"Why do almost all north end restaurants serve terrible bread? It weird. But look past that with Riccardos because the rest of our food was wonderful. We live I the north end so are pretty critical when eating out. We fully enjoyed our meals and the prices were reasonable. Nice ambiance. Service was prompt but not too much. We will definitely be back!,"

"I have dinned at Riccardo's several times over the years but had not been there for a while. I'm glad to say nothing has changed. The food and services is still great. The dinning room is roomy and warm. The food is tops and the owner will stop buy to see how you are doing. One of the better places in the North End!"

"We were sat in the window at a larger table - great view and ambiance. The server was very nice but not very expereinced. The bread was ice cold and stale. I ordered the Sea Bass, a menu item, and at 8:00, there was no more and Haddock was suggested to replace it. OK - I'm ok with that. My wife ordered the veal special. My meal was lackluster with a few cherry tomatoes strewn on top and two slices of eggplant on the side (far from the "grilled vegetables" the menu said - and when I finally got the waiter to stop setting other tables that obviously were not going to be used that night, he told me that the 2 slices of eggplant WAS the grilled vegetables!). Wife's veal was chewy/tough."

"Reservation was made, but we waited for an hour to be seated. It was a graduation weekend so we were trying to be patient, but wait staff was argumentative about everything. Had to ask for bread and water repeatedly. Food was so so. Very disappointing service and food for a celebration dinner. Our table's experience was shared by others in the room. Clearly the restaurant was overwhelmed and handled everything extremely poorly."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Riccardo's. We sat by the window and though it was raining, we were able to look out at the street scene. I had the mediteranean seabass that was fresh, and cooked to perfection. My husband had the Shrimp Riccardo and enjoyed the flavors and plumpness of the shrimp.
The service was attentive and excellent. All of the staff including management was very friendly and made our experience memorable.
If in the North End, you must give Riccardo's Restaurant a visit."

"We had a slight delay in sitting down for our 8'oclock reservation, however, the owner went out of his way in accommodating so many large parties on one of the biggest college graduation nights in the city. Once seated, our party enjoyed one of the most authentic and delicious meals this native Bostonian has ever had in Boston's North End! Beginning with a wonderful antipasto right thru till the last bite of dessert, coupled with a wonderful wine selection, it was truly a true experience of the North End at it's finest! A must stop for those seeking the ultimate in North End cuisine!"

"Worst Ever. A new height in bad service, and Open Table limits the total characters of a review so I cannot publish my complete rant. The girl tending bar was completely out of her depth. When one of my family members asked for gin with a lemon twist she proceeded to dig into a lemon rind with her fingernail to get it. Yuk. After waiting about 45 minutes for our table we were treated to a waitress who literally didn't give a..... That's the only explanation I can deduce from her behavior. We waited 2+ hours for food - and while waiting we may have seen her twice. Drinks went dry, no bread was delivered to the table, water ran out…. When the food finally came, it was good, but it couldn't make up for the experience. Skip it."

"Go for the specials! My friend had the Bracciolinni special and it did not disappoint. I had a classic shrimp madeira ala riccardo and it too was tender and perfectly cooked. No room for dessert, but try for the chocolate infused sweeet red wine, a perfect last taste to finish the meal. Excellent!"

"I brought a colleague from Kentucky to experience the North End and chose your restaurant because my husband and I had visited before. I knew it was nice, reasonable in cost and just the right experience for her. She loved it. Also I called in advance before you were open and you called me right back to confirm my reservation. I thank you so much, we had a great evening."

"Had a great dining experience at Riccardo's! Service was prompt and professional. Food was well prepared and presented. Location is off the hectic scene of Hanover Street. A neighborhood gem!!!"

"We had 16 people for dinner at Riccardo's and it was excellent. The service was great, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. The restaurant is a good size without being too big and has a really nice bar where you can wait. I would highly, highly recommend it. The prices were also very, very reasonable."

"We found Riccardo's very disappointing. I ordered fish, my husband ordered steak, and both dishes were accompanied by stewed peppers which were swimming in oil. The restaurant was extremely noisy and we were pleased to leave. We would not return."

"Rite on north square across a ancient cobblestone street from Paul Revere's house is Riccardo's. I had been told the food and the service are very good. They did not disappoint. We had a wonderful meal and the staff was very attentive. The servers seemed to know we were in for a nice relaxing meal and did not rush us in the least. The pace was perfect. The room is very classy: rich, dark woods but with plenty of large bright windows opening onto the street. There was a large group upstairs in the function room but downstairs it was very quiet and relaxed. As much as I like the North End Hanover Street at times is unmanageable. Riccardo's, being off the beaten path, is a real gem. I will certainly be back as will the rest of my party."

"They had a private function going on at the time of our reservation and it seemed they were more interested in them. We waited ten minutes to be seated for no one was manning the door, the bar maid finally came over and seated us. The food was good but not wow so as to draw us back. There are many other very fine Italian restaurants that serve better food for much less"

"I could not be more pleased with Riccardo's. We were a large group of 22 and the waiter was right on the ball, brining us appetizers offering suggestions and just being very helpful and friendly. The food was sooooo delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal from 6 year old up to folks in their 70's. Outstanding gem. We had been on an adventure in Boston and were ready for lunch and I am so glad that I had made reservations with Open Table and found such a gem of a restaurant. I would highly recommend Riccardo's to anyone. Fantastic meal and great wait staff."

"Overall, I was disappointed in my meal at Riccardo's. We had a reservation for a medium to large group, and it took about 15 minutes for the host to seat us; at least he was apologetic when he did seat us! When our group ordered food, it took over 45 minutes for them to serve us. It took approximately 25 minutes for them to return our credit cards to us as we were closing up the tab. The food is decent, but not outstanding. If you are going to the North End, I recommend going elsewhere."

"Awesome, old-school Italian restaurant. Off the beaten path, in that it's not on the "main drag" of Boston's North End, but having Paul Revere's house outside your front window is not exactly playing second fiddle to any other locale. We love their food, service and location as North Square is a quiet, hidden gem of an area. Our waiter Nelson was new to the restaurant but seemed like an old hand. And as usual, Riccardo's was quiet on the night we went, but yet the food was fresh and expertly prepared. And Richie the bartender made our Espresso Matinis (which we had in lieu of dessert) exactly as requested; not too creamy and a touch of extra espresso. Take a group, take your kids or take your spouse but Riccardo's will take care of you...."

"Great food and lovely setting. Only down side for whiskey drinkers was they did not have a full service bar. Ended the evening with a delicious complimentary cordial that I wish I found out what it was. Very good."

"Food was average, very quiet, at times we felt rushed as though they just wanted to close up. although our waiter was great. Atmosphere was nice enough. More than likely i would not go back. I would recommend it if nothing else was available and a reservations was needed for ItaLian food."
