Murray Hill embodies the spirit of New York City. A seemingly endless number of lifestyles and cultures live and work within its blocks. The area has a youthful energy that can be felt in the bars and restaurants that dot the neighborhood. But for everything Murray Hill has, until recently it lacked something. Teqa is the missing piece of the Murray Hill nightlife puzzle. A taquería and tequila bar that captures the electricity of the city, Teqa is built for the neighborhood it's proud to call home and serves modern and traditional Mexican cuisine that draws from influences around the globe, in an atmosphere featuring traditional and contemporary elements of Mexican style, with furnishings influenced by cultures that have shaped the 500-year-long history of tequila.
"We tried for three weeks to get arable during prime hours, and finally on Mother'sDay Day we scored! My steak couldn't have been better. Our side dishes were excellent and the cocktails with house made fruit concoctions so yummy!"

"Tacos and drinks were delicious and portioned perfectly! Crispy oyster appetizer disappointing in terms of quality of oyster, but the rest of the meal and our fabulous waitress more than made up for it! Been twice and looking forward to returning."

"We loved the food and service (although a visit from the manager who was just hanging out with the hostess would have been welcome). Thumping "house" music made it almost impossible to have a conversation; but maybe I am just getting too old for loud music [sigh]?!?!?!? My only food-related complaint is my churros (for dessert); it came with a half-a-smidgen of dried-out dulce-de-delche - I told the waitress, the second serving was just as smidgeny and just as dry. But in all, I would recommend it (but not for a romantic date)."

"Although we enjoyed the food very much, the service was sub-par. We sat for a good 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Then, after we got one round of drinks and one of our appetizers, we sat for another hour until I found our waiter and complained. Apparently, they were out of the other appetizer, but no one had bothered to tell us. The hostess and our server did their best to take care of us, after this, but the experience was past recovery. The manager on duty never visited our table."

"My boyfriend chose this place, based on a good experience there a year ago. The restaurant has gone downhill. Service was odd- someone tried to clear our table while we were still eating. The tacos were smaller than they used to be. The octopus appetizer was tiny, and the spaghetti squash that came with it was totally tasteless. Very disappointing."

"This was my first time here and I will say all the food we had was really good!! Especially delicious were the BBQ braised short rib tacos and the tacos de papa (potato tacos). We also had the Ghetto tacos which weren't as good as the others, but still tasty. The drunken oyster appetizer was refreshing and good, and the tuna on crack was quite delicious (I would probably order that again before the drunken tacos). The margaritas here are probably some of the best I have ever had - probably because they don't use any margarita mix so everything tastes so fresh. We tried the Tommy's and the Rose & Hibiscus margaritas. Both were quite delicious!! I will definitely be back!"

"Was expecting a lil more action going on for a Sunday Brunch on St. Patrick's Day but it was a nice and quiet experience with great food and drinks. Did not disappoint."

"Went to Tequa with a group of 8. Service was excellent and wonderful margarita's and tequila. Our server was great and very attentive and everyone enjoyed themselves. This bar is especially great if you love and would like to try different types of tequila. I would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again."

"The drinks are awesome, and they have some good happy hour deals. Outside of that, the food is not very good. Went last weekend and ordered the chicken tacos. The chicken was either not cooked or just rubbery. I wanted to swap my dish but the waiter took it back before asking what I wanted to do. He then brought back the same exact dish 5 minutes later and again walked away quickly. So i had to call him back over to let him know it was the same and I didn't want it. By that point my friends were almost finished and I didn't have enough time to order more before the concert we were going to. Only as we were walking out the door did the manager stop us to apologize for what happened. No plans to go back."

"I've been going to this restaurant since they opened and the quality has remained good but you're getting charged the same amount for smaller portions. My party made similar remarks. Sadly I'm not sure if they will want to go back."

"I loved the cozy, relaxed feel of this place. I went for dinner with two of my girlfriends and sat in a cozy corner table. The ambiance was perfect- very laid back and cool. I had BBQ chicken tacos, and my friends had pollo asado tacos and tuna on crack. We all very much enjoyed our food! Absolutely delicious and the perfect portion too! It was my second time here, and will definitely not be my last!"

"We had such a lovely time at Teqa. We chose it based on proximity to a show we were going to at the Cutting Room and it was just what we were looking for. Cool, unique, a little sexy with a great menu of interesting food. We started with Milagro Resposado Margaritas, which were awesome and the chips and salsa - SO GOOD! I had the fish tacos and tortilla soup. The fish tacos were the best I've ever had and the soup was rich, cheesy and yummy. My husband had the short ribs with the corn and he loved every bite. To make things even better, our server was outstanding. She was smart, efficient, knowledgeable and very pleasant!! A lovely evening and I can recommend Teqa to everyone."
