At BLT Fish, located in an elegant townhouse in Manhattan's Flatiron district, savor all things seafood.
The airy upstairs dining room, ornamented with walnut tables and suede walls, offers a host of line-caught fish from around the world like Chilean Wild Turbot and Florida Red Snapper. The sophisticated yet comfortable design of the third floor, accentuated by the retractable glass roof, features a large open kitchen allowing guests to catch a glimpse of our chefs doing what they do best - preparing sublime seafood.

"I had very high expectations for BLT Fish because I really enjoy the other BLT restaurants. I appreciated the high level of service and our waiter's proactive concern for food allergies, preferences, etc. But the food left me unfulfilled...the cheddar biscuits were to die for but the rest of the meal was somewhat disappointing. The octopus appetizer was oddly sweet (and the menu doesn't mention they're fried), the salmon was kind of ordinary and the spinach side was very soggy, certainly not sauteed as hoped. Maybe the food had been sitting for awhile? I'm not sure, but the dining room was oddly empty for a Thursday evening."

"we love BLT Fish and the shack, so I'm sad to report that there was a misstep on a dairy allergy alert. this wasn't lactose intolerance, this was a dairy protein issue- I couldn't have it because i'm nursing, and my baby has an allergy to dairy. There was turnover in the serving staff from the time we ordered the dish, (a dessert- "no dairy" our waiter said,) and the time it arrived by busboy. I had several bites before a manager? came up and said there was "just a little" dairy in the sauce. "Ugh", I said. We were offered a fruit plate and it was taken off our bill. now my baby is suffering through several days of their mistake with a damaged digestive system. But we're lucky- this could have been a shell fish allergy mistake..."

"My wife and I eat out about 3 - 4 days a week and love great food, wine and a great restaurant. BLT Fish was a disappointment. It was our second time there in 2 years because we live in Westchester (which has many great eateries), so going there was an effort. We ordered the octopus as an appetizer and were very taken aback. It came charred, tasteless and of a portion that would be served at a pizzeria. Compared to Eastchester Fish, Elia in Bronxville - this dish at $18 was an insult. As a main course, we ordered Crispy Fish for 2 at $37/pp. The portion was large enough for 2 but it too was a disappointment. It was as salty as Baccala, and so over fried that there was not a moist morsel to be found on the plate. Not BLT Steak quality @ all."

"The upstairs space is so pleasant and ethereal that it would be a great dining space without the well-crafted food and attentive service. Although it would be a great date spot for fish foodies, strangely, the several times I have been it has been for girls night out. It's the type of place where you can dine extremely well on plates of inventive appetizers and veggies complimented by spot-on wine by the glass choices (frequently a good restaurants' Achilles heel)and it has worked wonderfully in every instance."

"Sadly, the restaurant was a disappointment. The seating upstairs was insanely loud and, due to the nature of the acoustics, you could hear far more of the neighboring tables' conversations than you could of the conversation at your own table. It turned what should have been a pleasant evening into an endurance contest. We simply couldn't wait to leave.
The bass was fine but overwhelmed by its sauce. All other food was quite good, and the lemon soufflé was perfection. Wanted to enjoy ourselves but simply couldn't.
We will simply try again on another night but, if this was the situation on a midweek night, one can only imagine the weekend."

"Amazing! Me and my wife were celebrating our anniversary and couldnt have had a better dining experience. Our server was terrific,the food exquisite and the drinks were tasty. They gave us a fresh fruit platter with chocolate drizzled on the plate complimentary for our anniversary,totally unexpected and appreciated. My wife doesnt even eat fish but I had to swat her fingers away from my king crab and lobster. Dessert was truly delicious. I had rhubarb pie which is my favorite and it was divine. One of the best meals of our life! A bit pricey but totally worth it! Cant wait to go back."

"We dined at BLT Fish on Saturday, March 9th. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was over priced and the portions insufficient. Sea Bass for two might have fed one and the flavor was just ok. When asked for his reconmmendations, our waiter suggested the three highest priced items on the menu - guess he wanted to maximize his tip. There are far better dining options in NYC."

"The best fish restaurant in NYC, I would say. The taste was one of the best I have experienced in NYC. The fishes are very fresh. We loved the signature whole-fish dish, hamachi, and the biscuit. The ambiance is gorgeous. Above all, the service was great. This time I hosted a reunion with long-lost friend in which I do want to avoid any trouble. Yet, when we visited, the credit card machine was broken and it took 30 minutes to scan the card after we finish our dinner. Here, the service was great. When we are waiting, a server provided us with desert wine for free, saying I am sorry for any convenience. That makes the atmosphere very relaxed and helped the situation. I would like to thank the restaurant to make the reunion great."

"My fish was prepared perfectly and the sauce was amazing. The cauliflower side dish lacked flavor and the Brussels Sprouts were too sweet because they were sitting in a pool of the glaze.
The cocktail menu looked great but the cocktails themselves lacked any punch.
In the end I don't think the food justified the cost.
Another issue that I had was that I had three different waiters during the course of my dinner. One took our order and brought our food. A second took our dessert order and a third brought out our dessert and the brought the check as well. At restaurants of this caliber I expect one waiter for my entire meal. Even the Olive Garden gets this right."

"One of the best restaurants in NYC. A thoughtful and inventive menu - you could be satisfied by just ordering the amazing side dishes. The branzino was cooked to perfection and everything was presented in style. To add, the service was impeccable - all staff were incredibly friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The dessert of caramelized meringue was out of control and the staff brought additions - including green apple cotton candy. The server saw us enjoying it so much that he brought us take home bags of it. I cannot wait to return to this restaurant again soon."

"We had dinner here the night of the blizzard and it was fantastic! Room is gorgeous, staff was attentive but not in your face and food was delicious. If you like West Coast Oysters, octopus, salmon carpaccio, hamachi and snapper consider your meal done - all were outstanding!"

"Service was a little unusual that we had to keep flagging people down to place an order for items. Once we ordered things came quickly and were accurate. That's the first time I've experienced a service issue there and we sat just before 7pm so it wasn't crowded yet."

"This is one of my regular go to places. The food is fabulous and so is the service....the octopus appetizer is to die for and the Cantonese red snapper, some of the best I have ever had....it's always a joy to come in and have dinner there. An overall great experience every time!"

"Pricy but worth every penny because the food was amazing, the service was amazing, the drinks were yummy, and the atmosphere was pretty great as well. Love how detail oriented they are with all the little "on the house" appetizers and desserts. If you appreciate flavor this is a place for you."
