Chef Marc Murphy's Ditch Plains offers fresh seafood and the best of beach dining - from oyster shooters and lobster rolls to a grilled fish of the day plus celebrated specialties such as the Ditch Dog (a hot dog smothered with mac & cheese), fish tacos, spicy Bloody Marys, a selection of beers on tap and the famously well-priced wine program that Murphy is so well known for.
"Too many children! This is a neighborhood place that caters to young families. The room got better as the hour got later -- by 9 pm or so, it's fine, but before that it's Kids Central. One very annoying quirk: No wines by the glass!!! Only half bottles available! It's a way to get people drinking more (and paying more), but I find it pretentious and not very consumer-friendly. I mean, is it really impossible to pour a GLASS of wine?"

"Went with a group of ten, one kid in a highchair. Everyone loved the food and the service was great form the moment we walked in the door. Our server even mentioned that we should get our order in before another large table was about to. The only reason they don't get five stars is because my toddler's food, which I asked when I ordered it that it be brought out right away, didn't come until the rest of the entrees, and the chicken was rubbery as if it'd been sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Honest mistake, they were packed. Otherwise, love this place, highly recommend it!"

"I love Landmarc, so I wanted to try Ditch Plains -- our waiter was terrific, really good wine list, the sangria was awesome too. Jalapeno and cheddar tots were very tasty as were the oysters. I got the special tacos, lump crab, and they were pretty good but nothing super spectacular. I tasted my friend's fish and chips, terrific. Overall, really good spot."

"Went to Ditch Plains for brunch based off of a friends recommendation...
Sat down and didn't see a waiter for about 15 minutes. Finally, he brought us menus and again we didn't see him for 15 minutes. We were missing sliver ware and water glasses and it was a nightmare trying to get the waiters attention... he kept going to the same four table multiple times and never looking over at out table.
Basically waited 1/2 hour to get our order in. 15 more minutes to get our drinks. 30 more minutes to get apps. 30 more minutes to get our meals - meals were luke warm and overpriced.
We started eating at 1p and didn't get the check until 3:30p.
This was quite possibly the worst eating experience I've had in NYC. Pretty sad."

"A pleasant, friendly place, and good for kids (high chairs, room for strollers at the front, TVs at the tables though they only play Dora, sports, or *Endless Summer*). But the food we found sort of average, though fresh and well prepared, and served in quite small portions. And the prices were a bit high given that."

"Occupying a great space on the UWS, now setup to feel open and have a Surfer theme Ditch Plains is setup for group, large group and families eating together. Extensive menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch items with a nice list of beers and wine by half bottle and bottle. Given it's open and given to large family and group hosting the noise level is elevated but you can hold a conversation over your meal without needing to raise your voice. Seafood is fresh and excellent, great lobster roll"
