Wildfish Seafood Grille - Scottsdale
The only thing primitive about Wildfish Seafood Grille is the swimmingly fresh seafood -- mostly caught the day before and shipped next day on ice. Otherwise, this cosmopolitan bistro is as sophisticated as any fine eatery in New York or Vegas. Burnished wood, dim theatrical lighting, cozy tables, a stylish exhibition kitchen and central bar with several TVs available to catch the game embellish the interior. Veteran restaurateurs Guy Villavaso and Larry Foles (Z'Tejas, Eddie V's Edgewater Grille) have created a fierce seafood-steakhouse combination, which attracts food-loving couples, ladies on a luxurious night out and sexy singles at the bar. Because Wildfish is not as wallet-busting as similar concepts in the area, go ahead and start with a spicy lump crab cake surrounded in a buttery remoulade sauce. If you're in the mood for steak, pick a finely aged filet, rib eye or veal chop.

"We ate in the bar area thinking it would be faster service. No fussy waiters explaining the specials since we've eaten here a number of times. The problem, each and every time our little princess came around I thought I was going to choke from her perfume. I wish managers would insist that servers not load up on the perfume. I couldn't taste my food, or my wine."

"Although the food and service and service are excellent, the noise level is painful. Seriously detracts from the enjoyment of the good food! Additionally, although the restaurant is handicapped accessible, it is difficult. My mother (96) uses a walker and the length of the walk from the front of the restaurant to the back and then up a ramp was almost impossible. Furthermore, if she had used her wheelchair, I don't know how we would have maneuvered through the restaurant at all."

"The crab cakes are the best. 100% crab with no filler. It is huge, and not even close to ones at the Ocenaire in San Diego. The service was second to none. Waitors were dressed in clean Tuxedos. I had the barbeque salmon. It was perfectly seared on the outside and still salmon on the inside. My side was brussels sprouts which were also tastefully done. She had a type of light, flaky, buttery fish with asparagus. For desert we had the pineappe upside-down cake. Again, the best heap of sugar I have experienced."

"We went for our final dinner in Scottsdale and had a great Happy Hour experience. Great bar menu and really a good value. Things went downhill after going to our table. Our server was pleasant enough, but only halfway doing her job. After we had our food we heard 2 other servers (on either side of us) describe the specials not on the menu. We were encouraged to order the large twice baked potato side...which would serve 6 not 2...what a waste. She never asked if we wanted another glass of wine and then brought the check without telling us about our dessert choices. She left us with the feeling that she just wanted to speed things along either to turn the table quickly or to be through with her shift. Won't return!"

"The food was great! Ambiance was good and was quiet until it started to fill up and then was moderate. Outdoor dining is available if you don't mind the traffic on Camelback. All dishes were a la cart so expect to sepend a little more if you want salad, vegetables, etc. with your entre. We both had one of the specials and it was really super and had enough left to take home."

"Wildfish was pretty good. The staff was wonderful, but the food wasn't quite worth that price tag. We were there for our wedding anniversary and the staff did a beautiful job with fresh rose pedals and a cute card on the table. Not to mention our dessert was on the house! (Fantastic molten chocolate cake BTW) Overall, may not go back to sit down at a table, but maybe for the awesome happy hour at the bar."

"This is in the top 5 of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix. The seafood is always great. It is a delight to have dinner on their patio watching the people and traffic on Camelback Road. "Food and service were both top notch. AQsk for Nikko. He is the best and most knowledgable of any server I have encountered. Always was one step ahead without rushing. We celebrated a very special birthday and he made her feel like a million bucks. The chef didn't let us down either. Fresh halibuit and scallops were outstanding-cooked perfectly. Pineapple upside down cake was areal treat too.
I will recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and a fun time."

"Another great meal. The menu is so full of great choices, it was hard to decide what to order. We loved the calamari, the seafood salad, and the salmon special. The wine list has lots of great and affordable choices and the service is friendly and competent."

"After reading multiple reviews all of which were favorable I decided to try Wildfish Grille. I now see why the reviews were all positive
From start to finish dining at Wildfish was wonderful. The food was excellent the service was awesome. My best recommendation is

"Food was great. My husband got the fish special (barramundi) - very good. My daughter got the lemon sole and loved it. I had the scallops and they were delicious. The calamari appetizer was wonderful as was the ahi tuna. Service was very good as well. Appropriately present at all times with our waiter offering suggestions and engaging us. I really liked this place and would definitely recommend it."

"While staying in downtown, Phoenix, we decided to visit Scottsdale for dinner. Wanted to sit on the patio, but it was booked understandbly. Nevertheless, had a nice table inside. My wife had the swordfish, I had scallops - both excellent. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well. Prices were a bit high, but reflective of the quality experienced. Overall, a very enjoyable evening"

"Wildfish was exactly what you would expect...very luxurious Scottsdale restaurant. The service was excellent, again I say excellent. The perfect amount of attention without the overbearing interruptions or attention needy waiter that you get sometimes with good service.
The issue was the food. It was good, nothing bad or horrible, but nothing popped with the same caliber as the rest of the restaurant. We ordered: Crab Cake(good), Chowder Soup(runny and just ok) the market special(Washington Trout over asparagus with crab)(great trout, rest ok),their signature dish(Sea Bass over spinach with suace - cannot remember the name)(bland) and pinnaple upside down cake (AMAZING)

"Yum, yum, and yum. My boyfriend and I went to Wildfish on a Friday night. The place had a busy, fun vibe. We had the salmon and the chilean sea bass and will definitely have them both again. For sides we had Brussels sprouts and the mac and cheese. They were fabulous together. We ordered large sides and figured we would have leftovers. Nope. For the perfect end to the meal, we had the pineapple upside down cake. We left with big smiles on our faces. We'll be back very soon!"
