Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.
"We were traveling from the US and looking for a Montreal bistro - our hotel recommended this and it was great! The food was delicious, the service friendly, and the vibe exciting. The braised beef was delicious!"

"Dominion Sqare Tavern has quickly become my favorite downtown spot. From home-made Ginger Ale in the Rye and Ginger to the old-fashioned-styled with a modern twist fare, DST provides an experience fit for financiers and hipsters alike. DST is a nod to Montreal's heyday with modern sensibilities. The tavern should be required visiting for anyone in Montreal."

"The top notch cocktails are always a great start to a fine meal at the Dominion. As tempting as the regular menu always is, I advise you to ask about the specials (apoetizer and main course); you might be peasantly surprised by what is being offered.
A great place for a small group of friends or an intimate twosome in this adults only venue. The wine list is always original and the waitress or waiter is knowlegeable and able to make great pairing recommendations."

"I have been to Tavern Square Dominion a few times. The endive salad, beet salad and salmon & blini is the perfect trio to share "à deux"! The service is always very good... relaxed yet professional and attentive."

"Great pre-habs game location. The food was excellent - we had the mussels cooked in broth of cider and bacon! The sticky toffee pudding was a bit more well done than traditionally served, but came with a really refreshing scoop of coffee flavored ice cream, so overall great!
The wine list was extensive, but we kept to the cocktails and beer/cider. The drinks prices were on the high side, but tasted great, used premium ingredients and came quickly!"

"Discovered on Montreal divas blog. It was exactly as they described. The ambiance was supreme. The menu and food met our expectations. The roasted cod was the best cod I have had outside of Newfoundland. The portion sizes were just right - not too large. Definitely quality over quantity. We met an old friend for dinner and were able to have a great discussion. The server did not rush us and this made for memorable evening. We will go back next time we are in Montreal."

"Lovely throw back atmosphere. Casual but hip dining. Unfussy food well prepared. Sunday roast just like mom or grandma might make. Pleasant atmosphere day or night. Gastropub you wish was around the corner."

"Un peu cher pour ce que c'est (2 entrée, un menu du jour et un plat à la carte avec deux bières et deux verres de vin, 2 dessert et un thé: 150$) pour le dîner."

"Heart of downtown Montreal, beautifully restored last century tavern serves well prepared dishes. Parking next door makes the location very convenient. Limited menu, English pub fare with a flair. Good wine list. Extensive cocktail list. Very noisy when the place gets packed, which would be most weekend nights. Would go back."

"Can be a little noisy. Certainly on the hot spot list, since for each of the two times I've had lunch there I saw local actors. Food reminding me of the one found at British pubs, i.e. not leaning on light choices."

"Great cocktail list with homemade tonic and lemonade to mix. Traditional dishes executed perfectly. Old school digs with but by no means dated. Lively ambiance reminiscent of a Parisian bistro in a London hotel...Recommend highly."

"Nous sommes allés en groupe vendredi pour savourez le fish and chips au menu. C'est certes un des meilleurs qui se sert dans bien grand. Notamment, la panure sur le poisson était légère et n'en masquait pas le goût. Il y a quelques semaines, nous nous étions aussi rendus en groupe pour la côte de boeuf du dimanche soir. Encore là ce fut une expérience mémorable autant du côté de la nourriture que de la réception. Mon épouse et moi fréquentons ce restaurant régulièrement."

"Great atmosphere with unique old-school ambiance. We had a 60’s style upscale dining experience. Such a cool niche spot for a romantic date night. Loved the steak – both my date and I had them perfectly made to our tastes. Perfect portion sizes and realistic prices for an upscale restaurant. The cheesecake for dessert was the perfect end to our meal, creamy and sweet. Our server was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to any friends visiting Montréal. We visited from Toronto and I’m very glad that I made a reservation here, my boyfriend made the comment that he wished he knew of a similar place to dine in Toronto."

"Dining on Sunday, February 10th. Relatively empty at the time (around 6:30pm). Service was friendly and efficient but slightly inattentive; we had to ask for glasses of water (none were provided) and drink refills. Food was great, as always (old-school pub classics: I had the Sunday Roast which was perfect). I had asked to be seated somewhere away from loudspeakers as I was dining with my dad who wears double hearing aids, but we can't really escape the sound system unless you're seated outside in summertime. The music when we arrived was very noisy techno but then segued into more acceptable classic rock, but was still a tad on the loud side. (On a busy night, the restaurant can get pretty noisy anyway)."

Minor gripes (really quite minor) was that the Pimms cup was a bit weak (I sometimes beef it up with a dash of gin) and the bangers and mash was not quite hot enough.
If your are around St Catherine, this is one of the best choices."

"We really liked the food and atmosphere here. The lighting and ambiance was perfect, 30's themed and beautiful. The food, though a bit pricey, was super yummy! However, our waitress Chloe was so bad it kind of ruined the rest of it for us! She was very snooty, and made us feel like we were not cool enough for her service. She ignored us at every chance she could (putting her back to us ,seemingly purposefully, when talking to the tables next to us, avoiding eye contact etc). I must say the hostess was incredible and came over at least twice when he saw we needed something and were being ignored. I don't know why she hated us so much from the start?! We were smiling and warm to her. Everyone else that served us seemed polite and professional"

"Belle ambiance dans une salle qui respire la tradition mais avec une foule plutôt jeune et dynamique. La cuisine est bien exécuté mais un peu lourde. Ce n'est pas une critique, c'est tout à fait dans le concept/style du lieu.
Peut-être un peu cher, quand même.
J'y retournerais."

"One of the best dining experiences I have had in Montreal, and this is a city with no shortage of excellent restaurants. It was the perfect place to get away from the -27c weather and enjoy a cozy dinner with good friends."
