"Best of local sourced food presented with International excellence and flair. The ultimate Oregon Pinot Noir wine list with excellent offerings by the glass too. Only negative: wait staff were well informed and helpful, but overall a bit too formal, plus disregard website statement about "jackets for men suggested"-no guest that evening but me had on a jacket."

"We visited the Willamette Valley 7 years ago, but misfortune struck, and the Painted Lady was briefly closed due to water pipe breakage. We recently returned, and couldn't wait to try again. The experience was terrific. The food was outstanding. It was creative, beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. The service was also exceptional. The kind of place where you don't even notice how the correct utensil magically appears when needed. One great example - as the hostess greeted us, she reached into the supply of linens to select light or dark napkins according to our dress, to ensure that nobody's nice outfit was covered in lint. Wine pairings were well matched. And (amazing!) it was quiet enough to hear each other!"

"Our dinner at the Painted Lady truly was the finest imaginable prix fixe experience. Each course was delicious and so beautifully presented. The one off note was that my main course had somehow been allowed to cool off too much before it was served, which greatly impacted my enjoyment of the main event. Other than that, all was perfection, and I will spend the remainder of my life day-dreaming about the gnocchi with wild mushrooms."

"I have had the pleasure of dining at some of the better restaurants around the country as well as many in France and Italy. I would rank the meal I had at the Painted Lady as one of my top 5 best ever. The presentation was wonderful and the service impeccable. I was in Newberg on business so my wife was not able to share the experience. Although I live in Seattle, I am planning our anniversary weekend around a trip back to Newberg in order to celebrate out anniversary dinner at the Painted Lady."

"The whole experience at the Painted Lady was incredible! The service was wonderful we never felt crowded or bother but someone was always there and attending to our need. The food was delectable and such a fantastic experience the many small portions were filling but also made you fill good, and it was great to try so many new and different things. The atmosphere was quite and comfortable felt like i was in my own home.

"My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary last week at The Painted Lady and had one of the best meals and dining experiences in recent memory! Each course was noteworthy on its own merits, from appetizer to desert. "Fantastic experience. Diners need to be prepared for an entire evening at The Painted Lady. Our experience was 3 hours. Staff was very professional and polite. Explained everything on the menu and every course when brought to the table. If time is short in Wine Country this is a must stop (if you enjoy fine dining). Dress code is jackets preferred, but not required. Some gentlemen were without jacket, but wore dress shirt with tie."

"The staff were very polite and their customer service was above reproach. Even when there was a rude customer who instead of asking for assistance decided to grab a well chilled bottle of white wine, dropping it on his dinner companion's plate breaking it, when staff approached he made a snide comment about doing their job and the staff was polite and quick to clean up the mess and replace the meal he ruined.
I apologized to our waiter for that as it was undeserved and my wife and I felt bad about that for them."

"This was our second special dining event at The Painted Lady. This was my gift to my husband for his birthday. I noted that on the reservartion and he was king for the evening. The food is among the best we have experienced in New York City and France. What a gem to be found in a small town in rural Oregon. The Oregon Wine pairings with each course reflected the beauty of vintages and the talent of the chef. This is our go to place for anniversaries and birthdays.My husband was persented with a personal birthday cake to take home since dessert was part of the prix fix menu. Our server waited for us at the front door to take our picture on the front porch as left. This was a memorable evening to celebrate my husband's life."

"The food was prepared perfectly and the presentation was beautiful. The service was impeccable. We had the chef's menu with the wine pairing and left everything to their very capable hands. They amazed us with every dish. It is always a pleasure to sit down and be treated to the chef's amuse-bouche, in this case a trio of bites, before we started our official meal. After our dessert another surprise arrived, a three-tiered tower of chocolates and cookies. They even asked about our favorites and then when we left had them boxed up for us to enjoy later. It was our anniversary and they made it very special indeed."

"We felt very rushed. We had the Valentine's tasting menu. They brought the courses so rapidly, my husband couldn't even finish the wine parings in between. They had no sooner set down our final dessert course when not one, but two servers came by and tried to box it up to go for us. "The food and service at this quaint neighborhood house restaurant was excellent, however I found the menu to be a bit misleading. The price fix menu stated that the meal was $65 per person, with wine pairing $85. We ordered the meal with wine pairing and received a bill for $300 for the two of us. The bill was for $65 per person AND an additional $85 for the wine pairing. I believe it should have been made clearer regarding the additional charge for wine pairing. Other than that, the food was wonderfully different from other high end restaurant fare I have had and very good. The wine pairing was spot on as well."

"This restaurant is an absolute gem! You will pay for the food and the service...and it is worth every penny!
The menu is fixed price ($65 or $80)...and you have the option of adding wine pairings. We were so wined-out from a weekend of tasting in the Newberg/McMinnville area that we all went with martinis before dinner.
My recommendations: the butter-poached oysters (others had the matsutake/shrimp broth and said it was excellent also)...the steelhead course...the New York steak...and the apple tart tatin.
The service at this restaurant is the best I've had anywhere -- in the U.S., Europe or Latin America. They are attentive, but not overly; they are friendly, but not casually; they are well-trained, but not pretentious."

"when I told them I had reservations, they didn't show them. Even though i made them about an hour before arriving, maybe it was due to the last minute reservation on Open Table, however it was no problem, we were given a nice table. They just mentioned that it was the second time that had happened, so I thought that I would mention it."

"A truly outstanding meal. We chose the Chef's menu and sat back and enjoyed all 7 courses. The pistachio encrusted tenderloin was the best steak I've ever had. Everything was delicious and it was a wonderful place to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We recommend the Painted Lady for a special night out."

"My wife and I ate here during a long weekend in Oregon wine country. Enjoyed our meal and the wine a lot. The only knock is that the food is a bit fussy old style French, but executed very well with great service to accompany. We would definitely go back!"

"This was our second time dining at The Painted Lady and it was a birthday dinner as well. The service was excellent and it was nice to see the same faces as the first time we had dined there in August. This time we chose the 5 course menu and the food and presentation did not disappoint!!! The wine paring was also a choice this visit and the choices with the food were wonderful! There was a specially wrapped box with a piece of cake that the birthday person was able to take home as well. All in all a fabulous experience."

"We had a delicious meal that exceeded all our expectations. The food was wonderful and the wines were perfectly paired. The staff took great care of us and a quick, table side visit from the chef was icing on the cake. An expensive place to dine, but you get what you pay for! Well worth taking the time to visit, especially for a special occasion."

"A beautiful Victorian home remade into an upscale restaurant with great ambiance and top-rung service. The food was presented very well although it was hard for me to hear as each serving was explained. Small portions, as to be expected, but not the exceptional taste treat we were expecting. "Went there for a significant birthday celebration replete with two younger children. While it definitely is a true gourmet restaurant they were tolerant of a restrained singing happy birthday and opening a large present that was a box in a box in a box...... The food, the menu offerings, the assisted wine selection, the service all were exceptional. Best dinner for the four adults ever and the two little girls said they felt like princesses. The waiter was very accommodating to the food selections for the children. Lived in SF Bay Area for 50 years and never had a dining experience this good and have spent considerably more there and likewise in NYC and Europe. Simply a fantastic dining experience! Highly,highly recommended."
