"We tried La Pentola for the first time on Mother's Day and it couldn't have been better. Our server was incredible from start to finish, making great recommendations throughout. We did the 7 course family style menu which allowed us 3 appetizers, 2 pastas, a meat and a dessert. Each course was different and equally delicious. The room was warm, friendly and comfortable. I would go back here in a heart beat and not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else."

"Decent food, but not spectacular. Having been to la Quercia a number of times and loved it (can't say enough great things about that place)......this didn't live up to expectations. I'll pop by for a drink, but not dinner."

"I read the reviews from a number of sources before booking a group table for my wife's birthday. To those who say it is too loud, you are way off base. We had a table for 6 in the middle of the restaurant and had no problem at all having conversations. We had the family style tasting menu and we were very impressed. We informed the sommelier which wines we planned to order and the chefs did us a 7 course meal to go with the wines. We had no idea what to expect and each course was creative, perfectly cooked and falvorful. At $55 per person for the food, it was a great deal. The service and food were both excellent, and all 6 people in our party said that for sure they would go back again."

"We've eaten at La Quercia's Kitsilano location many times and have just now gotten around to trying La Pentola. The co-owners have split duties with one at the helm in each location. The atmosphere was lively, but quiet enough to allow for civilized conversation. The staff were professional, attentive, and friendly. The menu is very similar to La Quercia, with the same "la famiglia" options for family-style, multi-course sharing. Everything was delicious. The wine list had a nice selection of BC and Italian wines (~$45 and up). They've done a great job of revitalizing Italian dining in Vancouver!"

"I was here with my party of 7 (including me) for my birthday dinner and it explicitly stated on open table that an 18% gratuity will be added to a party of 8 and more. I was a little disappointed to find that only was there an automatic 18% gratuity charge on our bill but more importantly that the service was not even near deserving of that amount of gratuity. The fact that we had to "ask our server to clear the table" says it all."

"Food was good but my husband thought his pork was underdone. Noise level too high for conversation. The restaurant appears to be catering to larger groups; the music is lound and the groups are shouting over the music making it impossible for a couple looking for a more intimate evening to hear themselves speak. Service a little overdone, pressured, rushed...replacing wine before the first glass is gone, removing plate as soon as the last bite is taken gives a feeling of moving you through like a production line, not a relaxing meal to enjoy."

"Very noisy large group behind us. There is not much here to muffle noise so it was distracting to our table and the visit we wanted to have. Wine list was limited. We also requested a 'quieter corner' and did not get it."

"This was our second time here. We had the 7 course chef's menu which was not on the printed menu. Brilliantly done and well paced. The staff are knowledgeable and professional with just the right amount of 'friendly.' We will certainly be back."

"A group of (4) of us were there Brunch last Sunday. We found the service slow and spotty. We had to ask for fresh coffee after it being served it luke warm. The restaurant wasn't very busy and when we finally did get our order the presentation was not very appealing. the food was however adequate but not to the standard of most Vancouver brunch restaurants including the previous restaurant at this location. Overall we were somewhat disapointed."

"The menu is very focused, as is the excellent wine list. We opted for one of the fixed menus, which gives you a selection of items off the regular menu. This was not only a more interesting way to eat (you don't know what you;'re getting), but also much more cost effective. Each dish was excellent, and the pacing of the evening could not have been better. I have not had a meal this good in a long time. The renovated room is not quite as interesting as in the old days when it was a French restaurant, but it has a much more modern appeal. The staff are excellent, there when you need them, gone when you don't. Some may complain of the lack of BC wines on the list, but what they have are excellent (Oulus for $110 is a bargain). Highly recommend"

"Although saddened by the Bagna Cauda salad coming off the list I have to say that the Souffle appetizer is AMAZING! Had the Lumache pasta this time and my colleagues all had lasagna. Perfectly done! The new wine list is great too. Our office is on the same block and this is a lovely treat for us at lunch. Pricing is decent too and service is top notch."

"My wife and I enjoyed our dining experience but we were not "wow'd" with the food. It's not that it wasn't good, but i was expecting more flavor to the food. The menu variety was great, although difficult to know what a lot of the menu items were if you dont have a great knowledge of Italian fare.
I would recommend others to try it to see what they think, but I won't revisit for a year or so and then see how it is."

"Group of 5 of us went there for my brothers birthday, let them choose the food for you, it's an option, and you will have one of the best meals this city has to offer, it was exceptional. Service was a bit slow at the beginning, waited awhile to be greeted and to have our order taken, but I think they were perhaps a bit short staffed, we did make our reservation last minute too, means you lose your right to complain. anywAys, he made good at he end, my brother has allergies that they worked around, which is never say. Need to go back and try the porchetta"

"La Pentola della Quercia is a great place for lunch. I like that it opens until 3pm because it suites those of us that wake up late on the weekends. The Bucatini all'Amatriciana, Souffle di Parmigiano, and Rapini were excellent. The Lemon Creme dessert was amazing."

"Overall experience was positive with good service and excellent martinis. Souffle di parmigiano, zucchini crudo and Cauliflower, endive, bagna cauda, parmigiano were excellent. Cannot recommend the osso bucco, dry and flavourless. Advised the restuarant by e-mail but they did not respond."

"I notice that this is the third incarnation for this spot in the two years that I've been in Vancouver. With the familiar name of Quercia involved, I'm hoping La Pentola della Quercia has some staying power. The decor is more subdued & modern than its kitschy predecessors. The service was friendly and attentive (they were patient as my dining guest was running late). I only had the kale and ricotta lasagna. Although it looked dwarfed in its dish, it was delicious and ample for a lunchtime meal (it would have looked better and less lonely in the dish with a few salad greens and decoration). I looked forward to visiting the restaurant's sister, La Quercia. La Pentola was a good introduction."

"This was our first visit here. We have been to La Quercia many times, and the food here is certainly comparable. We enjoyed the broad menu options available that allowed us to share some menu items. We had a wonderful meal celebrating a special occasion. Of particular note is the excellent wine list, with mark ups far below what one might expect..a wonderful surprise!"

"I have returned three times in two weeks just to make sure it is really as good as my first experience. Every meal has been a taste of heaven. For dinner, there were four of us each time so we have tasted many of the items. My husband loves their bone marrow appetiser and on one occassion had trout and on the second reluctantly tried the polenta Gnocchi and LOVED it. I have also started with the simple but delightfully fresh salad with oil and vinegar to start. The other mains that we have tried are Osso Bucco and two different styles of Black Cod, both just melted in your mouth. Any person who has not tried either the Lemon Cream or Citrus Consumee desserts, needs to go back!"

"Our server was amazing. She was warm and personable and gave us lots of attention, without being too much. She was adorable and was able to get a sense of the type of table we were, and catered to that. An absolute professional. Well done on hiring great staff. The food was very good as well - heavy, but good. I would recommend however that they serve fresh bread at the table vs. a somewhat stale baguette. Little details make the difference between very good, and outstanding dining."

"I travel to Vancouver routinely, enjoy the diversity of great restaurants available and am a big fan of La Quercia on West 4th so coupled with the positive reviews on Opentable had high expectations.
It took 3 tries and 45 minutes to finally find a bottle of wine that was stocked.
The service was consistently slow... and the food did not reach the level of expectations I had hoped for.
It is the first time I have had tough Osso Bucco. Perhaps it was an off night, but I won't be back."

"Went with 4 other friends-oddly enough had heard good reviews about the service, but we obviously hit an off night. Had to flag down our server for drink orders and she did not offer up any recommends or descriptions of the menu. They didn't have the first bottle of wine we ordered, but came through on the chianti. Burrata & souffle appetizers were delicious (minus the pickled veg on the burrata-I'm not a huge fan and thought it could have been paired better). Pasta entrees had good flavor and were cooked perfectly (although a bit cold). Dessert was delicious all around. Best part of the evening was the bill-it was very reasonably priced for the quality. Would I go back-yes-would I say its the best-no, but definitely will be on the radar."

"Due to the restaurant being almost at basement level be sure to ask for a table away from the windows as the car head lights can shine right in your eyes.
The souffle was outstanding but the rest of the food was not up to La Quercia standard."
