"Have been here many times before, and looked forward to coming for Restaurant Week. Not sure if it was just because they overbooked, or because his talented chefs are now at their new restaurant, but it was definitely not up to par. My boyfriend ordered the split pea soup, which was thin and lime green in color as well as tasteless. He sent it back for mozzerella and tomato, and was brought a salad instead. I had the lobster spring rolls which were good but sparse. His entree, the bolognese, was tasteless as well. Also- they crammed the tables on top of one another. I had to move my table to let the people next to me into their seats. Quite different from my previous experiences at this restaurant, and I won't be back!"

"Had been here once before in another restaurant life this time took advantage of the wekly special: Chicken cordo bleu and Mahi 3 COURSE MEAL it was very good. I would have liked a little more spirited stuffing in my chicken (speck and gruyere a little light) and my wife would have liked a bit more spice in the blackened Mahi. They have a good handle on their cooking and food quality and the service follow up across the board was spot on.
Very varied menu wiorth a return trip, Gary.."

"Love to come to Locust Valley to The Brass Rail, what .a great find. We come from Farmingdale, wish it was closer, but well worth the ride. We have been there many, many times for dinner and special family occasions. Wed night it was for our birthdays and Mothers Day, we had Robbi as a server, very sweet, professional and put a birthday candle in dessert, without asking, sweet! Would highly recommend to everyone, and have. It was noises because a very large group came in that couldn't all be sat int he bar area, but we didn't mind, it was fun! See you again soon, The Wilson's. This place is so busy, if you want a romantic dinner come early!!!"

"Ate at the Brass Rail early on a Friday night. From the street, it doesn't look like much but the ambiance and decor inside are terrific if a little small. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The menu has lots of wonderful choices, including small bites and full entrees. Our meals (both steak dishes) were terrific--the food here is excellent. By the time we left, the place was hopping--very crowded with a lively bar scene upfront. Highly recommended."

"Have been to Brass Rail more than a half dozen times and each time we go we reminded as to why we love this retaurant. Great service, great foood and great ambiance. Tables are not on top of eachother, you can actually have conversations and are able to hear eachother and great round table so everyone is a part of the conversation. This last time I asked the waiter if the bartender could make me a jalepeno margarita which was not on the menu, he told me no problem they actually have the fresh jalepenos and the drink was amazing. Any special requests or changes to dishes were met perfectly and with a smile."

"First time here. Loved the food!! We were 5 people and we all thoroughly loved what we ordered. Would have preferred to sit in the back room but the round table we had by the bar was fine. Will definitely go back."

"My husband and I haven eaten at the Brass Rail on the average of once a week for the past few years. Our last experience was not what we have come to expect. We had a different server who was lovely however when we got the bill there was what we felt to be an over charge. When we told the waitress about it she referred it to the restaurant manager whom was unfamiliar to us. She insisted that we had not been overcharged, but then proceeded to tell us that she would take off the charge for " this time.". How insulting!! Brass Rail will no longer be on our short list of favorite restaurants."

"This was my first time dinning at the Brass Rail & I was suprised at the quality of the food. The lobster bisque had real chunks of lobster & was served in a large soap tureen. The ceasar salad was large enough to split & the addition of ham was a nice touch. The skirt steak was probably the best I have ever eaten. I was 2 full 4 desert but they looked great."

"My family and I enjoyed our experience at the Brass Rail. We thought the prices were reasonable and the food delicious. Service was good although the table we dined at was too busy with staff walking by delivering food all night due to its location near the kitchen. However, it will not deter us from going back if I can sit on the other side of the room."

"Love this restaurant. Small and intimate and great vibes. The food is always consistent. It's a home away from home. Small plates are great. Just a wonderful place to dine."

"When I was called to confirm the reservation for valentines day, I was told besides a regular menu there would also be a priix fix menu. When we sat down there was only one menu the prix fix valentine menu and no prices on what it would cost per person. I don't eat lobster there were no substitutions on the appetizer. We ordered stake that my wife could not eat because of the pepper. I spent $212.00 and the meal was very disappointing. In the past the restaurant has always been great but for this special occasion we were not happy at all"

"Terrible. We did not stay. I asked for a private/quiet table. We were squished on a little table next to a family with 2 young children. There was a couple there who had a table for four. I asked if we could have a table for four (there was one available). They said no. I dont think they were really interested in our business"
