"Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade and used to really enjoy this place. Since the change in personnel I don't think we shall return. It's not just the staff changes; my wife had the special, pork chop in sauce. Inedible, with a lump of unidentifiable gristle under the sauce.
They did apologize and comp the entrée, but no real effort to offer an alternative. Staff used to be excellent, they were not that busy for a Sat Night. It no longer seemed professional. Many, but not all, new staff seemed clueless.
Shame as our options in NE Georgia are dwindling fast. But for spending 3 figures on a meal for 2, with a bottle of wine, I’d rather have a great experience in Atlanta than a poor one here."

"5th or 6th time back - nice to be greeted by name as I walked from the parking lot. It is like family and the customers all are happy to be there, and sharing dining ideas with each other. Great to take out of town guests to, and I appreciate the emails with events and menu features. I especially appreciate the mutual support the LRH and the local farmers give each other."

"We have regularly driven an hour each way for what has been the best dinner in the No. Georgia/Western No. Carolina mountains. Thursday night (which should have been good, because that's the signature farmer's-menu) was an off night. Friendly but incompetent service (usually the wait staff is excellent), light bulbs not changed and drawn shades not even swiped clean), usually terrific crab cakes greasy. Perhaps Jamie, chief chef, was not there that night. The farmer's dishes were also not up to their usual excellence. We were particularly disappointed because we brought a couple of friends to introduce them to our favorite place."

"A quaint Hotel on beautiful Lake Rabun with a great Brunch available on Sat/Sun. If you want to order a bottle of sparkling wine, there is a good value Spanish variety for a great price (wait til 1230 on Sunday, tho). The brunch menu has several very nice selections, the food is excellent - well and freshly prepared, the amount of food is generous, and the prices are very reasonable given the setting. The Chef (Jamie Allred) is well known and featured in "Best Chefs of America." He uses a lot of ingredients from local farms and gardens in this area. If you are in Northeast Georgia and would like a nice dining experience - recommend you give it a try!"

"I hate to give this restaurant such a great rating, because it is hard to get reservations after 6:45 pm. Everytime we are in that area we go. It's a great place to take friends as well. During the summer, you will reservations at least two weeks in advance!"

"We are regular customers who are becoming a little disenchanted with the lack of good seating. This place seems to have a policy of filling up the worst tables first. We think every customer should be seated at the best table available no exceptions."

"We enjoyed our brunch at Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant. It was our first visit. The food was delicious; the service was attentive. The setting of the hotel and the ambience were lovely - nestled among trees above Lake Rabun, with a rustic but up to date feel inside. The only downside: The Mother's Day menu was not friendly to kids - a problem for a mother celebrating with her children. There was no kids' menu, and we were told no substitutions. We asked, however, if the hollandaise sauce could be left off of (but nothing added or otherwise changed to) our 7 year old son's poached eggs, ham and biscuit. The kitchen refused, and all came slathered with sauce. He didn't eat any of it; we all contributed food from our meals so he could eat."

"Wonderful place for a get away weekend lunch and dinner. It's a historic hotel with a comfortable dining area. The meals are excellent, using local products when possible. You must try the shrimp and grits! Our server, Jack, was attentive and very upbeat. We dine here as often as possible and are never disappointed. It's a very romantic place for that special person. We had a little private room that was perfect for conversation!"

"We requested the "bear painting" alcove because of noise in the past. It was very quiet and the food was delicious. I recommend "The Specials" All desserts are wonderful."

"Overall this was a lovely meal. The food was yummy and the service was very attentive. Two small dings...lots of servers in a very cramped space. It was a little distracting. Also, we sat right by the door to the porch dining area (wish we had requested the porch) and it was really too high traffic for a table."

"We had Brunch on Sunday 3-31 and WOW! Made the reservations for 4 of us and we are pleased we decided on eating here. We will be doing dinner here in the future as well as lunch. Food presentation, taste, temperature, quality, along with friendly prompt service, ambiance and view were all excellent. I see why the reviews put the Lake Rabun Hotel Restaurant in the top 6 in Georgia."

"We stopped in for lunch on a cold and dreary Sunday afternoon. The great service and excellent food were the perfect pick-me-up. We started with the delicious fried green tomatoes with grits and ham gravy. The tomatoes were perfectly fried--crisp, not greasy, and the grits and ham gravy were a bonus. Our burger was cooked to perfection--excellent beef, applewood bacon and pimento cheese and huge amount of perfect hand cut fries seasoned just right. We saved the best for last and enjoyed the best Monte Cristo I've ever had. Slightly salty lean ham and turkey, bacon and swiss, fried to golden crisp perfection in a beignet-like batter, topped with fresh strawberry rhubarb jam. Messy nirvana!"

"I never answer these reviews, so you know this was a special restaurant. We had never gone to the Rabun Hotel but friends recommended eating there. So the 4 of us went to Sunday Brunch.
The experience was superior!! We were abit early, so the very nice hostess suggested we have tea/coffee by the fireplace. She and a nice young man served us very professionally and quickly. Lovely start...
Our waitress at our lunch was very efficient and friendly. Each of our dishes were most plentiful and cooked to perfection. I had the Vegetable Plate and the eggplant was soft yet the asparagus was crisp...perfect! All our dishes were delicious. Attentive service, watching out for our every needs.
We would recommend highly."

"A stellar dining experience, there is nothing like it in our area. Sadly, as summer approaches the limitation of reservations will make it difficult to dine there as often as we may like."
