Temple Gourmet Chinese serves gourmet Chinese specialties in a fine dining atmosphere. Perusing the mouth-watering menu will be just the beginning of your experience. The design of the space is visually stunning and the service attitude is a welcome change to Chinese dining.
Temple Restaurant is also committed to being a socially responsible business. The owner is devoted to contributing to the welfare of society especially the local community and not solely to maximizing profit. The concept is to feel good about a restaurant you would visit anyway.
"A party of 4, got stuck at a table meant for 2 to 3, next to the kitchen. Place was loud. I tried to get a different table, none were available. After our appetizers were delivered, I asked for another table. Was very unhappy. No manager ever come to speak to me. Finally got a larger table. When finished, we asked very specifically if they would pack the remainder of daughters meal to go including the tortilla & if they could include the prune sauce also. When My daughter went to eat the leftovers the next day she got upset when she found that neither were packed to go as we asked and were assured would occur. Lousy service is all I can imagine."

"The food is constantly good. The Service Staff are very accommodating. If you would rather have an item on the menu mild and not spicey the chef will prepare it that way."

"Everything was great. The food was outstanding, always is. Two things this time though. We were only half-way through our appetizers and our main dishes came out, so we had to send them back to the kitchen to wait... Then when we got home, we realized that half of the food we were supposed to take home was not packed. Disappointing because we paid for it AND because I would have loved to finish it!"

"There were four of us for a Saturday night dinner. My wife and I had eaten at Temple when it first opened. Major renovations since then opened increased capacity, added a bar... nicely done. Moving the reception to the bar area helps. However, it is dark in the interior of the restaurant. Still quite noisy. Service was great! We loved the mixed appetizers for 2; it's enough for 4 people. The other couple seemed to love their entrees (pepper steak and sesame shrimp). However, my wife and I would have liked more spice (velvet shrimp and kung pao scallops)."

"We were a party of four, I the only person who had been there before. The occasion was my brother's birthday, and he was more than impressed. He's a total foodie, and he was in heaven. Every appetizer and every meal was a gem.
We had a new waiter who was anxious to please and succeeded."

"The food was delicious.. Staff was very nice.. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a table of 10 woman who were extremely obnoxious and loud. The staff moved our table of six, so we can peacefully finish our dining experience and enjoy our dessert. Everyone in the restaurant complained about them."

"I have eaten here several times. Food is good. But I would say this time was not there best. Kitchen has been slow the last few times we went. It is frustrating to wait for your dinner at 9 pm.
Service is friendly. Although we noticed our waitress had tables in both dining rooms"

"Quite noisy. Enjoyed food. Had asked for good table as celebrating anniversary but when got there that didn't happen. After speaking with manager we were given a nice table."

"I would recommend Temple Gourmet Chinese but not on a Saturday night. The restaurant was so noisy that my husband & I could not hear one another sitting across the table from each other nor could we hear the server when she told us the specials for the night."

"Disappointing experience. Ordered 4 meals, but only 3 were delivered. The waiter kept telling us the 4th meal was on the way. After several polite requests on our part – and 25 minutes - there was still no sign of the meal. Finally got a belated apology, but pressed for time (theatre event), we left without the meal ever being served."

"The food was fantastic. I live in Jersey City and a friend recommended this restaurant. Being a foodie, I will travel for food and I'm glad to say I wasn't dissapointed. This wa by far some of the best chinese food I've had in a very very long time.
Too bad you guys aren't in Hoboken, Jersey City or New York."

"Our meal was very good and the menu and specials for the evening were impressive. The service staff was knowledgeable and polite but, because the meal took as long as it did to reach us, our server dropped the ball by not being more attentive in keeping the four of us 'busy'. Temple is awaiting a liquor license so the staff cannot offer drinks, but there could have been other distractions like a bread service or perhaps an 'intermezzo' to fill the wait time and appease a hungry diner."

"Great Experience. This is my second time dining at Temple. In both instances the food is wonderful. The only draw back is the restaurant really isn't Kid Friendly. There isn't an offering to keep the kids entertained between the time your meal is ordered and the appetizer arrive at the table. With that being said the Pepper Calamari is excellent. The portion on the Chilean Sea Bass with Chopped Shrimp and Orange Curry sauce left me wanting more. Be prepared to eat an entire Green Pepper when ordering the Scallops and Shrimp. The chunks of Green peppers is a bit much. They might be better served thinly slicing the peppers or using less in the preparation.
At the present time the restaurant is a BYO (Bring Your Own) Wine and Beer."

"This is my second visit to this restaurant . The food was as greasy as the first. The limited vegetarian options were fried and boring. The others in my party were also disappointed in the food"

"We dined at Temple shortly after it opened and experienced significant service problems (disorganized, very slow, etc.). Tried it again this past weekend and the same problems are still there. The food is above-average Chinese (which isn't saying much given the dismal quality of most central NJ Chinese food), but service is still erratic and slow. The wait staff is friendly and tries hard, but appears to be very inexperienced and untrained. But the biggest problem seems to be in the kitchen, which is just incredibly slow. If you don't mind waiting 40 minutes between appetizers and your entree, this may not be an issue for you.
Noise level is still very high, but didn't seem quite as loud as during the previous visit."

"To make a long story short, my husband and I had dinner here early on a Saturday. We ordered appetizers, filet mignon egg roll (not worth it, tastes like ground beef and lettuce,) dumplings (okay,) and calamari (good.) We then had soup, my husband loved the hot and sour. We shared Peking Duck ($38) and it was served with flour tortillas when the menu says house made crepes (which is what it should be served with) the waitress admitted they were tortillas, the manager would not and was rude about about it. For that alone I will not return."
