Capdeville is American interpretation the social houses so commonly found in London. Here, enjoying people and camaraderie is just the order of the day. Capdeville’s features include a collection of American whiskeys, gourmet interpretations of classic comfort food, and an assortment of albums in an antiquated jukebox with which every gentleman and keen lady should be familiar. In short, though, it is a well done casual restaurant paying tribute to whiskey and rock and roll.
Inspired by New Orleans Mayor Paul Capdevielle (1900-1904) who has a mere one block street named in his honor despite being largely credited with industrializing New Orleans, Capdeville is poised to become one of the timeless classics dotting New Orleans' restaurant landscape.
"We went before heading to an event at the Joy Theater, so we were a little overdressed--it's a pretty casual restaurant. But we're SO glad we chose it--the food was excellent, the service was great, and we plan to go back again soon. We tried the appetizer special--salmon balls rolled in panko--and it was fabulous. I had the truffled mac & cheese, which was really tasty (I got the entree portion, which was ample), and my husband had the Pork Cakes, which were like crab cakes but made with pulled pork. The bar tender is really good and the waiters are really nice and attentive. Highly recommended, but be advised that this isn't a fancy, dress up place."

"Went here based on food reviews for a business diner. It was too loud and the service was really slow. It would be a great place to hang out with friends."

"You must try this place for the truffle Mac and cheese if for no other reason. It's the best Mac and cheese I have had in New Orleans and maybe ever. My husband liked the burger and said it would be in his top 5 burgers of NOLA. The jalapeño corn fritters were good, but I'd try the fried red beans and rice next time. The Oreo bread pudding was good. My only complaint was that it was very hot in some spots and cold in others. It seems to have been put in the microwave and heated unevenly. The hot parts were amazing. The cold parts, not so much. They should make sure it's hot and have the option of a scoop of ice cream to go with it. Also of note, hubby said the Guinness was not poured properly. Overall, definitely somewhere we would go back."

"Best place I've been to in awhile! The chorizo and manchego fries were phenomenal and made me want to come back everyday. The duck confit club was another wonderful option and was an unexpected treat."

"After reading some reviews, we were willing to give it a shot. We were very skeptical at first because there was no signage and it was on a lonely street. We walked into a vibrant atmosphere with great energy!! We started off with some delicious balsamic deviled eggs. I ordered the Robert Paulson meatloaf sandwich and my fiancé the duck confit club, we shared the poutine fries. The turkey meatloaf sandwich was just an explosion of flavors from the caramelized onions, spinach and fried egg on top. The portion of meatloaf was so large that I discarded the enormous onion bun. The duck confit was cooked to perfection, and every last bite was absolutely delicious!! Capdeville was definitely a great last minute find! Highly recommend!!"

"We had lunch at Capdville on a recent visit to NOLA. We both had fresh fish (drumfish) tacos, one with corn tortillas and the other with flour. Although not earth-shattering in terms of creativity, both were nice and spicy and very good. Chased with Abita Beer of course. This after a long morning of museum shuffling so our lunch there was a nice respit. As has been mentioned already, this restaurant faces a federal government center near the CBD or on the edge of the Warehouse District. When you step in, it's definately a diner with a Rock n' Roll theme. We were welcomed warmly but this place is definately a locals destination. Which you should embrace. I'd add that this felt more like a lunch sweet spot than a dinner haunt for foodies."

"I recently chose Capedeville with some co-workers to celebrate my 2 year anniversary at work. We were seated immediately and our server greeted us after a few minutes. The menu was accessible and the food was delicious! My only irk with the visit was that we had a hard time getting our server's attention when we were ready to order, when we were ready for dessert, and when we were ready for our check. Her personality however was warm and friendly but waiting too long can put a bad taste in anyone's mouth. I'll be back though!"
