Tucked away between the bustling streets of New York and the beach scene of the Hamptons, Il Mulino New York’s Long Island location is a destination unto itself, the perfect place to relax and enjoy fine cuisine while escaping the city. Authentic Italian preparations and flawless technique turn the day’s freshest ingredients into unforgettable meals served with the impeccable attention that is an Il Mulino New York tradition.
"I would not go here on a weekend. It is very crowded and the tables around you can become quite noisy. There were several birthdays being celebrated, which is normally fine. The waiters were filling tumblers up two fingers with Scotch all around the table of six next to us. They were toasting loudly and arrogantly. The fancy restaurant became a loud sports bar. That table was not the only table doing it, unfortunately. It is the job of the manager to stop this kind of behavior, not condone it by letting the waiters fill up the glasses with even more alcohol! The drunker they get the louder they get and the more alcohol they buy, maybe that's the restaurants idea? Either way, I'll go someplace else unless it's a week night."

"We celebrated my birthday with the family, including my 3 year old grandson. Many of us at the table had the "Sunday Supper Special", and it was quite a good deal. The staff was very solicitous and friendly. A good time was had by all."

"What can I say that hasn't already been said about Il Mulino? You hear great things about a place, decide to try it out, and this restaurant did NOT disappoint. Took my wife Saturday night for our anniversary, and from the very moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Given a cozy table in a little nook of the restaurant. Fresh cheese and bread, salami, bruschetta. A cocktail. We were advised that the restaurant could do half-orders of any pasta as an appetizer, so we actually decided to get appetizers, then pasta, and THEN entrees. Everything we ate (from gnocchi to zucchini flowers to fish) was incredible. We even had dessert, paired with grappa. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. Wish we could afford to go back more often!"

"We have eaten here several times now. It seems the later it gets , the more energetic it gets, especially on Friday and Saturday night. The late crowd can be quite boisterous and noisy. People were celebrating birthdays and the alcohol at one large table was flowing. It is not a bar however, it is a restaurant! There was no attempt by management to quiet the very noisy table as a matter of fact they were bringing out the extra shots by the armload, laughing along with the customers. If you're looking for quiet, eat earlier or eat someplace else. The restaurant itself is very nice, the food and service is well above the rest. Too bad."

"I planned my wife's 35th birthday party here. They were able to accommodate 10 people. I reserved a amazing chocolate cake for our party. The service was excellent. My wife and I were very pleased with every detail. Thank you IL Mulino for making this special occasion perfect!"

"Haven't been to Il Mulino in a while but chose it for a nice 50th birthday celebration and it didn't disapoint. We were never rushed, food was great. We had Osso Bucco, a ravioli special, Chicken Parm, and a shrimp pasta. All were good. No appetizers as they give you so many great samples in the beginning while you have a cocktail. The service is as good as any restuarant I have been to. The complimentary grappa was a nice touch.
Need to come more often"

"When one chooses Il Mulino they can expect a staff that welcomes you, immediately starts offering high quality complimentary treats to start . fresh food served with bountiful tastes and at robust temperatures adding to that freshness/attention to detail and as your evening progresses the staff know how to give that privacy so you can enjoy the experience. Il Mulino always offers their best from start to finish."

"Both my dish and my wife's dish were sub par. My wife ordered veal rollatini and I ordered pollo frá Diavlo. My wife's dish was so gamey she could only choke down a few pieces. My dish was filled with fatty chewy chicken. The service on the other hand was great. You are never without a drink and the people that work there are very reserved and professional."

"The restaurant is nice for special occasions only. The price point is a little high for casual dinning. Very romantic atmosphere and food is delicious."

"Was not as exceptional as it was when I was last there 2 years ago. Tables were too close together and we were seated next to a large noisy table. The bread basket once left on the table was missing. Waiter now comes around with basket offering you a piece or two of bread. Service was not as attentive as previous visit. I was not the only person at my table that felt that way."

"The service was certainly top-notch, but the food was just okay. We had a relatively early reservation on a Saturday night. My wife wanted scallops - no scallops left (we were told this at the get-go). Okay, fine. Time to order: my wife will have the red snapper, and I'll have the osso bucco. "Sorry, but we're out of snapper. Oh, and is lamb osso bucco okay? We have no veal." The menu clearly said it was veal. Needless to say, at these prices and this early on a Saturday night (three other tables were seated when we arrived at 6:00), there is absolutely NO excuse to be out of particular items on the menu (some of which were specials)! It put a damper on the whole meal."

"Perhaps it was the wine but we did have a good time here despite how incredibly dark (needed a flashlight to read menus)and how outrageously crowded and tight the tables are situated. Unacceptably noisy. Food was ok but not what you would expect at those prices. Service was excellent. Probably will not return."

"My first visit to their Manhasset location was outstanding! The entire staff was polite, attentive and professional, including an excellent wine suggestion. Their menu has something for everyone, however, we ordered the specials which were among the best I've tasted. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation and definitely return."

"Food was great, wine list is in abundance but little expensive which is fine given the service. Their pre-appetizer collection which includes bread, cheese, egg plants and others are tasty, which are complimentary. They have valet parking available. Ambience is dim light, romantic and music kept to good to ears. We ordered two appetizers and two main course and dessert and loved them all. Getting here is easy by car especially for queens residents."

"Always an excellent restaurant, food ,service ambiance excellent. Went with my wife and 11 and 13 yr old grandchildren. My granddaughter rated the restaurant a 10 (out of 10) Thought the $20 glass of wine a little pricey, but the food is exceptional."

"Went on Valentines day here because I could not get into IL Mulino in the village (NYC). I went a few years ago and thought would try it again because the first time was not so good and would give it another chance. The waiters are RUDE RUDE RUDE....yes it was busy, but no excuse. We sat down and for 10 minutes no one even came over to ask if we wanted a drink. When the waiter finally came over to take our order, my GF asked some quesions about items on the menu (that you could not even read because it was so dark)and it was like pulling teeth to get an answer...and then he says. "if your not ready I have other tables to take orders from" and left! On top of it, the food was nowhere near as good as that of the city. Go to the city!"

"This restaurant is easily one of the best Italian restaurants on LI. We have eaten here several times. We received quite a few recommendations for this restaurant from family and friends. The staff pays attention to every detail. Depending on the night I would imagine walk ins are welcome but make reservations. The tables are set apart a bit for privacy which is nice and adds to the ambiance. Service is excellent, bread, cheese and a few other appetizers are brought to the table in succession. I, for one, enjoy that very much, it leads to a relaxing meal. Food is very, very good, no matter what you order. You pay a little more for the quantity and quality but the prices aren't that high. We enjoyed ourselves and will go back"
