"If you're looking to take out a special someone on a date: look no further. The food, wine, and ambiance at this restaurant is top notch. I would highly recommend this to both carnivores and veggie lovers. Also, make sure you head down to Manifesto afterward for some creative cocktails."

"Third time eating at the Rieger and it was once again an eclectic and unusual menu that delivered. I was at first put off by some of the entrees but after our server explained the dishes, I was interested in trying several. Each of our party had a different dish and each were very happy with the food. Our server was awesome and it was a great evening. Would highly recommend the Rieger!"

"It was the second night of the new seasonal menu and of what we had, it was delicious. I had the potato & leek soup and the pork cheeks and my the wife, the spinach salad with rabbit liver and the risotto. All were absolutely amazing. The Rieger Hotel Grill and Exchange is one of our favorite restaurants in town and although we should frequent more often, this is surely a "go to" place for us."

"Our server (and I wish I could remember her name) was amazing. She knew every detail of the menu, even though it was new just 2 days earlier. She made suggestions for a gluten-intolerant diner, and checked with the chef on everything ordered. Fantastic service. The menu is creative. At first, there seemed to be something in each entree that I was skeptical of, but I gave in and just ordered something that sounded good (even though it was goat), and the flavors were amazing. The potato & leek soup was outstanding - creamy without being too heavy. My only slight complaint is the same as when this was a previous restaurant - the tables are too close together. I'd return for the service alone, but the food was well worth another visit."

"We are never disappointed when we come. Yes, there are lots of meat items but if you don't eat meat there is plenty of good options other than a salad. The vegetarian entree special is always well thought out with such good flavors. The chef used in season veggies and some local mushrooms which I loved. This is our favorite place to go. The wine is fantastic as well as the mixed drinks."

"I had the oysters rockefeller for appetizer. Whatever they did with the bread crumbs didn't work. They weren't the crisp topping they were supposed to be. My husband ordered the meat tray and that was delicious. The cheese spread.was light and tasty and the fig jam was to die for. Crostini was perfect and the melding of the three was a mouth party. Entree was fish and spinach for me. It was too bland for me and the spinach was bitter. My husband ordered the pirk shank and it was perfect. Service wss superb. Our server, Andi, was attentive without being obtrusive. I loved the ambient light filtered through the leaded glass windows. It was a fun evening capped off with great drinks in the bar brlow, Manifestos."

"We had a lovely evening at Rieger. Interesting menu and well prepared food. The argula salad was excellent with really pepper-y argula. Pasta with braised lamb necks was the favorite of the table. Crispy lamb shoulder special was good and chocolate dessert special was eagerly shared by everyone. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Meal was well paced to allow for a lovely, leisurely dining experience."

"My friend and I went here before a play and we were extremely pleased! Everything was seasoned very nicely and the flavors blended well together,.. We started off with the lamb brain and scrambled egg on a toasted baguette at first I was worried about their being too many soft textures but when you eat it all together it beautifully comes together and the flavors are so delicious!! The rabbit dish was outstanding and the chocolate banana cheese cake was the perfect way to end the meal!!! I look forward to going back to the Reiger!!"

"I know I should stop being surprised at how great the Rieger is--it certainly wasn't my first visit. Time after time, Chef Hanna turns out dishes that are as imaginative as they are amazing. The dessert special that night (pistachio bread pudding with Irish Ale ice cream and caramel) was probably the best dessert I've ever had in my life. Wow."

This was our 10th year anniversary and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a very nice ambience, fantastic service, and great food. Very attentive staff and quite impressed I may say. To us, the food really doesn't make a place if the service is substandard, give this one a try and you won't be disappointed! "I was on a short trip to Kansas City and HAD TO GO to the Rieger TWICE!!! They have this amazing salad there, with smoked trout and happiness inside. "This has become our favorite restaurant in KC. Chef Howard is master craftsman in the Kitchen and Jenn continues to amaze at the bar. I had the smoked trout salad and goat au vin and my wife the artic char - all were amazing. Both amazing. The menu changes seasonally so be sure to check as something you had in the past may not be there. Also, we cant say enough about the staff. Everyone supports each other and they seem more like a family than employees."

"We tried the Rieger Hotel Grill and Exchange on a Saturday evening before a 7:30 p.m. theater event. We made our reservations well in advance and early enough to accomodate our theater tickets. When we were seated, we reminded the hostess and our server of our 7:30 theater tickets. Given that we had arrived almost 2 hours in advance, both assured us there would be no problem and there were no problems with the appetizers and soup courses. The pork soup, by the way, was every bit as fantastic as all have said. Unfortunately, there was a substantial delay and our entrees arrived at 7 p.m. so we did not really have an opportunity to enjoy them. The restaurant did comp our cocktails for our inconvenience. We will try again."

"Despite it being a full house for Valentine's Day, our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was well prepared. Between the two of us, we had the Meat Board, a house salad, the risotto, the arctic char and a prime rib. The risotto was a bit ho-hum (but it is risotto, after all), but everything else was fantastic."

"We had been wanting to go there for a long time, so we decided to go on Valentine's Day. We are glad we did, but it just isn't our kind of place. We would have liked more meatless choices on the menu. Altho not our place, we will definitely recommend The Hotel Reiger to others."

"The Rieger is an amazing place. When you walk in you feel welcomed,warm and at home. I felt like I was a special guest that they were anticipating to arrive. As I walked past the Bar, there was a warm crowd of people fellowshiping and laughing at a moderate volume, the bar side is still respectable to the dining side. We were then seated at the table that I specifically requested, which was wonderful because that table is special for my wife and I. I love the open kitchen~!~!~! Watching the chef and sous chefs was amazing~! They are so organized, calm mannered, and focused as they cook. It was inspirational! The kitchen reminded me of a symphony~! The food was exquisite. My wife had the fried rabbit hare and I had the Goat Au Vin~! Soo Good"

"Drinks were expensive, but excellent. The taste of the food was good, but not great. my wife paid 42.00 for a seafood dish with about 4 to 5 oz. of fish on it. I had 8 regular sized ravioli dish. taste was just good. again portions were small. 24.00 for pasta, being Italian I have certain standards. this was a sub par total experience for me. I will not return. Our waitress was about 8 months pregnant. she was outstanding. they are lucky to have her."

"Food was very good. Unusual braised catfish dish with excellent sauce. Service was attentive but kitchen was apparently slow in getting out the orders. People next to us threatened to leave. Which brings up the biggest problem. The table are too close together, NY style. Way too loud and cannot converse nor, despite trying, avoid being drawn in to neighbors' conversations...especially if they, as was the case, are agitated.
We will probably walk down the street next time to a quieter venue. Too bad, because we liked the food and the servers."

"The dining experience overall was really enjoyable. We ordered some great drinks and were intrigued by the eclectic menu. While the food was quite good, I was expecting something a bit more outstanding, given the plate price.
Our server was wonderful and really knew her way around the menu (which was entirely new, from what I understand). The space was lively and looked to be a frequented first friday's hot spot. It's was a bit too hectic for a romantic date. If you are looking for an atmosphere in which you don't have to yell or repeat yourself, head to the bar downstairs after dinner!"

"I love the Rieger. The food is always fantastic, the service is phenomenal, and the ambiance superb. I love sitting at the kitchen bar and watching the guys cook. I've had several different servers there and they all are extremely knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients. There are always lots of specials so make sure to listen to those before deciding on your order! The drinks are also great, wine list is delicious!"
