I was hoping the food would taste better than mediocre. I can get better sandwiches from catering companies or one of the many new fast food sandwich locations popping up around Edmonton for significantly less money. Even though it was a buffet, there was nothing I felt like seconds of and barely finished my first go around."

"Surprised my wife by taking her for breakfast (sans kids) to kick off her 40th birthday. It seemed like they knew me right off the bat and we got sat at a very romantic table overlooking the river valley. The coffee was fresh and flavourful, and we ordered the lobster benedict and the crab omelette. Both were divine (does that make me a foodie?) and done just right. We topped off the morning with some champagne/orange juice, and they even brought out a special birthday dessert. Great ambiance and the perfect setting to also surprise her with a spectacular diamond bracelet to mark the occasion. Yes, I am the man... But the Harvest Room was the perfect side kick!"

"From the moment we arrived we were treated as very welcome guests. From the Maitre d to our server Santana. Warm and friendly, thanking us for choosing the Harvest room. Excellent service, excellent presentation of food. The Lobster chowder was very great. I had the lamb duo which was cooked to perfection. Amazing flavors. My wife had a Barramundi fish dish with an orange sauce. The creme brulee for desert was one of the most memorable I have ever had. We mentioned to Santana that it was our 35th anniversary and they surprised us with a anniversary platter of some chocolates with Happy Anniversary written in Belgian chocolate. Very nice touch. High quality service and food. Pricey so will reserve for special occasions. Will return."

Also although the meal was very swift, almost too swift, getting the bill and paying was much less so. At their prices, ok food isn't enough to convince me to go back when there are many less expensive alternatives with spectacular food out there."

"I had the executive dinner for $50 which includes 3 courses. Both food and service were excellent and the $50 meal was great value. I had duck breast for the starter, duo of beef tenderloin and braised beef ribs for the entree and chocolate pate for dessert. The dinner started with a bread basket served with delicious tomato herb butter and a complimentary amuse-bouche. I would definitely recommend the Harvest Room for a special occasion or just a fancy night out."

"Our meal was fantastic! The service was above & beyond what you experience in most restaurants. We were fortunate to dine here during the "Downtown Dining" week, so we were able to order from their executive menu created for the event. It meant an appetizer, main and dessert for $50.00 - the food was incredible and a great value. We even got an amuse-bouche which was delightful and unexpected! The best part was an short rib that was fork tender and bursting with flavor,it was incredible - the whole meal was, but that short rib will keep me coming back.

"Ww had not been to the Harvest Room for quite a while and now wish we hadn't waited so long from the greeting at the door to the goodnight everything was excellent. Downtown businees special was great value and delectable. Ivan was our server and was great and selected a nice bottle of wine for us toom Will be back soon."

"The chicken I ordered was overcooked, and the accompanying fingerling potatoes were hard as a rock. My wife ordered the Duo of Lamb and the first piece she loved and the second piece was so fatty that she was not able to eat it. It was not the kind of meal that you expect for $40-50 an entrée."

"Went with a group of colleagues for the lunch buffet. The salad dressings were impressive (both the ceasar and the unique vanilla honey vinaigrette) but I felt the vegetarian sandwiches were good (maybe I was expecting amazing, as most things are from hotel mac!). Overall, everyone was very happy with the experience and well-priced lunch buffet."

"This was only my second time for dinner at the Harvest Room, having been there many times for breakfast and lunch meetings. And like most experiences at the Hotel Macdonald, everything was perfect. We had a quiet table (as requested, although the dining room was quiet that evening anyhow), the service was exceptional (thank you, Santana) and the food was 5 star. I had the lobster ravioli which deserves the accolades it has received and my friend had the beef tenderloin off of the "healthy" menu. It was melt in your mouth tender and incredibly flavorful. Can't recommend the Harvest Room highly enough."

"Went to the Harvest Room to celebrate an anniversary. Hadn't hadn't been there in years, so we were really looking forward to it for our special occasion. We don't drink and once it became clear to our server that we weren't going to be ordering wine, it seemed like we weren't very interesting anymore. We ordered pop and were never offered refills and never offered coffee or tea with dessert. Just seemed like they wanted us out of there so they could get someone else at the table. The food was okay, but certainly not as amazing as you'd find at the Hardware Grill (for the same money). Presentation was dull. It just wasn't good enough for the money."

"We had an outstanding meal - four different appetizers, four different antrees and four different dessetrts - everything was amazing!! The steak and the lamb were very tender, the sable fish was perfectly done and what a nice surprise - to get a lobster tail with the lobster ravioli (much hardier that expected). The service was excellent!!!"

"Disappointed!!! We have been there on a number of occasions and rates it as five stars. What' a let down...the Lobster soup as described on the menu was not as advertised...They must have run out of the Lobster and roasted fingerling potatoes! All we had on the two orders was a very tiny portion of "chopped" unidientifiable hash. Come on Chef you can do better!!"
