Pat O'Briens at Universal Citywalk
It's Mardi Gras 365 days a year at this authentic reproduction of New Orleans' favorite watering hole. Pat O'Brien's is the home of the world-famous Hurricane drink and the "Flaming Fountain" patio, a picturesque courtyard that will have you believing you're in the middle of Bourbon Street.
Pat O'Brien's is also the home of dueling pianos, and in Pat O's Piano Bar you can sing along with two piano players performing nightly. There's also a popular Locals Bar perfect for friendly conversation and catching your favorite game on one of our TV's. "Great place for a romantic night or with your friends the court yard was great for a meal and the food was awesome recommend the copper steak then you can go and enjoy the twin piano room for a sing a long or go to the bar room for a chat so what ever you like on a night out Pat O'Brians is the place to go."

"Food was okay. Good beer prices (BOGO). Kid had the chicken fingers and fries, which were hot and tasty but the same as anywhere else. I had the crawfish etoufee, which was just ok. Crawfish were chewy. Wife had the Cajun Mac N' Cheese, which was good but tasted like the standard fare at Chili's, etc. Beer was cold and the staff was friendly, although the place was sort of like a ghost town at 6:30 on a Tuesday night. Started to fill up as we were leaving. The Bag O' Beignets was easily the best thing we ordered."

"We sat in the courtyard. It was a little windy with all of the fans on. I'm sure they are needed midday but not necessary in the evening. They had a sampler platter of wings, onion rings and mozzarella sticks which was perfect for the teen boys. Huge portion so we brought a doggie bag home. My husband and I had the sampler plate of black beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya. We've been to New Orleans for the real thing numerous times...this was good but not great."

"This was a disappointment. Food was actually ok, but service was absolutely awful. We were seated in an outside courtyard area after having a reservation and requesting a table inside. As the temperature was in the low 60s and windy, this made for an uncomfortable experience. We asked to be moved inside, but were told there was no room and/or those tables were already reserved. To make matters worse, the service was terribly slow, and with each apology we were given rambling excuses as to why something was wrong as opposed to just fixing it and improving. To top it all off, there is something off-putting about receiving your check for a party of 6 with an 18% gratuity already added when service is completely sub-par. Not recommended."

"You are forced to buy a souvenir glass with each drink. We told the server we didn't want them. She said it was the way they come.
You get a long stem glass with a very small top that when full of ice holds
about 2-3 gulps of liquid. These were about $15ea. You could taste some kind
of bitter powder that was not mixed in well. We told the waitress our concerns. She said we should have ordered the Hurricane.

We checked out the dueling pianos. Once seated we realized If you are not eating food, they won't serve you in there.
I tipped the piano guys $5 to play a song. I saw it sit in front of him for about 40min.

"We had a great time especially once the dueling pianos started! However, there was no server for the piano room when we arrived and this is where we wanted to sit. There was only outside seating...and it was too chilly for us. So a server had to go back/forth between outside seating and our area. When she brought our food we had to request cutlery and napkins...as these had not been provided for us. When we were ready to pay our bill, we had to track her down to get it. Then we had to track her down again (more than 30 minutes later)to close out payment. We could have easily left and stuck her/the establishment with an unpaid bill."

"The outside patio where we sat was very nice, though we watched a band set up for Mardi Gras late-night performances and never got to hear them play, or any other music in the background for ambiance besides their very loud sound-checks followed by nothing after they finished. Would rather have been seated inside in the piano bar if that was the case, but understandable considering how busy they are for Mardi Gras. Service was fine but not great, food on Movie & Meal deal menu list was adequate though not particularly notable. My friend liked her Shrimp Po'Boy sandwich the best of all our meals. Loved the pretty space and vibe, but overall just okay and I would go to another Citywalk restaurant next time."

"The food was certainly good, but not exceptional. The real reason to go to Pat O'Briens after a full day at Universal is to enjoy a beer or cocktail and sing along with the dueling pianists. "My husband and I had been visiting the parks all day long and were hot and tired. We had a reservation but the restaurant was not crowded at the time we came in. We were a little worried that we were going to be under dressed but we were thrilled to find it was a casual restaurant but could also be formal. "We came to Pat O'Briens hoping to see the piano players. However, we were seated outside away from the music. The tables were small, chairs were VERY uncomfortable (they leaned back so you couldn't even sit up at the table and relax and eat) and it was very dark that we could hardly see our menu. The food was edible but wasn't anything special. We expected to have more of a Cajun taste, but it was far from it. The service was good and our server was nice, however, it would have been nice for him to check back with us after our food was served to ask if everything was ok. Overall, we were disappointed. This was our last night on our vacation, and we were hoping for a better experience."

Must try the Hurricane and why not, get it in the take-home souvenir glass... better deal than wine or cocktails by the glass which are pricey.

"The only disappointment I had is, I purposely made a reservation for my daughter's birthday because it looked like a fun, energetic place inside with the piano player. However, when we got there they said we had to sit on the patio. It was cold, dead, and boring out there. I really don't understand why they stuck us outside. At first, I thought the inside dining wasn't open for dinner yet since it was so early, but that was not the case. I finally insisted that we move inside and then it was great, but it was a little aggravating at first. The girls did not have that much time there because a lot of time was wasted on the patio. It was a shame because they really did have a great time once we got inside."

"We had a great time at Pat O'Briens. Our group included 4 adults and 4 kids and we all enjoyed ourselves. Our waiter could not have done more to accommodate us and our children's special requests. He was very helpful in making recommendations and making our night enjoyable. There was something for everyone on the menu. The "grown up" mac and cheese was delicious as was the cheesecake and beignets. I highly recommend Pat O'Briens and I can't wait to go back."

"We came for e dueling pianos. The dueling pianos start at 8pm (before that there is a single piano). Is open seating in the piano bar and will get full around 8p so get there early or wait for a table to open.
Ever hour or so, the pianists change out so y get a great mix of experience and ability. All in all, everyone was great and really gets the crowd going. Definitely a recommended night out - there is some friendly swearing that goes on through some of the songs."
