"We enjoyed our dinner at Plates. We started with a delicious gazpacho and a spinach/beet salad. Both were very fresh and enjoyable. For our main dishes we had scallops and the pork chop. Both were prepared perfectly. With no room for dessert we said next time we have to save room, all the desserts sounded wonderful. Nice intimate setting, good food and good service. We will return."

"Seriously jaded west coast chef (me) in town for brothers wedding. I had low expectations being in the burbs and all. This place is awesome! Felt like being at a great dinner party. Servers, bartender and manager treated us like old friends. Music was great, wine list very cool, menu is confident (and funny) food delivers, would've liked to meet this chef. Next time."

"I am a huge Plates fan and have never had anything but love for their food. However, on my most recent trip, the food runners--normally stellar--seemed to be a tad bit flustered. First, the runner didn't know who ordered what, he forgot to bring appropriate utensils for our dishes and then brought out an ice cream dessert that was significantly melted. While these issues are small, I've never experienced anything like this before at Plates and am chocking it up to Mother's Day brunch being a packed house."

"overall we liked Plates, but we were a bit frustrated initially as we had to wait 45 ' for our table reserved at 8:30 pm...We were told a short wait and did not order any drinks to wait when we should have.
The food was very good, and they made it up ti us with a free desert.
They should just not book tables so close to the previous reservation.
Nobody wants to be rushed when having a good meal."

"Friends brought us last week for happy hour and it was so fun and the food so good we had to come again for the full dinner experience. We were not disappointed. Best restaurant we've tried in westshester and we've tried most of them. Menu is a mix of innovative and comfortable and every thing we ordered was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Wines by the glass were great and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. The staff really seems happy and proud of their restauraunt and it comes across to the guest. All around great experience."

"I went here with a friend and it was a nice place to catch up, but not exactly what we were looking for as we felt we had to be whispering the whole time. The food wasn't as great as I expected (lacked flavor) and it was unfortunate to spend so much on dinner when the food wasn't satisfying. The service is phenomenal as they are very attentive and accommodating. The patrons are elderly, so if you are looking for a place to make it your own with your friends go elsewhere."

"Let me start by saying we had to wait 1/2 hour for our table. When we finally sat down at 9PM, one of the specials was already sold out. Plates is incredibly over priced. There is not a bottle of wine on the menu that lists for less than $50.00. There is only one appetizer that is less than $14. The biggest bargain and our best course was dessert, while not incredibly inventive, was delicious. The food does not warrant these prices. The service was terrible, we had to hunt down our waiter for dessert. I will not be going back"

"We visited several places during Restaurant Week. Plates made the weakest effort at the $29.95 special menu, using cheap ingredients cooked in unimaginative ways (corned beef hash burger - really!!! doughnuts for the dessert - really!!!). The best places use Restaurant Week to showcase how well their kitchens can make something special. It felt like the objective at Plates was to maintain the same profit margin on the $29.95 menu as on the higher-priced regular menu items. Speaking of the regular menu, here's my quick take: premium prices, good (not great) food, and good service, if a bit pretentious at times."

"We live very close to Plates, and so were delighted to find it so charming and enjoyable. Our server, though young, could not have been better. Fodd is well-prepared, good, not run-of-the-mill. Drinks are excellent; I am not a wine-drinker, so can't comment on the wine list. And there is an excellent "special deal" offered every day before six thirty: any appetizer and entree for $30. Restaurant is also very pretty, and is not noisy, which is hard to find these days. We will happily return."

"It is a restaurant's prerogative to run promotions as it sees fit. During Restaurant Week in Fall 2012, Plates had no set RW menu - you could choose any app/entree/dessert from the main menu. Plates allowed diners to combine the RW deal with its own Wed. no-corkage-fee deal. That combination was unbeatable.
For 2013, Plates changed its policy on both. 1st, Plates set a more typical menu with only 3 or so choices for app/entree/dessert. 2nd, Plates made me choose between paying $25 for corkage or getting the RW deal.
A large component of hospitality is managing expectations. After last Fall I expected to see the same great bargain, but Plates took it away. The food was still very good, but my high hopes for another bargain were dashed"

"We frequent Plates often and it was the first time we sat at the top of the stairs at a 4 top. It happened to be lightly snowing and the ambiance of watching the snow sparkle outside the window along with the wonderful food made for a top-rated evening."

"Excellent dinner. The servers at this caliber restaurant should do 3 things to upgrade their service to the level deserved by the wonderful food:
- shirts shd be crisper for a more professional appearance. They did not appear fresh and clean.
- we shd not have to ask for bread, and the server shd mention what the spread is when placed on the table
- when a diner has a pasta dish, they should be offered fresh pepper and grated cheese, they should not have to ask.
Because the food is excellent, we will return."

"I have never had a bad meal at Plates. The food is fresh, imaginative, and portions are just right. The service is excellent and the ambience is casual yet romantic. I don't know how they do it, but they do it right. Despite having only 2 high chairs, there were several families earlier in the evening. I would love to come back without the kids one night for the happy hour at the bar - $1 oysters, half price appetizers, and perfectly poured cocktails!"

"This place is a gem; the menu is great my daughter loves gnocchi and she said Plates has the best. Tha flavors are combined in a clever way.the service is wonderful. We plan to come back and taste the rest of the dishes."

"Very disappointing! Waited for 45 mins past my reservation, was not offered a drink on the house and there was no bar food-no nuts, olives, nothing!
They ran out of the special fish, when I checked the menu online there were many fish choices but the menu that night had only one fish entree. There was no basic salad on the menu and nothing with fresh fruit for dessert. Service was fair, server forgot my tea and it was hard to get his attention as we were seated in a small area in the front. No one apologized for the wait, it was my husband's birthday, we did not have a good overall experience!"
