"Our overall experience was good. I was looking for a more up-scale establishment to have a nice dinner with my wife, which this geographic area. This restaurant has the potential to be such a place but knowing that it is located in a hotel I know that compromises must be made. The music, decor, and subdued lighting were nice; the wait staff was adequate; and the steaks were delicious. A mistake on my drink order (I had asked for a Scotch and water, received a Scotch and soda) was rectified very quickly. My wife and I definitely enjoyed our time at the Octogon."

"Out for the day with my wife, had an enjoyable late breakfast. The buffett, no matter what time you enter, is always fresh and ready for the take. Made to order omlettes and oatmeal are simple, yet perfect way to start the day. Open until 11:00am, sneaking in at around 10:00am after early breakfast crowd made for peaceful morning start. Always great service."

"We booked a reservation at Octagon for a romantic birthday dinner. Everything was excellent, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the steaks were cooked perfectly, and the wine was superb. The oysters and clams were awesome to start, and the crab cake was the best we've ever had. It was all lump crab, amazing! The seared tuna wasn't great, it was cold, and we expected it to be freshly seared, as in warm on the outside, not seared the day before and put in the fridge. That was the only negative, the porterhouse was amazing, and the filet with balsamic and garlic was out of this world! We chose the Columbia Crest Reserve Syrah, and at $62 was the best value/best overall wine we've ever had at a restaurant. Expensive, but worth it!"

"My wife and I enjoyed excellent steaks. Our server was very friendly. I would suggest locking one of the outer doors that leads to the hotel, since that was used as an entrance by guests at one point and was rather noisy. Otherwise, excellent dining experience. I will definitely dine here again."

"I visited Octagon for a Valentines day dinner. I was well aware of the menu and prices of this steakhouse before having arrived and was looking forward to a phenomenal steak dinner. Expecting our steak to be the focal point of the dinner I must say we were disappointed as our steaks were overcooked and not made as ordered. Unfortunately, for a steak house (and for the price) it was not what we expected. I would not say that it was a bad experience. Overall, it was a nice meal. The restaurant is well decorated, low dim lighting, and formal with accent lighting on the huge wine rack wall. The focal point of the dining room was the Octagon grill which was surprisingly only run by a single unassisted chef. Our waitress was extremely friendly."

"We were staying at the Mystic Marriott and read the Octogon had gotten an Zagat rating and decided to try it. So glad we did. The restaurant was very nice with low lighting which made it a bit romatic. The service was excellent along with the food. They are noted for the steaks and seafood and I can say I had a fillet mignon that was melt in your mouth tender. My husband had a seafood dish over pasta that had scallops and shrimp that was also very good.
I would highly recommend this restaurant even if you don't stay at the Marriott. We live 40 min. away and will definitely go back for dinner."

"Overall the food was delicious and the ambiance was nice for a dinner out. There could be more private areas as the table we were sat at was right at the entrance where people wait to be seated. But overall, the tables werent too crowded together and me and my partner didnt feel as if we were invading the space of the couples next to us, which is great! And the shrimp and scallop scampi I had was amazing!!!!!"

"It was overpriced for the portion size. Also, only the beef entrees came without sides; if you ordered one of those entrees it was a la carte. If I return to that hotel I would eat off sight at a local restaurant."

"The noise level was very high at times since the doors remained open to the lobby and bar. The doors should be closed or noise will always be a problem."

"excellent steaks . great but expensive house wines . $4 for a side salad that was about 3 tablespoons of carrots and onion . very amateur service . the cheap coat rack was displayed prominently in the dining room . very poor atmosphere for a pricey restaurant . very small tables remniscent of a high school cafeteria . $11 house chardonnay ."

"One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The staffing levels were nonexistent and they have no basis for billing themselves as a fine steak house based on my experience. A total disappointment."

"Worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Waitress took 15 minutes before she greeted us/offered drinks. 15 more minutes before we got drinks and they took our food order. Bread never brought to the table. She did not return for 25 minutes, and that was after my husband complained to the host. Did not come back with appetizers for another 15 minutes, and I told her to forget second round of drinks, I would pick them up myself at the bar. The table next to us came in before and got served AFTER we did. They were livid as well. The whole restaurant was in dissaray, and when the food finally came out, my steak, asparagus and veggies were tasty, but clearly left 'warming' for 15 minutes. The whole staff should be retrained."

"We had to wait 20-25 even though we had a reservation. Our dinner was very nice, filet was flavorful but over cooked. Restaurant seems unorganized . Other friends who ate there had a very long wait to be greeted at table,, to order, and to be served. I would recommend to others with hesitation because of experiences of others.
Bar had great service both Friday and Saturday night"
