"The first time we went to Fou Frog we thought it was good but nothing to write home about. The second time my husband raved for days afterward. Of course there were several years between visits. Close quarters, but everyone kept their conversation voices down and did not interfere with neighbors. The food as well as the service was fantastic. They knew we were going to the symphony afterwards and made sure we had plenty of time. They said to allow 2 hours and we were glad we did. Very relaxing."

"Fou Frog is always a treat. The food excels, and the atmosphere is funky in the best sense of the word. The wine list is heavily French, perhaps all French, but all price points are represented. We shared the snails appetizer and a beet salad, and then each had the fish specials: all perfect. We keep coming back and are always happy when we leave."

"I was fortunate enough to go to the restaurant when they had rack of lamb as a special dish for that night. One of the most memorable meals I have ever eaten!!! Glad I chose it over the fabulous looking steak they offer on a regular basis. My only disappointment was that they were out of high-end vodkas for a martini. What? A French restaurant that was out of Grey Goose early on a Saturday night??? I had the French martini but I would not order it again as it is on the sweet side of the spectrum."

"We have been planning to try Le Fou Frog for quite some time and my birthday seemed the perfect occasion.
I actually expected more of a "French" ambiance. The waitress was nice, but very much "American" café. It would have nice
to have had some French music rather than light rock!

My husband had the French Onion Soup and would have liked more "soup". It was more like a porridge of onions, but had a good flavor. The Lobster bisque was very good. My husband had Pepper Steak and I had the Lobster Tails in Champagne/vanilla sauce. Both were very good, however, the lobster tails were rather chewy. The profiteroles were excellent for my dessert. My husband's Strawberry Napoleon was good."

"This restaurant is a beautiful little gem in Kansas City. My wife and I enjoy this restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. I love the food; my wife doesn't enjoy French food, but still likes the ambiance. The bar is well stocked, and the bartender makes a fabulous martini with a generous pour. From my perspective, the prices are very reasonable, even inexpensive, for French food compared with other cities."

"This restaurant was amazing. Impeccable service, great food and the bonus of singing by wait staff.
When they found out that it was the couple at the next table's anniversary they gave them champagne. When they found out my husband was celebrating something for work they gave us a free dessert and after dinner drink.
Best food I have had in a long time and they had an extensive list of specials.
If you are in Kansas City it's a must -- especially for celebrating."

"We were excited ou anniversary dinner, but it just didn't stand up to the same standard as in recent years. The waiter had very little knowledge of wine and almost opened the wrong bottle before we noticed it. Then we had to tell him that he had forgotten to charge us for it and when we did, we didn't even get a thank you for letting him know. Smoke from the patio smokers wafted through the bar area and right to our table making the meal unpleasant. There was too much time between our 2nd course and entrees and the smoke was so bad, we considered cancelling the rest of our order, but then the food came out. The muscles were big and pulpy and the sauce was bland. We had to ask him to bring bread, which came after the fact. Really slipping!"

"My companion and i ate there on a busy Saturday night. I had eaten there several yrs ago and he never had. He had the filet and i had duck. Everything we had was well-prepared and was delicious. But it wasn't exceptional. And the service was perfunctory, bordering on condescending. i had the impression that the experience would have been better if we had been "regulars." It seems that this restaurant already has enough regulars and isn't looking to add new people to the mix. For the price, i expected better. Make no mistake, the food was good and the wine list was interesting, but i have spent this kind of money all over KC and been much happier with the overall experience."

"I've been showing patronage since 1998 and am not so sure I'll be coming back. The server got my order wrong, I get steak au poivre, he brings me steak le fou. wine should be poured first to the host, then female, he asked who wanted to try it first. it wasnt busy and we all ordered our steaks medium rare, three of us, and a party of 5 was taken care of first. the wine/champagne list was sad and very limited. c"est vraiment dommage."

"Le Fou Frog is my new favorite restaurant. After getting out of the theatre 45 minutes late, we were one-half hour late for our reservation. The hostess was extremely nice, and she seated us anyway. The food was incredible, and the staff were extremely well trained and attentive, but also very genuine and friendly without being intrusive. I loved the French, stylish, intimate atmosphere of the restaurant and the special touches they provide (such as the chocolates at the end of the meal). The creme brûlée is the best I've ever had, and since it's my favorite dessert, I've tried it at many restaurants. I think Le Fou Frog is a wonderful all-around dining experience."

"My husband and I went for dinner at Le Fou Frog to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. We made a reservation through opentable that day for 5pm dining time. We were the first patrons to arrive. We were quickly seated. The owner came to our table several times to check on us. We ordered an appetizer of Escargot, that was AMAZING! Also, I ordered a soup, sweet potato curry bisque, it was very, very spicy and was taken off of our bill. My husband's duck salad was delicious. Our main dishes were chilean sea bass, and my husband had the quail. AWESOME! Both dishes were fantastic! We left a 19% tip and later came to note that the resturant has a 20% min tip policy. The only hiccup."

"I love Le Fou Frog - it's a gem. They were able to accommodate a surprise fifth on our reservation for four without missing a beat. Got us well fed and off the the show without a hitch. Great food. Great staff. Great fun!"

"I had the veal sweatbreads, the thymus gland of veal, it was out of this world. I've eaten all over the world and have never had something quite like his. Having been to France, I can attest to he fact that Le Fou Frog truly exemplifies what French food is all about. When I eat at Le Fou Frog I feel as though I'm sitting down to a meal in he Latin quarter!"

"It's a place to go when one is not too concerned with the price. We were there to celebrate and so we had everything we wanted, both food and wine. They have very good food with many selections to offer. The service was very good. The atmosphere was very good, like a french Bistro, although I have never been to France. Go there and have a good time."

"We had 7:30 reservations and didn't get seated until 8:30. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order at the table and did not get served out meals until 10 PM. But the owner/servers were delightful. There were a singer who would perform briefly after 9PM who had a lovely voice. Over all a great experience but next time I will make an earlier reservation so we can eat sooner."

"How can I describe how wonderful Le Fou Frog is? The dining experience (it is an experience) is wonderful in every aspect - service, food, selection. Actually - don't go very hungry - you'll eat to fast and not enjoy the wonderful food. Go for the entire experience!"

"We were fortunate to catch the Frog on a quiet Saturday night due to a snow storm. It was mid-week calm with Saturday snowy-night ambience, what a gift! Our server, Lisa, was an absolute delight, and ultimately entertained with a beautiful ballad that charmed the crowd. She was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and delightful with banter, but not intrusive. The co-owner stopped and chatted with us and really built a connection. We shared the crab bisque, a house salad, and each had an entree, I had the twin lobster tails over cheesy risotto and my wife had the baked sea bass, a true delight. Finished the evening with a shared panna cotta and finished off a reasonably priced bottle of French wine. Best restaurant in KC!"

"Le Fou Frog is a favorite of ours and we try to dine there as often as possible. This was the first time we dined on a Sunday evening and we found the restaurant almost empty. The quality of the food was superb - awesome risotto, elk and lobster bisque. The quiet atmosphere was also very enjoyable - different from the noisy clatter of a busy, bustling Saturday night crowd. It was a perfect, intimate meal for the two of us."

"Le Fou Frog is absolutely wonderful! The food, the atmosphere, the service...everything is fantastic. However, be prepared for a long, relaxing dinner. We sat down at 7:00, our appetizer came out around 7:45 (we ordered the scallops, which take a long time but are so worth the wait), our soup arrived about 30 minutes later, then our entrees, followed by "to-die-for" desserts. All in all, it was an amazing, but long, 3 hour dinner. Luckily, the staff sing about once an hour, which adds to the fun experience and helps to pass the time."

"The Fou Frog is an institution that just gets better over time. The food is always unique and delicious, the wine list is simple but perfectly calibrated to the menu, and the service is professional but with a smile. I moved away from Kansas City 13 years ago but return often and the Frog doesn't disappoint. We dined the other day with a distinguished senior military officer who is familiar with best restaurants of France and Italy. We ate the seared foie gras, the cassoulet, and the tarte tatin, and enjoyed an excellent Chateauneuf du Pape - they were all superb. I note that it was a Tuesday night, so things weren't too crowded or noisy (which the Frog can be on a weekend). It really felt like we were in a bisto in a small town in France."
