*** NOW SERVING SUSHI TILL 2AM ON W-ENDS AND 1AM ON W-DAYS***
Fujimar is an Asian-Latino, nouveau cuisine restaurant serving ceviche, lobster, sushi and more. Chef Mendizabal’s dishes reflect the confluence of Asian and Latin cuisines in a menu that interprets how Asian immigrants to Latin America adapted their cuisine to the New World ingredients and Latin culture. Meat, seafood and produce are carefully selected to the highest standards highlighting their own true flavors and origin. In particular, Fujimar’s ceviche and sushi bar will feature unusual delicacies like Tasmanian King Salmon and Hapu’up’u. Bar chefs Ari and Micah Wilder designed Fujimar’s beverage program utilizing locally sourced and seasonal ingredients in drinks created using classic techniques. The wine list features imports produced by artisan winemakers, ranging from the mineral-laden Austrian Gruner Veltliner and German Rieslings to Cru Beaujolais and Priorat.
"I made a reservation for ten people for a birthday dinner over a week in advance. When we got there, there was no hostess at the front. We flagged down a busboy who told us he would find the hostess. She came over and told me they don't take large reservations for Monday nights (so why did you take mine?). They haven't updated their OpenTable account and didn't bother to contact me in the week that they had my reservation to let me make other plans. Luckily, it was a Monday, so we walked to another restaurant that sat us within ten minutes. But this place clearly doesn't have it together."

"Service was terrible. My party and I had to wait 30 minutes for some water and over an hour for food. It got to the point that we didn't want to wait anymore so we cancelled our order."

"Had an absolutely delightful dining experience at Fujimar, it was our first time at this restaurant during our Easter weekend visit to Washington DC. We ordered few dishes to share, including the scallops ceviche, grilled calamari, crab and tempura shrimp hand rools, the grilled brussel sprouts and beef empanadas. Every single dish was simply outstanding, wow! But hands don to the ceviche, w could have ordered every single ceviche dish from the menu, it was just out of this world!
The ambiance is trendy with a bar on both floors. Location is great if you need to get there via Metro, and prices are very readonabl. We will certainly go back, highly recommend it!"

"I had sushi and it was OK. Others in my party were very happy with a rice dish they ordered in common. Based on my experience I would probably choose a different restaurant for sushi. Despite that the service was very good."

"Never have I been to a place this bizarre. My girl friend and I got there and had a cocktail at the bar. The list was short (maybe 5 drinks) but good. My drink was great, I didn't like my dates, but she did and I suppose that is all that matters. We then we seated to eat. We were taken from this cool somewhat swanky area to the back room which I can only describe as a cafeteria. It was cold, unwelcoming and reminded me of the Roti where I sometimes eat lunch at work. This immediately put a damper on the evening. The sushi appetizer left no room for complaints, but it was by no means impressive. Next the main course, the most shocking part of the dinner, was EXCELLENT. I had steak, my date had salmon, we were both more than happy."

"In true fat kid foodie fashion, the two of us ordered: brussel sprouts (too oily!), sweet potato fries (outstanding, but will pass next time because a place like this should have a dipping sauce that makes you drool for more), 2 sushi rolls (amazing!), sliders (generously sized, spicy and yummy), and the Yuzu mojitos (which were just "meh"). The bartender was nice-not particularly engaging or attentive, but was the only one behind the bar so perhaps just busy. Saw a lot of staff just standing around. Host at the entrance downstairs was great! Greeted us, took our coats, and showed us upstairs all with a great smile and pleasant, welcoming demeanor. Definitely will be back. This place is unique, and hoping to be wowed by service next time."

"I was a bit turned off as soon as we sat down because, while there were plenty of free tables, they sat us right by a window. That night it was raining and barely above freezing. There was a draft and I was feeling cold, so I asked the server if we could switch tables. She looked at me confused and then reached across the table, holding her hand near the window, to see if she could feel anything. The gesture made it seem as if she thought I was making it up which annoyed both me and my date. They seemed annoyed to move us to a different table. I was not impressed at all from my experience that night which is a shame."

"The quality of the food didn't nearly meet up to how much they charge, but we went for brunch and had a good time. Didn't get to enjoy outside area, as it was mid-February, but the inside decor was nice and the wait staff for the most part were friendly. It was a nice place for a day-date."

"Went there on valentines day after booking reservations through opentable.com. After being seated, learned that they were only serving off of their pirx fixe menu, with no options but the prix fixe. Service was slow but polite. Crab did not taste fresh. Steak was a bit over cooked but its sauce was good. Ceviche and lobster were good. Overall quality and experience was not as good as when fujimar was lima. One of the street lights was shining in my eyes through the window and i had to move to a different seat."

"Went here for Valentine's Day. Had an 8:15 reservation. Had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to become ready. No biggie. Im not familiar with much Asian food, so I hesitate to penalize it when I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, but it wasn't that great to me. Sushi, lobster, and filet mignon were good. Chocolate souffle wasn't good. Lastly, the restaurant charged me 20 percent gratuity for only 2 people. I am assuming this was because it was valentines day, but it made me upset because I was going to tip 20 percent anyway, and it made me look like I wasn't tipping at all. Both my gf and I were not impressed but Id say try it."

"The quality of the food was excellent and I haven't had a tuna ceviche of that caliber in this town. I highly recommend this culinary experience and will return!"
