Sava's
Sava"s Restaurant, originally Sava's State Street Cafe, opened June of '07 at a small location across from our current space on State. We started small, every year adding, changing, and working with our customers to achieve an atmosphere and menu that we were proud of. Little did we know a plan for a big name pharmacy to take over our building was in the works, so we went looking for a new home. The quaint cafe was merely a jumping off point for the elaborate expansion that later followed. In August of '09 we opened Sava's Restaurant in the beautiful location we're in today, making a name for ourselves based on great service, a young, welcoming atmosphere, & delicious dishes.
We cater to a wide range of clientele, including students, professors, townies, out-of-towners – we open our doors to everyone. From our eclectic menu our best dishes are homemade, with quality ingredients from local vendors. We like Michigan beef, produce, and beer! Join us and experience Sava's for yourself!

"Best brunch buffet I've ever had! The pastries were especially delicious and the staff is very attentive about keeping all the dishes full. Wide variety of dishes- homemade pop tarts, tortes, steak tips, spinach egg bake, smoked salmon...the list goes on."

"We were on a time constraint of about 1 hour and the food took way too long. We were at the restaurant for an hour and a half. One of the guests with me didn't get their food until the rest of us were almost done eating. The waitress didn't refill drinks and I had to track her down for a to go box."

"I can't say that my experience was subpar, nor excellent. It was a normal, metro area dining experience. It was very busy for a Wednesday I felt. We made a reservation for five and were seated immediately; however in the area of where food is taken to diners and the computers which was annoying. Our server would come to our table and say "I'll be with you in a moment" over and over while waiting to order our drinks. After getting our drinks things were much better. Food was great! My family was happy and we left full. I just will ask to not be seated where we were ever again."

"I've been to Sava's a number of times; most recently I had a work lunch that required space for a large group. Not only was the table ready when we arrived, but they were very accomodating when we needed to include additional guests beyond our reservation. We had a great experience and the food/drinks have always been great."

"I recently visited Sava's for lunch with a good friend. The food was excellent! I had a burger and sweet potato fries, my friend had brunch. Our server was pretty attentive overall, but the food took a long time to finally come out. Other than that, no complaints! Definitely a good place to come if you are looking for good food at a reasonable price close to campus."

"Savas is a restaurant I can always count on. Their menu has an array of dishes and prices, so if you do not want to spend over $25 on a main course, you can still get a generous salad or sandwich for around $10. Their wine list is not that fantastic to me, but their cocktails are great and so is their beer selection. I would highly recommend the steak and potato salad!"

"Sava's is a place I really want to like. I find the restaurant attractive, the atmosphere perfect for dinner before a show at The Ark or Hill Auditorium, and always an interesting beer or two on tap. My wife really enjoys the Chicken Fusilla, and ordered it the last two times we went. I did not care for the grilled cheese appetizer, and would avoid the 1/2 Chicken Marsala. Last week I had the Grouper special, which I thought was really good.
Servers were pleasant, but seemed a little stressed. They struggled with timing the appetizer, salads and entrees, and last time, forgot my salad entirely. Nonetheless, I will give it another try."

"As always, we had a great time at Sava's. The menu has a wide range of items, ranging from burgers and sandwiches to more serious meals. You might think the serious items suffer for this, but they are always excellent. When my sister was in town last year, we went there two days in a row, because we couldn't think of anywhere we liked better! I am especially fond of their small plates, particularly the risotto balls. The small and large greek salads are also wonderful. We reserved using open table and had zero wait time."

"We were in Ann Arbor for my daughter's college tour of U-M and we stayed at the Dalhman College Inn. I researched on the internet info about restaurants in area and chose Sava based on majority of reviews submitted.
We ordered the grown up cheese burger, bacon and brie burger, pecan crusted chicken sandwich and lamb shanks and they were all good but the lamb shanks especially super delicious! My oldest daughter ordered the lavender lemonade and was not pleased with flavor so Dasha our waitress took it back and put more lavender flavored syrup in it.
The only other negative side was my husband ordered a side of mashed potatos with the chx sandwich and it was dense in texture and bland in flavor, he should have said something but he didn"

"I made a reservation for five people on a Friday night at 5pm for a group of ladies specifically for happy hour and to order food. We were quickly informed that happy hour is only at the bar and had to speak to three different people to be able to order happy hour specials at our table. "While Ann Arbor has many restaurants with solid food, service is often an issue - especially speed of service. Sava's is a notable exception to the Ann Arbor service dilemma. Offering tasty comfort food with a variety of updates (vegetarian substitutes for traditional meat offerings, spices galore, fresh versus processed), Sava's is great for a long lunch or quick bite before or after a show at Hill Auditorium or a film at the State Theatre. The staff is friendly, fast and well-schooled on both the food and drink menus. Seating can accommodate large parties as well as a romantic dinner and the atmosphere is lively, if a bit loud. It's also one of the area's few mid-priced restaurants offering breakfast, lunch AND dinner - doing it well!"

"We had a great dinner, despite being seated around the corner from the door, which is very cold and drafty in the winter with people coming and going out the door. We had to put our coats around our shoulders during dinner. The waiter and the food made up for this inconveniece. The cocktails were inventive, and the wine list is both by the glass or bottle with good selection. The price is reasonable for well made food. We shared the artichoke dip, which was creamy and flavorful. One of us had the lamb shank, which was tender and properly spiced. Another had the mac'and cheese with lobster, which was the ultimate comfort food. We also had moule fritte with good quality mussles in a curry cream base. We highly recommend this restaurant"

"Sava's has become not only one of the best restaurants in the area but a true gem in Ann Arbor. Most of the time the food and service are fantastic. This is my second time this month eating lunch with 12 or more people. Both times the waiter did a nice job and separate checks were not a problem. In fact the biggest problem with eating here is deciding what to order. The choices are many and all sound mouth watering. Favorite entrees are the chicken pecan salad, fish tacos and huevos ranchero."
